New Yankee 8: Journey of Odysseus Collector's Edition is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Happy to See This Read the few reviews but was convinced I'd buy it anyway. Was happy to see all the 5 Stars. Don't have anything new to add as to how fun and challenging the game is but I do have a couple comments for the Devs: 1) Don't start the game immediately, start it when you click on a move to make. 2) With 1 in mind make sure you can still place your cursor over an item to see how much it will cost to construct/destroy. This way you can plan an attack on the level. 3) Have a "Skip Dialogue" button, I read it the first time but if I'm replaying the level I don't need to see it again as I just want to get playing. With those in mind I think the game would be near Perfect! Keep up the good work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection What a perfect game for lock down! This is definitely one I'll be playing over and over (like all the others in this series). I could not find a single thing I didn't like about this game. For the person who asked previously, to get to the bonus levels you need to click on the castle at the top of the map!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't find Bonus Levels I stopped the game after the final level and it mentioned something about bonus levels. Like another reviewer mentioned, when I came back to play them, I can't find them. I re-played the last level but the game just ended. No extra levels. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The graphics are terrific. I like that the characters and items are larger. It gives everyone some personality and I don't have to guess which character does what. Every now and again, they toss in some added difficulties to deal with (scorpions, skeletons, sirens, etc.) but that makes it just different enough so you're not doing the exact same thing over and over again. Renewable resources, in many of the levels, is very helpful. There were only one or two levels that I had to start over because I didn't do things in the right order in the beginning. I like not having to make a choice as to which buildings I need to build and in what order. I also like the fact that I don't have to go to the buildings to collect the resources. Every level is busy enough without that. As far as the game goes, I really enjoyed it. It is fun and challenging. There were several levels I couldn't get gold on until I had gotten several upgrades. A lot of them were very close, but I succeeded in getting gold on every level of the main game. I did have some issues where the game locked up and I had to restart. Sometimes several times in a row. But I think it's probably more an issue with my computer than with the game. It's almost 10 years old and I'm running Windows 7.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A return to the top! The last NY game (Deer Hunter) was, in my opinion, not up to the standards set by other games in the series. I love the NY games but never finished the last one; it was just boring. However I'm pleased to see a return to the top-notch game we know and love! Excellent graphics as usual; beautiful colours with crisp, clear details. Seamless game play with no issues; I see someone gave the game one star because they got a blank screen but I would suggest they re-install as mine works perfectly, The challenge remains the same throughout these games; you make it as easy or as hard as you want by choosing the mode to play in. I always play in relaxed mode first to get a feel for the game, then move on to normal mode to challenge myself. Plenty of levels to work through, along with bonuses available during the main game. First one I played was 'Battleships' but not played the others yet. The characters remain consistent throughout the series but with some new additions to give the game a slightly different feel. This time you have a green elf that can move very heavy items after a boost from a potion made by Mary. Max the dog is also back to bark at strange creatures that appear during the night. And the jeans-wearing skeletons make the occasional appearance too! Another winner from this developer who, along with a partner studio, make excellent TM games. Bought straight after trying the demo and I'm looking forward to seeing how John and Mary (and Max!) manage to change Greek history!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The graphics are great! I like all the Ny series of games but this one has gorgeous graphics! I'm on level 10 and I bought it after 3 levels. The new critters like the cute little pink pigs and the beautiful Pegasus that flies are beautiful, they have sharp colors with depth, it looks like this game has grown up. When the invisibility spell is used the tools are visible and the workers are totally invisible, it's a fun touch to watch the tools working in thin air. Yes, this has pretty much the same premise as the other seven NY, but I love this one for the beauty of the graphics, the colors and the new depth to these characters. The trolls are sometimes hard to find. but they are cute too, and they grow after they drink the potion. There is no more giant robot, the troll whacks the large blockages. I also like that there are three modes to play this game in, I always play the untimed casual game, but there are two other modes for the more serious gamer. Bottom line: I like this game a lot! *I never review any of the games, but I felt like this version of this series was my exception breaker. *

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game When is saw this game on BFG, I was out of town and couldn't wait to be back home so I could buy it, with no hesitation. I have all of the New Yankee games and have played them all over and over again It is one of the better TM games in my opinion. I'm on level 15 and have had no problems. I love it just as much as I did the others.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect, like always First of all; I find it very odd that reviews that are really technical issues are accepted as 1 star review. Because this game is awesome. Like every installment of this serie. No technical issues on my side, game works like clockwork. Fun factor is very high. For TM lovers this one is again a must have. Level of Challenge in Normal Mode is high, I had to play some levels several times to get the Gold Star.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Number 8..still Super Great ! This series is number 1 on my list of TM's. Often by a high number of releases games get tired or boring. NOT so this one! In this game we have travelled across not only the sea but a time warp too and find ourselves in a Greek Oddessy. The gang are all here, John, Mary, Max the dog, and Big Ears the gremlin is here to help not hinder, but he must first drink the potion that Mary makes once you have filled up her cauldron with mana, and the effect only last a brief time. (took me a bit to get the hang of that) He is the only one that can remove the large Greek columns. The strategy begins almost immediately, and if you do waste your resources on the wrong thing or head in the wrong direction..you WILL find yourself without...stuck...and have to repeat. Sometimes your goals are unknown as you don't know exactly which resource you should be collecting until you actually get to your target goal. There are puzzle pieces which are marked on the map, and new mini games every few levels. I have only come across two so far..a version of battleship guessing where your enemy is on a blind grid, and bird battle which is just a shooting game stopping birds running off with food. (not really new...just new thieves lol) There are potions and bonuses and all the features that are familiar. Buildings and houses, spells and obstacles, John battling the foe, Max chasing the bad creatures etc, but what is new is the setting and the story and dialogue (which you still cant skip). It is new and fresh but still gives you a chuckle. If you love TM, this is one of the best quality series you will find and it just keeps being that! Always try the demo, and give yourself time to figure out the new features, but for me, I am in TM heaven. Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They just get better and better This Review based on whole game including extra levels Game 8, some games when you get to the 8th game are not much difference so does this pull a punch? Of course it does. I now have all 8 games and each time there is a wow factor and you think it can't get any better. There are the usual attributes that make this game series what it is known for, all the regulars are there, ok Max the dog can get a bit annoying with his barking but the devs are forever looking at new angles and really put a lot into making these games. I don't want to give too much away but it is a challenge from the word go, a fairly easy level 1 then off we go. Each level there are different tasks and they progressively get harder. As regards the demo to get the most out of your hour's demo play on relaxed, that way you can get further in to the game to give you more of an idea, then if you purchase play on what ever level you like. I did this whole game on relaxed level in order to get a feel for it and it is a challenge on relaxed so now I am upping the anti. There is so much to do in this game that you will never get bored if you are a TM buff like myself. The odd level is a bit less tasking every now and then but I think that could be to let you destress a bit and give you a rest, bit of a calm before the storm if you like. Still good fun though. I did find however that the last level before the extra games could have been a bit more of a challenge, Don't get me wrong it is still a challenge but I felt could have been a bit more of a task to complete. So now on to is it worth paying the extra for a CE ? In my opinion yes and I am glad I did. There are 15 more challenging levels plus a very good strategy guide if you need to use it. I did not on relaxed but on the harder levels it is a good bonus if you wish to study the best ways to get 3 stars. There are Jigsaw pieces to find but not on every level but they are fairly easy to locate. These just make up the puzzle as you collect them which I would have preferred to get all the pieces then make the puzzle myself.. If you want a strategy guide and are happy with 15 more levels then the CE is worth it, the rest of the extras are not worth the extra, otherwise wait for the SE .Its such a compelling game no way could I wait for the SE but thats just me. What I did like about this is it gets fairly challenging in the demo time, a lot of games are not that good in the demo time so give a wrong opinion of the game, on the other hand, some games start with a challenge then cool off but for me this is a challenge all the way through and lives up to its reputation of being one of the top TM series produced, in my opinion. One last thing I will say is (This is the same in other games in this series) that it would be really handy Devs if you could number the levels on the map instead of having to hover over a marker to reveal what level it is. The levels are all over the place, so much easier to locate say level 15 if you could actually see where level 15 was. Apart from that I am very happy but please demo first, do not take my word for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NO, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THIS GAME, BUT... Perhaps there is something wrong with the fact that none of the reviews are going through. This is one of the best Time Management games available, it has humor, it is challenging, it has unusual tasks and it is fun. Why isn't BF releasing any reviews when everyone is anxiously awaiting to hear from their favorite reviewers? I'm sure the developers are waiting on pins and needles as well yet for days the only review is a non-review that states the game doesn't work when it works 100% perfect and meets and exceeds my expectations. Why aren't all the other reviewer's reviews being released when I know they have been submitted? Just an observation and wanted to say kudos to the developers for a job well done! Don't pass this one up folks!
