Wanderlust: Shadow of the Monolith Collector's Edition is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 28.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice made adventure HOPA Game Mad Head Games' "Wanderlust - Shadow of the Monolith" is a remarkable game. You go to an exciting archaeological congress! Your brother is kidnapped by a dangerous group. Your journey takes you into the jungle to solve the puzzle. This is the story of "Wanderlust - Shadow of the Monolith". The story is consistent and always present. Wanderlust - Shadow of the Monolith is a classic hidden object puzzle adventure game. There are locations and HO scenes that are really worth seeing. The artworks are all very beautiful and drawn with attention to detail. The HO scenes mostly search for text or silhuette. Many of the mini games are new or innovative. They always bring the story forward. There are also some action mini-games. Here is more than the usual bid! The soundtrack is suitable for the setting and adapts well to the story and the locations. It is so discreet that it does not disturb the game. Summary: Very nice made adventure HOPA Game. If you'd like to see more game reviews, finde me on facebook as "Hidden-Casuals".

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Game Kept Pulling Me Back From Exiting ; ) I was having a "Like" and not "Like" opinion of this game but soon starting to Like it a lot . I am not a mini-game fan but more than several were were the ones I do enjoy & the rest I just skipped (remembering that the Developers were trying to please a multitude of players and not just me.) And the best part was being able to replay the scenes where I forgot the Collectables. The good positive reviews my Fellow Fishies have written should answer your questions about about the finer points, but for me I fully recommend it : ) I'm giving this one a ***** 5 out of ***** 5 in my personal enjoy-ability score :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Third Times the Charm! Jane and Victor have arrived for their Archeology lecture, but quickly find that there is more involved than a simple speech. Victor is kidnapped and Jane barely escapes with the help of another featured speaker, who sacrifices his freedom for her getaway. Jane is soon hot on the trail of the Bad Guys and deep in the jungle. She'll soon be up against the Bad Guys and a Hooded Stranger as she struggles to save her brother. Good stuff: There are a lot of mini-games/puzzles, HOPs, great artwork, and an interesting mystery. Collectibles include both morphing items and signs in the CE bling. I did especially appreciate the artwork which managed to be well colored without tipping any single color into overload. Who knew! Bad stuff: There are a lot of puzzles and a lot of pieces to put together for each lock/problem. Most of them are interesting and different - one door opens with four different mini-games, all different. You do have to translate bits of several different languages from a translator you carry with you. One set of drawings is well spaced and clear, another couple are crowded and jumbled together. After the first few translations, this part of the game loses its charm! Bottom line: The third game in the Wanderlust series is heads and shoulders above most of what we've seen this year. With an engaging story, not too many logic hiccups, and good game play, Mad Head may have hit their stride. I enjoyed the two previous Wanderlust games for their quirky humor and stories. I think this one may be even better! Please try the demo for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Storyline and Rich Game Play Mad Head is one of my favorite developers. This game (and series) are excellent examples of some of their best work. Storyline, HOPs, and puzzles are integrated, putting the player into the sci-fi adventure without a lot of tool fixing and inventory carrying. BTW, inventory use is creative, forcing the player to think. There are a lot of puzzles but they occur as a way to progress in the game so they seem natural. The pace and play is not your usual HOPA. I found the Bonus Chapter to be just as challenging. All in all a lot of fun. This review is based upon completed play of the game and bonus chapter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jungle Adventure I loved this game so much I had to keep playing until I finished. It has way too many puzzles but I would try them and I could do most of them. There is a lot to do and I wouldn't want to play this without the guide. 3 chapters + Bonus. I liked the action puzzles the most. I liked the timing part. You have places where you wish you wrote something down. If you play in custom, the skip and hint can be as low as 1 second. So you can skip any puzzle you don't like. I liked the matching pairs, matching symbols, action puzzles, jigsaws, bouncing red and blue balls and shooting balls at the red ball. You have 18 morphs in the hops, 29 morphs in the scenes and 29 collectible symbols to find. This is the first time I seen the morphs separated in the achievements and I like it. The hops aren't pretty but they seem necessary at the time. They are varied. You have to find all the collectibles and morphs to open the Ultimate hops. The Ultimate puzzle wasn't my favorite and I wish they had the shooting at the red ball or the bouncing red and blue balls for the Ultimate puzzle. You can go back and find some collectible and morphs you missed as I was fighting something in a arena and didn't know they had collectibles in that scene, so I picked them up. I had all of them but at that place so I was very happy to get them. The morphs were hard for me to find in the jungle just because there is so much in the scenery. I would wait and wait to find them. I wished they moved quicker in those scenes. You have a book of ancient languages and you have to use it often to understand things and people. So you match the symbols using the magnifying glass. It won't work without the magnifying glass. Then you understand what is said or what they want. The third chapter had something I haven't seen before and it was just wow. I really Loved this game and they did a fine job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GETS MY VOTE FOR BEST GAME OF THE YEAR! Wanderlust Shadow of the Monolith is the third game in the series and, IMHO, it is the best. What a terrific and creative game that made me feel like I was truly a part of the adventure. There were surprises at every turn, so fasten your seat belts and prepare to blast off into a sci-fi game that will have you globe-trotting and racing through different time periods. I love Shadow of the Monolith, mostly because of the excitement I felt while playing this ultra-creative offering from a favorite developer. Many of the HOP scenes are puzzle-like in design and I wasn’t sure if I was actually playing a puzzle or a HOP. Although there is a gimmicky book to use where we must translate various symbols, I actually enjoyed using it. The other HOPS are lists or silhouettes of objects to find, and some storybook scenes. I loved the HOPS but they are rather overshadowed by the puzzles, many of which I skipped because I disliked them and didn’t want to waste my time. That being said there were a lot of puzzles that I did enjoy – those that involved using the old gray-matter to solve. The storyline is excellent and I couldn’t stop playing as I wanted to see how it ended as I played through this terrific game. It has been a long time since I played a game that was as exciting as Shadow of the Monolith. The feeling of actually being present in the game is something I don’t believe I’ve felt before and I’ve played close to 2,000 of them. There were a few jump-scares in the game and one involved a snake but unless you have ophidiophobia, it won’t be too overwhelming. This is certainly a unique game that showcases the talent of this amazing development team. Wanderlust: Shadow of the Monolith is a game that can replayed and will most likely become a classic favorite with gamers. Although I love the game and purchased the CE immediately when it was available, please try the demo to see if Wanderlust Shadow of the Monolith is a game you will enjoy as well. Happy gaming!
