Dark Romance: The Ethereal Gardens Collector's Edition is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from SHE STOLE MY FAIRY WINGS! Completed Game approximately 6 hours (including all mini-games & CE Bonus Chapter) Once again we have a story about a poisoned King and a Queen who pleads with her son to take on an entire rival by himself, to save the day and resurrect dear ole dad from the dead. I know how this dev likes their King & Queen run Kingdoms but the plot is getting slooow and boooring. There are 12 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter. There are Interactive List Finds, Keywords in Sentences Finds, Multiples of the same Object Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Replace or Reverse Finds, and my favorite was finding object placements by selecting items in the scene that match swatch tokens. There are 19 Mini-Games +10 in the CE Bonus Chapter. The games can be played in an Easy Mode or Hard mode and you can choose your difficulty preferences in the custom settings, but you can change to the mode you want individually before starting the game. I thought the games were decent but very easily solved even on the Hard mode. The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter fast-forwards to focus on Prince Liam's now-grown daughters and Queen Henrietta's sister and an icy battle between them. There are 5 Hidden Objects Scenes, and 10 Mini-Games and you will find the remaining 3 Morphing Celeste's Jewlrey, 3 Beastiary Pages, and 7 Amulets to finish the garden collectibles. Collector's Edition version has 10 Wallpapers, 19 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks, 44 Movie Videos, 17 Replayable Games, 17 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 39 Achievements, 70 Collectible Amulets to purchase 14 Garden Items, 15 Bestiary Book Pages, 15 Morphing Celeste's Jewelry, Missing Journal Pages to find, 6 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Would we call this Romance?? It's in the title yet nowhere to be found in this game! The whole reason I like this series is that there's usually some kind of romance which is hard to find in HOAs nowadays (YOU HEAR THAT DEVS - MORE ROMANCE PLEASE!!). The story is redundant, the setting is redundant, and the game play is what you'd expect. I actually like the way these games play because they flow and run faster on my computer for some reason. The art style makes hidden objects games easy on the eyes which I appreciate. And the voice acting was good! Thank you for hiring decent actors (and if these are the same actors as earlier games, they've improved!). Finally - the game is short. In general it seems like HOAs are getting shorter and shorter and yet the prices remain the same hmm... Overall if you like dark fantasy, art that's easy on the eyes, and fairly simplistic play, this is the game for you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from BORING.....NO BUY HERE I have all of the others in this series....some SE and others CE. This was the most boring demo of them that I have ever played. If they don't capture me in the demo, it's over. The graphics left a lot to be desired. They could have been more clear and not so cartoonish. After a while everything started looking the same and the gameplay was very boring with the usual back and forth, collecting monotonous inventory. The women looked and sounded miserable. The Extras are the collecting of 15 jewelry pieces, 70 Amulets to be used in a garden of flowers, which is very attractive. You cannot use them until you buy the game, however. There are also 15 Bestiary pages that are just pictures, nothing more. There are indicators for the collectibles in the lower left that will glow when you need to find one. It's a good thing because everything is so camouflaged because of the color scheme. There is a replay of 17 HOS and 17 Puzzles. You also have the regular CE fluff if you care for that. I didn't care for the HOS, particularly the story type ( I almost exited the game right there). The animal HOS was so dark, it was a strain to see, so I opted to do the Match 3 instead. There needs to be a skip for HOS. The HOS can be completed in hardly no time, whereas the puzzles can end up taking more time than the gameplay itself. It becomes one big distraction. I would also like to mention that the screen shots in the guide are so small. It would be considerate to make them larger. There certainly is room enough on the pages. The puzzles were becoming too frequent for my taste (outnumbering the HOS as usual) and I utilized the skip for them. I wasn't enjoying the demo, so why bother with time consuming puzzles? I began using the hint also because I just lost interest. There is a very good transportable map which is useful. This was disappointing. I was hoping for something much better than what was delivered here.....maybe next time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Did Anyone Vet This Story? This game reminds me of a badly done school essay, written on the bus, and handed in during first period! Your mother, the queen of the Levrosse Kingdom, tells you that your father, King Harold, has been poisoned by evil fairy Queen Celeste from the Hallowed Kingdom. To cure him, you must take Queen Celeste's wings and bring them back to dear old Mom. Unfortunately one of Queen Celeste's spies reports your quest to her. This will not be an easy task! Good stuff: the game has HOPs, puzzles, collectibles, artwork and a story. Most of those elements work against it instead of to its benefit! There will also be the switching between characters as in previous Dark Romance games, but since they are adversaries, it does not seem to work as well this time around. Bad stuff: Aside from the obvious knockoff of the "Malificent" story, there is enough over-coloring and bad story details to spoil any game play enjoyment possible. Extra ink blurs every scene. When scenes clear a bit, the overwhelming color just hurts your eyes. As for story details, how about fairy Queen Celeste being locked in her own home? Does she use magic to open the door? Nope. She finds a leaf to slide under the door and a pin to poke the key out onto the leaf! She heads out to the garden and must find the key after putting out a fire started by the enemy. Magic, now? Nope. Let's repair the fire hose and hook it up. Of course there are many more bad details, but you don't need to take my word. Please play the demo and judge for yourself.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from My least favorite in this series I usually love the Dark Romance games. This one could not grab my interest no matter what. I still have to play the bonus game, and have been putting it off, just to show what little interest this game brought out in me. Definitely my least favorite.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Bad Parody Of Maleficent Predictable storyline of who's the main villain from the start, no decent character development romance between main hero and heroine, boringly long back and forth cutscenes, repetitive hidden objects, and lousy bonus game. All in all an absolute waste of time and money with a game that did have pure potential but badly executed as a poor parody of Maleficent.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trial: Sloppy Graphics. Poor Dialogue. Horrible Music! Graphics varied from good to what happened? PINK! PURPLE! WAY TOO BRIGHT COLORING. The colors started to bother my eyes after about 15 minutes. Often the scenes were too dark and cluttered. Lots of back and forth and with little clarity. Music was immediately annoying and repetitive. Some special effects also made you suffer with clunks and/or continuous noises. What is wrong with silence sometimes? I don't need to hear a clunk when find something or complete a task. The Mini games were abundant with new take on old themes but time wasting. Hidden Objects games were sort of a mess. The story was all over the place and voice overs were poorly done. Script was dull and boring and sometimes confusing. This just didn't seem like the usual output from this developer. Someone dropped the ball with this one. I didn't finish the trial because I found this game more irritating than enjoyable. Give it a trial run to see what you think.
