Rated 5 out of 5 by from IS DOMINI RAISING ITS BAR? :O Based on the demo, custom setting (no sparkles, no task panel, no tutorial, no zoom). I was prepared to skip this game entirely because it came from Domini's studio, but what can I say - I just had to give it a try in spite of the dreadful cookie cutter games that have come out of this studio lately. Marshes Curse, even though the basic premise of vengeful witch has been done ad nauseam, is actually a good game! The game play so far is elegant and nearly devoid of tedious play-worn tasks - the one or two present in the demo are not the main focus, as is so often the case; they are more of an aside. The dialog is intelligent, and there have been no fantasy-breaking idiotic actions or mistakes. The morphies and collectibles are not always in your face, but are not terribly hard to find; they are pleasantly hidden which is a plus for me because as much as I enjoy those little extras, I don't really have the time to endlessly hunt for them. I was very surprised to see that at least one of the mini-games is one I've not played before. I even had to skip it. Blush. So. I am buying this game for myself for Christmas, and for me to say I am buying another Domini game is a really big deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FUN GAME I mostly play for the puzzles and minigames this game has fun ones that take more than 2 min to do the game moves right along and not to many hogs and the ones it has are different than the same old thing, worth the cost give it a try

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OFF ON A WITCH HUNT TO DRAIN THE SWAMP REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME 3 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 45 pages (My Time: 7 Hours) Get your amulets charged and head off to the town of Liberville to partake in a witch hunt in this premiere game in a new series. Play a royal advisor to the king who investigates unusual happenings within the kingdom. In this game, you will get two witches for the price of one – a pretty, nasty one in the main game and an ugly crone in the bonus chapter! Hopefully you can drain the swamp of these two hags causing chaos in the kingdom. This game follows the same pattern as previous games from this developer. There are three collectibles, amulets, morphing witch’s belongings, and coins. I found most easy to locate; however, I did feel some were too small to be identified. I do hope Domini will enlarge the collectibles in future games. The coins are used to purchase items for a witch’s garden upon completion of the game. The stories are well-written for both the main game and the bonus chapter. I found the pace excellent with plenty of activities within this game. As always, Domini provides more game for the money with an incredible number of creatively designed puzzles and ingenious HOP scenes. In summary, for the cost, and in comparing this game to other developers’ games, this game is well-worth the price for the entertainment value. For those who love puzzles (like me) these "puzzlemeisters" provide an exceptional number of creatively designed puzzles, most which can be played in an easy version for a light-hearted, easy, breezy game or in a hard version for those wanting more challenge. Although they are best-known for their puzzles design, I found the HOP scenes in this game ingeniously designed. This is my favorite designer and seldom am I disappointed in the quality of their games. MECHANICS: • Four (4) levels of play including a customized version. • 38 achievements. • Collect 15 amulets and 15 morphing witch’s belongings • Collect 65 witch’s coins used to purchase items for a Witch’s Garden • 10 wallpapers along with concept art, music, and video sequences • Replay 18 HOP scenes and 18 mini-games BONUS CHAPTER: It is sequel. As the king’s advisor you are off to Rainville, a town plagued by bad weather, the result of another nasty witch out for revenge. This story is a continuation of the story from the main game. There are five (5) HOP scenes and seven (7) mini-games. I found the story a nice sequel to the original game with activities like those within the main game. This is a long chapter and a nice addition to the game. HOP SCENES: There are eighteen (18) HOP scenes, all of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. Again, Domini provides more variety in creation of their HOP scenes than any other HOPA game designer. I have several favorites in this game. In one scene, the player must place items used to create a potion on the proper numbered squares. Another favorite of mine involves locating fluttering butterflies – just incredibly beautiful. Another has morphing frogs which I found amusing – Ribbit! Most have more than one scene in which to search for items and I loved one in which scenes are brought down using ropes. MINI-GAMES: There are twenty-seven (27) mini-games, eighteen (18) of which can be replayed upon completion of the game. Most can be played in an easy version for a hard version. This can bet set in the menu, but the difficulty can be changed if the puzzle proves to be too easy or too difficult. SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE 27 MINI-GAMES FROM THIS GAME: (E = Easy; H = Hard) A. Assembly puzzle. Place boards into position to create a set of stairs with no gaps between the boards. Correctly placed, boards stay level. B. E/H. Maze puzzle. Ride a horse. Ride a horse while avoiding obstacles in your path. Hard version has more obstacles blocking your path C. E/H. Switch puzzle. On six circles, each with 4 flowers, rotate them so that flowers which are next to each other are the same. In the hard version, you must not only rotate the circles to match up the flower but you must switch the circles as well to get it to work properly. D. E/H. Position gems on bracelets so they match up to a given image. Gems can move up-and-down on the bracelets using arrows. You can also switch gems within the same row. The easy version has 3 bracelets and the hard version has 4. BONUS CHAPTER: E. Map puzzle. Find a way out of a forest avoiding obstacles in your path. Pick up items along the way to help maneuver through the forest. F. E/H. Connection puzzle. Use the rays of a lantern to scare away cave creatures. All pairs of eyes must be hit by the rays. The hard version has more eyes to connect to the rays of light G. E/H. Sequence puzzle. Click on 4 lions in the proper sequence following a given guide. The hard version has a more complex sequence to follow. H. E/H. Climb up a cliff to get to the top choosing the correct objects. If you choose wrong stone or stump, you restart. The hard version has more choices to ponder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Royal Legends: Marshes Curse Collector's Edition I enjoy playing games through this developer and I enjoy playing games based on fantasy. I enjoy playing these games because there is a matching function rather than using the hint to find objects. I prefer to play hidden object games this way

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, Challenging Game. Story line is intriguing. The graphics are very good, good detail. The music is orchestrated, mellow, boring to me. The play is good and it's possible to solve all hops and puzzles except 2, in which 1 is an arcade and the other is if you get it wrong you fall to the beginning. There are 3 easter eggs to find- coins, witches belongings and amulets. In the extras you can buy stuff for the witch's garden. There is a good jump map interface for navigating around, it shows actions needed and easter eggs that need discovering. A popout panel on the left show you what items need to be found. Good customizations with a strategy guide.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beware The Swamp Witch! She's Seeking Retribution! People are disappearing, Liberville is in a state of bewilderment and fear. It seems the Swamp Witch has returned. I did find the storyline a bit more interesting than the last few. I wish the second witch wasn't just kept to the Bonus Chapter, for those of us who may not choose to purchase the CE. I don't know how effective I would be as the King's advisor, trying to find the witch and the missing villagers, and getting life back to normal. The demo didn't give me much opportunity to use my wits and skills to be of much help. I was too busy with tasks and puzzles, and that slowed my progress which is usually the case in Domini games. However, I did stave off the boredom for longer this time even with the too-many tasks. I just didn't get far enough into the game to see a good sampling of the action. I thought the HOPs were better this time, a better challenge, a couple of styles were unfamiliar to me. I also thought the puzzles were pretty good, but there wasn't much difference between the Easy and Hard Mode. I always try them both. And I especially liked that if I purchase the game I won't be faced with an over-abundance of them, as I'm not a huge puzzle fan. The map showed up early in the village square, not elaborate but it got me to my destinations quickly. The graphics are excellent, good colors, scenes not saturated in the greens, purples, blues that I do not like. The characters are nicely depicted with good facial features, colorful attire, the voices were closer to "normal" this time except for the squeaky one of the girl at the beginning of the demo. The tasks started off with one that always irritates me - I knew before I even clicked on the coach's key, that it would break! I wish Domini would put on their thinking caps and create something new and non-tedious. We get the same old predictable and mundane stuff in every game. In the demo I briefly saw the witch, she left in an instant. A cursed forest creature attacked Duncan but he was easily rescued with a spell book. That was the only creature and only use of a gadget (?) in the demo. The number of collectibles, of course, are the same and today we're using Witch's Coins to obtain items for a Witch's Garden. And let's not forget all those notes! If there's anything spine-tingling, as stated in the synopsis, none was evident in the demo. I completed the 90 minutes and can say it went better than the last couple of games. Still, I became impatient, wanting to play more game and less puzzles, and deal with fewer tasks. I think the game will appeal to most, age should not be an issue, and the 4 play modes ensure that any skill level can enjoy the adventure. The challenge never seems to damper the fun in the higher levels of difficulty, it just takes longer to get things done without sparkles, etc. If I decide to purchase, it will be the SE version because the CE, in my opinion, is too pricey for what it offers. It would be so great if Domini would at least do something different with the collectibles in each game and make them more challenging. Give it a try, it might be very enjoyable for you. I never pass up a demo, plenty of time to help with deciding to purchase or not. Each of us will differ in our opinions of good entertainment.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not My Cup of Brew Graphics as usual are well done by the developers, Domini, including the voiceovers. The three items to find in each scene are fairly easy especially with the sparkling on the side to let you know there is one, so no brainer there. Puzzles were well done. Storyline wasn’t bad. Like the little extras for example in the first scene if you touch the hens in the cage they come running out. Many items in each scene like this. Just adds to the fun… but… With 14 minutes of the 90-minute demo left I was already bored. As someone else mentioned the broken key and then there’s the broken bellows (again!!), broken well handle, barrette and hairpin both needed for different locks, need the boards with nails and a ‘heavy object’, need to saddle a house, etc. etc. etc. When it got to the broken ladder I was done. Just one tedious task after another. I have seen it over and over by this developer. Just not a buy for me, the pros did not out weigh the cons. Try it for yourself it might be your cup of brew.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Love, Hate relationship Game is ok and the look and sound are good but sometimes there is no direction for the mini games. Also the English language is poorly done and sometimes questionable.
