Fairy Godmother Stories: Cinderella Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cinderella! Hello friends! As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to others. This developer always has bright clear colors, but they are not over powering or tiring on the eyes. Graphics are very well done, with no blurring except occasionally when going in and out of close ups. This seems to be the norm for any developer these days. Animation is not too bad. Some movements are a bit stiff, but otherwise nicely done. Voices are age and character appropriate, but still not a lot of character interaction. Music became quite annoying very quickly. Fortunately, it was not constant. We did have a lot of "dead air" during the game, where there could have been some sort of background sfx, but we had none. What few sfx we did have were well done. HOGs are a variety and quite well done. We have highlighted words, silhouettes, interactive lists and lists. Items are not difficult to find and the scenes are fairly clutter free. We could switch to a match 3 game if you wanted something different. Puzzles for the most part were challenging, even in easy mode. Nothing new, but a nice variety. Hint system is very helpful and, of course, we have the perfect map. Areas are clearly identified by picture and whether or not you have missed a collectible. This also doubles are our jump/transport map. I always enjoy the collectibles from this developer. We have a combination of morphing fairyland items (15); various magic shoes (15), and moonstones (53). The shoes were quite easy to spot, but the other two...no so much. We use the moonstones to buy what looks like items for a lab or a magic shop. Nicely done. Even though I was caught off guard by the roll reversal between Cinderella and her stepmother, I did like this game. We are constantly on the move, with not a tremendous amount of backtracking, and we have some challenging puzzles to deal with as well. I think I need to play this one out and see why the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak. I think most all levels of players will find this one interesting and challenging. Gave this one a 4.75. Yes, I am buying this one. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Play on!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Liked it but didn't love it... I usually love Domini games and this had good and bad points. What I did like were the puzzle games and graphics but the story didn't feel like a fairy story and I agree that it was more of a detective story than a fairy tale which really isn't a bad thing. I have no regrets buying it and if you play the game for what it is and forget about the concept of the characters, it's quite good. Towards the end though, some of the inventory items just didn't make sense and I had to ask for hints and I hate doing that and couldn't be bothered looking through the Strategy Guide. I'm recommending it because it wasn't that bad to put into the not recommend category.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fractured Fairy Tale It Is! I welcome this new series and a new perspective on an old tale. For me, there is just enough magic so the story is plausible. Most of the tasks are the usual ones but some tried and true inventory pieces are used differently. The game pace is even with not too much back and forth. I so appreciate Domini's offering a Match 3 option to HOS; the puzzles are easy and like the inventory, some have a facelift. The bonus chapter is a new story with new scenes, something I am seeing more frequently, and I applaud this change. It really makes the CE worth it for me. Well done, Domini!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from WHAT THE BIBBIDY-BOBBIDY-BOO DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH FAIRY GODMOTHERS?? Completed Game approximately 5 hours (including completion of all mini-games & CE Bonus Chapter) 23 Scene Locations + 9 in the CE Bonus Chapter Difficulty Range: Beginners There's no Bibbidy-Bobbidy-Booing going on here folks, and Walt would never consider hiring these writers! (Do you hear that? That's just Walt turning over in his grave) I have been looking forward to this new addition to the Domini family since I read about its upcoming release. Fairy Godmother Stories had so much potential, a Fantasy Game with a Fairy Godmother who can make someone's wishes come true with a wave of her wand sounds so magical, so whimsical, so fun! Instead, what I got was a Fairy Godmother who doesn't do ANYTHING MAGICAL, she doesn't even use her magic wand until the final scene and that was a scene that was anything BUT MAGICAL! Don't let this title fool you, the Fairy Godmother is nothing more than a Detective, the storyline is nothing more than an average non-magical plot, this game is NO different than any of this developer's other game series, which always involves a detective with a gimmicky device! Note to developers: Would you like to hire me as a writer? I guarantee my imagination is far more creative! Morphing Objects & Collectibles: There are 15 Magic Devices of Fairyland that are way too obvious and morph far too quickly to present any kind of challenge. There are also 15 Magic Shoe Collectibles that are a tad bit less obvious. Each scene has a Zoom-Zone Moonstone Collectible of varying amounts (with the exception of the final scene in the BC) The Moonstones are used to purchase 15 Magic Potions Ingredients. The Collectibles and Morphing Objects are available throughout the Main Games as well as the Bonus Chapter (CE version) Hidden Object Scenes: There are 12 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter with an optional Match 3 Game available. The scenes aren't very creative, in fact, the #7 HOP required you to find an object that would be created if you combined the 2 Silhouetted Shapes (sun + Glasses=__) and I was able to correctly pick all but 1 item without looking at the Combo Silhouettes shown! There are several variations offered such as Interactive Listed Items, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Listed Multiples of Item Finds, Find & Replace Items, Combo Finds, Spot the Difference Finds, and a Follow the Recipe Find HOP's, Mini-Games: There are 20 Mini-Games +9 in the CE Bonus Chapter, most of which can be played in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode. Domini did a terrible job with the instructions, in my opinion, simplistic puzzles would have detailed instructions while complex puzzles would contain one line that didn't explain anything?? Below are brief descriptions of some of my personal favorite puzzles from the game. 1-Chose paths 1-3 at the correct time to sneak past the guards. 2-Use directional arrows to pick up the gems scattered around the board and place them into their slots in the center. (gems or groups will cling to the central gem) 3-Swap lock sections from the left and right to complete the openings. 4-Use directional arrows to guide the pointer through the maze to unlock 3 different lock pins. 5-Drag various vials & toppers to place them into square grids w/o overlapping objects. 6-Select golf balls that move in varying speeds in the correct order so they all reach their holes at the same time. Bonus Chapter: (Collector's Edition version only) A Fairy Godmother's work is never done! The Fairy Godmother receives an urgent phone call from Charlotte. one of the students she met at the college, who believes something terrible has happened to her Grandmother Amanda. This is a fairly-lengthy chapter that takes place over 9 Scene Locations with 9 additional Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes, You will pick up the remaining 4 Morphing Magic Devices of Fairyland, 5 Magic Shoes, and 8 Moonsouls (of various amounts (one moonsoul may be worth 1 or 3) which allows you to purchase the final Potions. Collector's Edition Extra's 10 Wallpapers (all with uninteresting characters) 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks. 27 Cutscene Movie Videos, 17 Replayable Mini-Games, 17 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Achievements to Earn. 15 Morphing Magic Devices of Fairyland, 15 Magic Shoes. 53 Moonsouls (used to purchase Ingredients for Potions) 6 Main Chapters +Bonis Chapter, and a Builti-In Strategy Guide.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Someone Is Out To Embarrass All Fairy Godmothers! There has been a series of robberies in Fairyland. Now Cinderella has arrived at your door to see you, her Fairy Godmother. She has come seeking your help. You apparently are incompetent to fill that post as you need several puzzles and a pair of chopsticks just to open your own front door from the inside! Walking in the door right behind Cinderella are a pair of peacekeepers who have a search warrant for your home. While you are still looking at the search warrant, the first guy in the door pops up with a glass slipper he found in your front room. As glass slippers have been left at the scene of all the bank robberies, you seem to be the guilty party - and an incompetent criminal who leaves damaging evidence laying around! Along with the over saturated and darkly colored artwork that seems to blur between scenes, the story itself is a dismal failure both as a fairy tale and as a mystery. Nothing makes sense. Really. You break out of your jail cell and proceed to leave the building several times, only to climb back inside to do "essential" stuff like give a ball to a dog, or cut metal guitar strings with nail clippers! You "follow" the real criminal to a dorm only to see her climb in a window. A student standing outside does not notice the criminal going in the window, but does notice her hand bag being stolen. As an incompetent fairy godmother and criminal, you decide she needs a sedative - you might as well add medical quack to your list of occupations. I would heartily recommend that you play this demo - it will provide endless fodder for jokes with your friends. If you are looking for a good mystery or fairy tale game, keep trying.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Another one bites the dust Well back to back duds. Are these creators going for a record. One of the worst games I come across lately.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst Game of the Year Award Goes To...... This one. Most definitely this one. Another obvious computer generated game. Same repetitive tasks, flat characters and for what was supposed to be a magical adventure instead fell flat on it's face. I think I hated this game more than any other this year because I was so excited to see it, so the disappointment was made that much worse. It's like when you see something that looks delicious, then bite into it and taste only salt. So yeah, pretty salty on this one.
