Montgomery Fox and the Case Of The Missing Ballerinas is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from THIS ONE JUST MISSED THE MARK WITH HO-HUM SCENERY I loved the first Montgomery Fox game because the scenes were interesting and had lots of colors but these scenes are really boring! The locations in this second game seem very generic with the same "stock" images that most of the HOGs nowadays have and it was a big disappointment for me because I have looked forward to another Montgomery Fox episode from the developers who brought us the fantastic Mortimer Beckett series! Each of the 60 Levels has a section of a Magnifying Glass to locate (shown as a pictured item on the left side of the inventory bar) as well as a pictured Collectible Achievement (shown on the right side of the inventory bar) These collectibles show up as achievements in an old office after each HO level and has no wow factor whatsoever. Who cares about a Graduation Cap that sits on top of a garbage pail or a chocolate waffle sitting on a shelf? Getting on to the next HO scene seemed to take forever with no options to skip the boring stuff. The objects to locate are all Listed Items, shown 3 words at a time, with one item that requires you to click on the tab to change the listed word to the correct item available in each scene. Each Scene also has a Zoom Zone that sparkles and contains some of the Listed Objects. The Zoom Zone will not close once you have located all the objects. You can only play in a Relaxed Mode, there is no timer, no penalties for misclicks, or using the Hint feature. After playing a few Hidden Object Levels, you can play a puzzle or mini-game of some sort. I did enjoy some of these mini-games, particularly the one where you had to rotate U-shaped disks to roll a ball from one disk to the next until the ball reaches the end. You had to set up the pattern or the ball could go backward! Add some new features (or at least something besides magnifying glass parts) give me a skip option to quickly jump to the next HO scene, and go back to the really interesting scenes that were offered in the first game and I will be a happy detective once again! :) Stop by my new forum and have some fun! thewoodsforum.boards.net

Rated 3 out of 5 by from This is an OK game..Previous one was Very Good I am somewhat disappointed in this game as in my opinion it does not compare to the first game. The game play is nearly the same however the colors are not as vibrant the story line is not as compelling and the music is somewhat grating. Aside from that some of the objects are very well hidden, although some of them I could not tell what they were even after hitting the hint button. The fun factor of the 1st game is definitely missing from this one. It is not a horrible game, and I will recommend because it is a relaxing game. Give it a try!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Edges on Boring I could only play a few scenes at a time. Never able to complete any HO scene with out at least one hint. Some objects well hidden; others are not what I expected to see. The puzzles are fairly simple and a break from HO. The narrative, basically the detective thinking out loud in journal form. I'm can never 'see it coming', so the ending was a bit of a surprise; albeit a bit of a 'groaner'. It is definitely a different kind of HO game.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not my type of game I used a coupon for this and clearly should have tried the trial version first. I somehow had the impression that it would be a blend of puzzles and hidden object scenes but there are very few puzzles in this. If you like one hidden object scene after another, this might be the game for you.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not fun for me This is a match 3 game, but they only put 3 items to find up at a time. But for me, the worst part was that even after using hints some items were so dark that they still did not show up on my screen. Many of the newer games have the option to lighten the game screen, but this does not. It felt like a much older game. SAD as I was ready for a new game, but not this one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from An Exercise In Patience Same scenes as previous game. Same items to find in each scene. Some items so small I felt I needed a magnifying glass. Same extra 2 extra items on left and right of scene to find as last game. Played the same scenes multiple times. The game was long for that reason. Was there a purpose the collection of items in the office room? Maybe I missed it. I could have replayed the first installment again. Won't purchase another Montgomery Fox game.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Instant deal-killer I wanted to like this game; I liked the last one and thought it looked fun. But the game requires you to play full screen, and that's an instant deal-killer for me. That's not how I play a casual game, with it demanding my full and undivided attention. If I can't play it in a window, I'm not interested. So have fun, if this is okay for you. I'll wait for something better.
