Hermes: War of the Gods Collector's Edition is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE GODS LOOK FAVORABLY ON THIS GAME I wasn't a fan of the first Hermes game, Rescue Mission, but War of the Gods is an incredible Time Management game. The graphics are really, really good, and the tasks are so interesting that they hold your attention, so much so, that it becomes quite addicting and it's hard to stop playing! The quality is what makes this game, it doesn't need puzzle rune collectibles, morphs or hidden objects to bulk it up for quantity, it's just a great game that packs a punch full of solid entertainment, even the storyline is good! You can play in a Relaxed (untimed) Mode, Novice, or Expert Mode of difficulty over 50 Main Levels (+CE Bonus Campaigns) with 32 Achievement Trophies to earn. The Collector's Edition "Extra's" also includes 8 Music Soundtracks, 8 Concept Art Pictures, and a visual/audio Strategy Guide. There is a tab for 6 Collectibles, but I haven't encountered any so far, that I know of. I love the Olive Tree and Olive Grove food concept, and that production of the Olive Trees can be upgraded as well as the production buildings like Stone Quarries, Banks and Sawmills. There are unusual resources to collect or scavenge, like weapons and chariots, or you may need to plant specialty items for potion ingredients like cactus blossoms to ward off nightmares. For me, including different tasks each level that isn't the same old, same old, been there done that kinda things, really did the trick, and made me want to keep playing because there was always something new to look forward to. Bonuses have a unique feature of rebuilding the Olympic Village to accumulate the power of the gods by helping the local villagers and fighting enemies. Each repair will increase your powers in percentage increments, and each building can be repaired several times. The construction does take a while to complete, but you can continue to play and the bonuses will automatically take effect when complete. During some game levels, you can pick up various bonuses as well such as Speeding up Production. *Stadium: Workers Run Faster. *Gymnasium: Workers Work Faster. *Wrestling Hall: Reduces the time it takes Ares to defeat enemies. *Olympic Flame Bowl: Reduces the cost of repairing Ares' base. *Sacred Grove of Altidus: Olives will ripen faster. *Olympic Temple of Zeus: Reduces the cost of temple repairs. *Port of Champions: Reduces the cost of repairing the gods' altars. *Hippodrome: Hermes runs faster. If you're a Time Management fan, this is a must-have game. If you haven't played a TM game, or you played one and didn't like it, this game will certainly change your mind, yea, it's that good! Rated 5 out of 5 by from Is this the perfect game? It just may be! I honestly cant find fault with this game. It has lots of bonus levels, a numbered and verbal strategy guide, three modes of play including relaxed, the ability to skip dialogue (bottom right arrows), colourful graphics, easy play mechanics, novelty and strategy. It has collectables but only six over the whole game, so not sure yet how you get those? One novel thing is that to get your 'faster work' bonus or 'cheaper price' etc you must use the points you earn to restore an ancient Olympic village and receive them. They themselves can actually be upgraded just as you would a building to get better yet again. Others just appear on the screen amongst the resources for you to click on, and some in the regular 'window'. I think because the game screen is quite busy they needed to spread them. The game is a quite standard of build and upgrade, collect, banish bad folk and clear paths and help good folks lol.. There are plenty of traders too. But there are little quirks like having to recruit your workers sometimes by giving them their wishes (resources), scenes where you must clear the fog and guess which way to go, and chariots to search which are basically a lucky dip. If you like TM's of any sort you will appreciate the quality here. The gameplay is very smooth, and there is enough action to keep you thinking constantly. All I can say is try the demo to make sure, but I think its absolutely terrific! Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful game but a couple of demo tips Others will provide a more detailed review than me but thought I would give a couple of tips while you are trying the demo. There is a lot going on this game which for me is great however I thouroughly recommend you playing the demo in relaxed so you can get further in the game.If you decide to buy you can then have it on timed if you so want. The next thing is do not build anything in the Olympic village during your demo as for some strange reason the builders take for ever to build anything here and this eats up your demo time. There is enough going on without wasting a couple of minutes. once you then decide to buy then start to build the village. It will prompt you to build something in the village but I would advise you not to as that caught me out and I lost valuable demo time for something that can wait. This whole game is very well thought out, well worth the extra for a CE as you get a further 20 levels . Enjoy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I ABSOLUTELY LOVE "HERMES: WAR OF THE GODS"!! This game is much fun and I LOVE the music! The gameplay is fun and the people and objects are plenty large enough! This game is a product of ALAWAR ENTERTAINMENT. I have enjoyed every game they have produced. I get a kick out of hearing the people shout woo-hoo and yayyyyy when they accomplish a task. The game play is like the usual building and gathering, but the graphics are much better than most and the characters and items are large and are easily recognized. Give it a try!! Today is bargain day, too....WIN.WIN!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic TM game I enjoyed Hermes: Rescue Mission so I jumped on this one immediately. I purchased it after playing the trial version. It is hands down a very good and very enjoyable game all the way around. No need for me to go into a lot of detail since others have done that so well. In no particular order, these are some of the reasons I am enjoying this game so much. 1) There is an option to play as an un-timed game (a must for me). 2) It has all the usual elements of a solid TM game, but every level has something a little bit different to accomplish from the previous level. 3) Excellent graphics and engaging story line. 4) It's strategy based and I get to decide which resource buildings I need to build first - so my brain has to think about it. 5) I like the humor of the characters. 6) It's very easy to understand the goals and item quantities you need to achieve the goals. 7) If you click on certain items, other items will light up or flash to tell you that there is a connection/goal between them. As one other reviewer said - it's hard to stop playing this game. I keep thinking "Just one more round, and then I'll stop." Haha - 4 rounds later and I'm still playing, even in the middle of the night. Same as last night. Good thing I'm retired and can stay up these ridiculous hours to play TM games. It's 6:30 am as I type this and I've been playing this game for over 2 hours now. Definitely a 5 star game for me - I'm totally hooked on it and having so much fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TM Fun with No Glitches This game runs and plays beautifully, with no problems. It's also addictive and a lot of fun! And the integrated strategy guide is great. I hope this series continues!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very difficult at times. Seconds count! Challenging game! Having said that, I have a slow computer, which I'm sure made it much more difficult. I had to play each level several times to get three stars, but I believe it's my computer that's the problem. I would buy it again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hey, I Kinda Like This :) A new offering by the developers of Rescue Team series and many others. Here we have a resource management game set in ancient Rome and in fact, many of the elements are really cute with the themes and details. Graphics are OK, with lots of primal coloring, one main color like emerald green and then colorful little animated details. I like that tasks are varied starting with the very first level, with some complexity and resources coming from more than one source. You have to hover your mouse over sources to determine whether they can be upgraded--a VERY nice touch. Great efforts to move away from the humdrum ordinary game play. Collectors Edition features a strategy guide, which if you like this genre, you may not need, as well as concept art, music and achievements. If I could, I'd give this 4.5 stars. It's pretty good!
