Haunted Legends: The Scars of Lamia Collector's Edition is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A few twists I won't spoil for you I really liked playing this game. I have one screensaver on my pc now that has a moving waterfall from this game that is nice. I really liked the list hops they are art filled and large enough to see well. They were a joy to me. The story and plot and twists were entertaining to me. The puzzles were mixed. I liked the jigsaws, in the right order, Simon said, and matching pairs. They do have a number of harder mini-games, like timing for a ball. I didn't like the harder ones like the horse puzzle and in the bonus chapter they have a maze that I was getting motion sick from, and I love mazes normally. The guide has the finished answer if you want to figure how to do things. I did like that they had multiple places to go. In the third chapter they had 9 scenes open and the map has a timer circling to the place you have something to do. So I would just go there and figure out what needs to be done. There is a black cat besides the cardinal's cat that you see around this city. I would just watch him play with a toy mouse. The bonus chapter has a jeweler and his son in trouble that you help. The collectibles are puzzle pieces that you do that has a bit of the story when completed. There is 26 morphing lanterns. There are 4 chapters + bonus chapter. Replays on 14 hops and 13 mini-games, 15 movies and 4 music. Achievements, 5 wallpapers, 6 screensavers and 8 concept art.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Damsels in Distress Haunted Legends once again delivers a lovely game. I thought the graphics were stunning. The atmosphere of hazy clouds, gently drifting leaves, and light reflecting off the damp scenery added the right amount of spookiness to set the scenes as they unfolded. I really appreciate that this developer creates a fair balance between mini-games, and HOs. The mini-games are for the most part easy breezy so avid puzzlers may be disappointed. A lot, not all, of the HOs were list items but I found them enjoyable. Towards the end of the game there was a great deal of going back and forth so the map was useful and the storyline held my interest so it didn't feel tedious. Off to play the bonus game. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Type of game I like Love these games. Good puzzles, beautiful graphics, good sound. I like the reoccurring characters and the Victorian-like setting and time period. My favorites. Modern stuff just isn't appealing to the eye, imo. The art in these games are lovely and appealing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Despite the appearance of St. Germain ... For those of you new to Haunted Legends, the recurring character is a miserable little miscreant named St. Germain. While his backstory, which explains how he became what he is today, is sorrowful and shouldn't happen to anyone, his persistence in chasing evil is by his own choice to regain his former stature and good looks. To those of us who collect Haunted Legends, his presence can become tiresome; nonetheless, the game play is such that the nasty little imp can be ignored. I played the demo and enjoyed it thoroughly and am buying the game. While the opening gambit is always the same, it hardly matters once past the assignment of the mission and gaining access to the person who needs our help. I recommend this game, especially if this is your first foray into Haunted Legends. I know you'll have a good time. Oh, right - and the mini games are a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our "amis français" are back with a new story! Hooray! St. Germaine, that height challenged grumpy villain is back, along with the inscrutable Cardinal Richileau (I know they don't name him, but who else could it be???) with his superbly arrogant bad kitty. I totally love this series, and these regulars are a wonderfully familiar chain that locks the whole series together. The only area I marked a little less on was the artwork because it could have been more crisp and less gray tone and de-focused. I did note that the puzzles were somewhat easy this time round, but that is fine by me. I play these games for the adventure and HO aspects not the puzzles. I'm going to buy this game as soon as I can. I love the surprise at the end of the demo, which goes a long way to making this story unpredictable. Normally I don't post until I've played the whole game, but the other negative reviews made me want to give another view point "tout de suite"! Happy Gaming!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THE SCARS OF ST. GERMAIN STILL REMAIN REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME 4 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 48 pages (My time: 6 Hours) OPINION: Agent! You are off to Sauvenage City to investigate another baffling case involving women afflicted with luminescent scars. Contend with two evildoers as you all battle each other to locate the “source” of this malady and cure. The annoying dwarf, St. Germain returns; however, he is a bit player in this game. Although I found the story bizarre, I found the game itself a decent addition to the series. The beginning of the main game is fast paced; however, the end is snail-paced with a great deal of back-and-forth action between scenes. There are two collectibles, morphing lanterns and puzzle fragments. The fragments create six pictures which give information about the characters from the game. Most are easy to locate but there are some which are well-hidden within the scenes. The graphics within the scenes are beautifully illustrated as in most of this developer’s games. There are seventeen (17) HOP scenes within the game – fourteen (14) of which can be replayed. Most of the scenes are standard lists of items or silhouette. There are a few matching and storybook scenes as well. Most of the scenes lack variety. They are simple searches with little creative design. There are also twenty (20) mini-HOP scenes which consist of searching for six (6) to twelve (12) items or fragments of items within a scene. Nevertheless, there is one scene which I found creatively designed and puzzle-like. The player is given a map of a labyrinth. In the labyrinth the player must search for silhouette items which uncover parts of directional signs with symbols on them. Once the signs have been restored, the player must choose the one which matches with one of the symbols on the map and then proceed in that direction. I found the mini-games better designed that the HOP scenes. There are forty-five (45) mini-games which vary in difficulty and style. I found most of moderate difficulty. There is an option for some of the mini-games to be played in either a casual or hard mode. With this number of mini-games, I am somewhat disappointed that more them were not offered to be replayed at the conclusion of the game. BONUS CHAPTER: It is a sequel. Return to Sauvenage City to investigate the case of a missing young man. Gustav Lefer has disappeared after acquiring a strange ring. Discover how this ring is tied into his disappearance. Evildoer, St. Germain makes an encore appearance in this chapter as well. It is a long chapter which I feel is well-worth the collector’s edition designation. I like the story better in this chapter than that from the main game. I also feel the activities are more creatively designed as well. There are eleven (11) mini-games and six (6) HOP scenes, along with one mini-HOP scene. MECHANICS: • Four (4) levels of play including a customized version. • Fourteen (14) achievements. • Collect thirty-six (36) puzzle fragments to create six (6) pictures which tell more about the characters from the game. • Collect twenty-six (26) morphing objects (lanterns) • Five (5) wallpapers and six (6) screensavers along with concept art, music and video sequences • Replay fourteen (14) HOP scenes and thirteen (13) mini-games SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO: A. Matching/Sequence puzzle. On a piano, press keys with symbols on them in sequential order to match up with those on a sheet of music. B. Casual/Hard. Switch puzzle. Switch hexagonal pieces to restore an image. In the hard version, rotate the pieces as well C. Switch puzzle. Switch butterflies around a circle so that the colors on the wings match those from colored disks in the center of the circle. D. Map puzzle. Place 9 arrows into a box to plot a route for a horse while avoiding obstacles in its path. All arrows are used. (Repeated from the demo) E. Switch puzzle. Switch fan blades to create an image on a fan. F. Switch puzzle. Switch animal tokens so each is in its appropriate habitat BONUS CHAPTER G. Map puzzle. Follow given directions by moving onto spaces within a grid (north, south, east, and west) according to given clues. H. Casual/Hard. Maze puzzle. Move through a maze while avoiding a ghost and other obstacles. Wander the maze to locate items which can be used to tackle the obstructions I. Moving blocks puzzle. Rated 3 out of 5 by from frustrating I love the dwarf and i thought, wow here he is again. But, he only appears 2 or 3 times in the whole game - that's why the story is extremely weak. And now as i get to the second part of the game - the story even disappeared. You just walk around and do stupid minigames, which you cannot even skip, but have to use the hintbutton for to solve them. I'm very disapponted that the developers didn't put the amount of work it takes to get a good storyline, which takes you through the whole game. Without a story which takes your attention - you just wander around in the dark - and there are really way too many things to do, without knowing why and this is boring. Let the dwarf play an active role and give us a good storyline! Please!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from NO CHALLENGE to mini games at all I have been finding this series very boring lately and not due to a bad story line, but horribly easy mini games.. No challenge at all.. I mean I think a 5 year old would not ever have to even use a hint. This took away so much from the game.. and funny, because the Queen of Spades in this series years ago was my favorite game that year!! I think so many better games have come out by other companies now putting this one to shame!! Sorry!! :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Pieces, Pieces, Pieces and Many More With Potions on the Side The cardinal is sending you out once again after a plea from a local doctor when young girls have been found murdered in his town. Once again you will be three steps behind St. Germaine as he runs amuck. Good stuff: There are HOPs, mini-games/puzzles, collectibles, and a story, along with a collection of CE bling. Bad stuff: Let's start with something basic - Our "morphing" objects are not morphing at all. They fade in and out of the scenes without morphing at all. I did not keep a count of the pieces I found, but the quantity surpassed any nightmares I might have. And I was aware that there were still pieces of the doctor's bag as well as the duchess's fountain to be found, in addition to a piece from the town square griffin statue's plaque. I have never heard a player express eagerness over having to make a potion. Between the potions and their ingredients and the massive quantity of amulet/key pieces to be found, I was delighted when the demo ended. Bottom line: We've been here, we've done this, and you may not want to do it again. Please try the demo before you take the plunge into this pile of pieces and potions.
