Angkor: Celebrations is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow - this is going to be a BF favourite! I played the full trial of Angkor and the hour just flew by! It reminds me of the first PC game I ever played - Jewel Quest - with its bright tiles and ever-increasing challenges. This is a Match-3 game with mini-games and jigsaws included and also a building game as your efforts create the mysterious Kila. Clean, clear graphics, non-intrusive music and a gentle storyline. You can play in any of three modes - I chose Relaxed - and each level was an absolute joy! Highly recommended for all players. :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ? FIRE-BREATHING DRAGONS ? UNIQUE FEATURES ? LOTS OF CUSTOMIZABLE OPTIONS ? Unlike the recent rash of Match 3 games that Big Fish has been spewing out, that was nothing more than a flashy F2P phone app, converted to a desktop version, Angkor: Celebrations is a challenging game with unique features that use strategies and skills, rather than bombs and brawn, to beat the levels. What a pleasant change of pace...and it's about time! There are several customizable options available, you can choose Fast or High-quality Graphics, Enable/Disable available Move Hints, and Enable/Disable the Fireworks that will appear after the levels are completed. I also loved that the next level can quickly be accessed by clicking on the arrow or play button for those of us who have a "need for speed" You can play in a Relaxed Mode, a Limited Moves Mode, or a Limited Time Mode and you can then choose between a Casual and Expert Mode. There are 14 Trophy Achievements to earn as well. The story does plug in your selected Profile name so don't forget to be creative and have some fun with that one! (okay, I can't help it, my sarcasm gets the best of me sometimes) Once again, the only issue for me was that the tiles were too similar in size, shape, and color which made it difficult at times to find available matches, but they did add a hint feature that alerts you to a match if you take too long. (can be enabled/disabled) The Level Goals are shown at the top of the screen requiring you to make a specified number of each specified tile shown, which usually includes making matches on all the Blue Cells once, and the Green Cells twice. You must also collect all Essence Gems by making an adjacent match, and some items need to be dropped to the bottom of the board. There are only two Power-ups available, a Trident to remove a chosen Tile, and a Shuffle Feature that reshuffles the field, but they must recharge after each use. Large Matches give you a Bonus Tile on the board such as Column Destroyer or Row Destroyer, and these become more powerful the larger the match (X3) The Obstructions were rather unique, although there are the standard Dirt cells, Wooden and Steel Crates, Chained and double Chained tiles, etc. as you progress, the obstacles become more elaborate. There are Fire-breathing Dragons that are triggered by adjacent matches to shoot flames into nooks and crannies that open up new boards or trigger chain reactive explosions. There are Steel Crates with constantly changing numbers called Flip Flop tiles that alternate between being weak or strong so the trick is to make an adjacent match when the number indicates the tile is at its most vulnerable state. I've played a ton of Match 3 games and I've never seen this particular feature before, so I have to give major Kudo points to ironcode for this impressive feature! I love Match 3 games that are strategy-based and this one fits the bill. It may not be as colorful and flashy as the last few Match 3 games that have been offered, but those were the kind of games that practically played themselves. With those other games, all you are required to do is make a bunch of large matches and the board becomes covered with bombs that explode to remove nearly all the tiles within a few seconds per level, no strategy, no skill, just click, explode, click again, explode some more, it may be colorful to watch but I want to actually play, not watch explosions! If you want a real Match 3 game, not a F2P game that was originally designed as a mobile app and then converted to a desktop game, give this one a try, it has unique features, some of which I've never seen before! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very challenging There is a lot I like about this game and it has some rather cool features. A certain amount of keys you need to drop to open up other sections and obstructions that have a strong side and a weak side, Then I came across this really cool feature where you have a wall which ranges in strength from zero to nine and if you strike when the wall is near zero you are able to knock out more of the wall. I was very impressed with all this and my time ran out so I bought it. Then I never saw this feature again and although this is a very challenging game I now find it a bit of a let down that at the moment there is no repeat of the weakening wall or indeed the keys to unlock other areas. Some features are repeating like you have to get a certain amount of a tile to unlock an area. I just feel at the moment I am missing out which is why only 4 stars. I like that you can skip mini games straight away and for some odd reason you can remove the fireworks at the end of each level. In all a very good game

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Refreshing M3 Finally a match3 game that isn't boringly easy. You have to work for your 3 stars in this one even in relaxed mode and that's the way it should be unless it's a game meant for kiddies or advertised as very easy/no challenge. First you are prompted to choose either relaxed or expert mode. I chose relaxed and couldn't change it to expert when I tried to after playing a few levels. After choosing relaxed/expert, you're then prompted to choose timed or limited moves for even more challenge or play timeless/endless moves. You can change that after starting the game. At the end of the 1st gameboard, you are given the option to "skip fireworks" if you're one of those that doesn't want to sit through them, just want to get on with gameplay. That msg doesn't appear in subsequent levels but you can choose to skip the fireworks in Options at any time. You aren't given a ton of matches ready for you to make at the beginning of each level -- as I said, you have to work for your stars in this game. I encountered no technical issues, found the graphics, music and sound effects pleasant and the level of challenge to my liking -- especially the extra options offered. If you're a fan of M3 games, I highly recommend you try the demo for this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like this game I'm a "ditto" on Pennmom's review on this one. I played for about 30 minutes and bought it. It's a bit unique and you do have to think about what you're doing. I also liked the many choices of customization. And several other things. Many of the recent M3 games releases have been pretty "blah," but this one "has some teeth to it." I really don't need a strong story line with a M3 game, so that's not a huge factor for me either way. This is a very strong 4-star game for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good enough for a coupon It offers variety with some puzzles in between which I like. it's challenging in a way that you have to think about your next move. That is why I will recommend this game for Match 3 lovers. It's a good pass time to take your mind of things.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK Game There is not much to this game. No story line as such but the dynamics of it are different to any other Match 3 so it makes it a bit more interesting. As per the other reviewers good for a coupon. I suggest you try for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but needs improvement. Angkor:Celebrations is a good introduction to strategy based match 3. I normally love these games but I'm not going to get this one I don't think. I played the demo on casual untimed and timed and noticed these issues: Yellow and orange are too close on my screen causing eye strain. No explanation how to get 3 stars. No ability to replay levels even though they are numbered. Even with the tutorial on, certain features are not explained. The game does have many nice qualities. I love being able to turn off hints and fireworks. The play options can be changed during the game and some of the challenges quite good. If you are new to the genre I would recommend this game. If you are an expert, try it and see.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Another Not So Hot Match 3 I do not usually review a game but this one I decided to, I love match 3 games but this one just not do it for me anyway, it was too slow moving and kind of klunky, mini games were alright, the game just did not move fast enough for a match 3 for me to really enjoy it, really on the fence about buying this one, will probably wait a few days and then maybe play rest of demo and decide, try it you may like it better than I did...Sorry not used to reviewing so probably not a very good review.....

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I am disappointed. I was hoping to really love this game but.... I like a challenge. This game does not deliver. With difficulty set on expert and timed there is always plenty of time to finish all levels with minutes to go. That is just not much fun. The game play in interesting and original but just kind of boring. If the developers tighten up the difficulty it would be more fun. Good game for people who want to relax and just like to play.
