Modern Art 10 is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful artwork I love this series and will never tire of it. For those who can't finish all the first section in the demo here is a list of all the artwork included: Scenery 22; Food 3; Animal/bird 9; Flower 14; Still life 16 (many of these are flowers too). I prefer Modern Art to other paint by number games as I don't have to use the zoom in order to complete the picture. Some other games have teensy-weensy pieces that do nothing but add frustration for me. Are there any artists who use magnifying glasses to paint with?? I start with the focal point and gradually colour that before flowing into the rest of the painting and always leave one tiny section in the border unpainted so that I can resize and decide if I like it enough to make into a wallpaper. I love to admire the paintings afterwards and the textures make all the difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best One Yet I really like the variety of pictures. The colors aren't as brilliant as MA 9, but still very good. My favorite pics are the animals, then the fruit pics. I don't think any of the pics are boring. Others may find some of the pics boring, but then, "still life" isn't to everyone's liking, anyway. This is my favorite Modern Art so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from STILL LOVE MODERN ART GAMES!! These games are pretty easy, but I can't complain about the finished product. The colors are beautiful and the texturing is pretty nice. I really love paint by number games and once you finish the picture and pull back and look at it, it's very pretty. I will be adding this to my collection. I will be 81 later this month and I may never get all my "paint by number" pics done, but I will die content that I have become a great artist....thanks to this game and the many others I have collected. Even though they are easy, I really enjoy the pics when I'm done.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from INTERESTING NEW COLORS... ...But not a lot of blue sky. Fall has arrived, and with it comes the artist's favorite grays and browns. And, sigh, even after purchase all images are held hostage until we complete the 8 images on page 1 as a tutorial. No option for those of us who have been doing this for yonks. Don't get it, never will. ON THE PLUS SIDE, the themes are very interesting, even engrossing. One, a lone Autumn tree, is done in shades of gray, mauve, and you'll have to see the rest of it for yourself. I love his animals. While Art by Numbers brings us satiny harlequin and patch quilt beasties, Modern Art delights us with true to life animals, detailed down to the feather tips and each point of fur. Among other critters, in this issue we have a grand old turtle. It was a joy to paint. Another plus - we have fewer food scenes in this issue. The still lifes and landscapes are handled in an intriguing way, not the colors I was expecting, The artist's adventures into different color combos are always fascinating for me. And another thing. In this issue I can actually hear the nature sounds without having to turn the volume up from where I have it set for the music! Thank you! All in all, as long as I ignore and don't get all grumblely about the lack of happy Spring colors and joyful themes, Modern Art 12 was a good purchase that will give me hours of excellent play time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from AT LEAST THE PICTURES ARE MORE INTERESTING Although there are still a bunch of pictures in Modern Art 10 with a single image slapped in the center that doesn't allow you to paint the background, they did include pictures that are more interesting and include the entire background as well. There are 64 images available but you are forced to finish the first level before moving on to the next. I still don't understand this concept, why do I have to finish one level before proceeding? I'm sure everyone would like the ability to pick and choose from any level, at the very least, allow us to see all of the available images even if we can't paint them because they are still locked! This scenario only makes me suspicious that the rest of the images are worse. Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side. There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (as well as a "fit" tab) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. I like the textures available in the Modern Art series better than the colors offered in their Paint By Numbers series and this would be a 5-star game if they would simply add some must-have features, better colors, and better image selections. This developer is truly struggling with pictures and interesting color choices so it would be wise to seek out an artist or two for some better insight. Rated 3 out of 5 by from Nothing New I no longer buy Modern Art but still check out the demoes. The adorable kitten with great shading and texture, and the mountain scene saved the first level from being a total disappointment. The camera was ugly and I hated painting it. I finished the entire level so easily. It was like having a magic wand, "Abracadabra", it's done! Absolutely no challenge, even in the most complex images. Modern Art still has too much fruit, too many boring images. I find no fun in painting a camera, suitcase, desk globe, pocket watch, car or locomotive. They, in my opinion, don't qualify as pieces of art. There is still the over-use of dark colors. So many blacks, browns, greys and dark murky greens. I agree that they are natural, unlike in other paint games but they aren't adding much beauty. Brown skies, off-colored flowers and fruit, black and murky green landscapes just aren't appealing to me. Beyond the first level I did find some beautiful images but again I have an issue with the palette. I painted one from each level and found very few bright, lovely colors. Hopefully, this will change in future. We need them to bring more life to the paintings and to add more interest. I always love the textures. The minimal features are still present. I really like the color wheel for changing the background and numbered areas. The Hint is handy-dandy and no recharge time is involved. Zooming, too, is very helpful if you don't like painting by sweeping your mouse over the entire area to catch all the teensy numbered spots. The game always runs without any snags and the pictures can all be done over and over again. It's actually a lovely game for anyone who loves this art style and doesn't mind the colors as much as I do. It is very relaxing and as they say, "no fuss, no muss" is always a good thing. We all have different entertainment tastes but mine aren't met in Modern Art. Just a few changes could make it so much more appealing. It can be enjoyed by all ages. Guaranteed to remove some stress from a tiresome day!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for me I've watched the various painting games and the reviews for a while now. I never purchased one because I didn't think it would be any type of challenge to my brain. I like games that make me think and reason and figure things out. I couldn't imagine how a painting game could do that. I finally took the leap and purchased another painting game several weeks ago. I now have three painting games from that different series. In that series the colors are beyond brilliant and the finished pictures are stunning. I also like the mechanics of the games I purchased. So when I saw this painting game for today, I thought "What the heck! Give it a try." I played the one hour demo and then uninstalled it. I think I finished about 5 pictures. I wanted to do as many as I could so I'd be able to get an idea of what types of pictures were offered. I used the hint button a lot so I could finish a couple of the pictures more quickly. One thing that really put me off of having any interest in this game is that the colors were so incredibly drab and dreary. Downright depressing. Of course I don't know what all of the paintings look like in this newest game. If this was the only painting game available, that would be one thing; but since there is at least one other painting game that I've tried and loved, this one is a real dud for me - at least in comparison to the "other" painting game I tried and purchased. Even the painting games that I like much better than this one don't make me stretch my brain cells. I enjoyed them just because they were so gorgeous. It seems to me that if you like to "paint," there are better choices than this one that's being offered today.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from black highlights I usually enjoy these games but I can't figure out what happened with this one. I was going along fine but suddenly the shading turned from gray to black with white lettering. I was able to finish that imagine okay but when I went to next imagine it was still black shading & the numbers were black as well. WEIRD!
