Customer Reviews
Shopping Clutter 14: Winter Garden is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Perfect Balance Returns After several of what I consider "bombs" in this game series, I believe the balance of fun and gentle challenge has been restored. Although several of the series' installments were good, along the way they took a left turn for other installments. I personally love #9, the one about the wedding; not for the story line (cute, but aimed at children, not adults) but more for the solid blend of items (not too much alike that it made the search frustrating beyond endurance yet similar enough to sometimes catch me off guard), the music interspersed with ambient street sounds and ocean/water sounds, the mini-games (my favorite are the memory matches), and the fact that the items sizes are perfect...not like some of the other installments where the sizes were so big it was laughable, like something for very young children. Still loving the "skip" button that allows me to bypass the sections with which I have more trouble than I want to deal, especially when the pieces are broken up and you have to put them together...it tests my patience and more often than not, I move on without completing them. I do understand that for others it is fun, so just keep putting in that skip button! All in all, I am very satisfied with this installment. The developer once more hit the "sweet spot." Thank God, too, because I was wearing out installment #9, playing it over and over because several of the others just weren't that good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Shopping Clutter 14: Winter Garden (released 4-5-22) Based on the completed demo only I liked: - The sound effects. - Overall just a really fun matching game to play. Didn't like: - The Christmas music playing in April. It felt like the music in this game may have been copy/pasted from a Christmas Shopping Clutter. Some of the later songs were really good though. - The first MG that requires you to swap & flip tiles to create an image. In general I don’t like those. - The "edible items" level requires you to find food items but I was frustrated that the following items weren't classified as edible: artichokes, mushrooms, red berries, and jarred preserves/syrup...however...a sprig of white berries (with leaves) *was* considered food (for who? lol) I'm really compulsive with those yellow hint stars. I rapidly click every one of them from the board like a madwoman before I can even start matching items and the moment one gets uncovered I'm on that sucker too. Ha-ha I really do love this series. Fun game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun I love this series - some have been a bit of a let down but generally they are a good little time passer. I do wish they would change the mini puzzles, I never play them as they don't appeal to me. I don't read the story, I never do in any game. I am so fed up of the numerous HO games that are churned out and the mosaic puzzles - Shopping Clutter are fun and relaxing and I hope to buy every single one as they come out!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not for me Thought I would give this new game a chance. I've tried some of the previous versions and didn't care for them. Now I remember why. I was all in until the level where they asked for edible items. Apparently we have different views of what is edible when artichokes and fish were disallowed. I decided then that if the required items on a level were that ambiguous I was not interested. Make your own decision.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from New name, same old game You would think the devs could come up with some new music and new mini games. Fourteen games of basically the same music and the same slider & memory games is enough already. And wasting time to click on tons of yellow suns only to gain one or two hints is ridiculous. If you have never played one of these Shopping Clutter games before, I actually recommend you try one of them. Any one of them because they all have the same premise. It was a cute series when it first premiered, but now it's just monotonous. Why do developers have to run a good thing into the ground instead of coming up with something new?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I Do Really Try To Like The Walkers but I'm just not succeeding! I thought at least helping Auntie Sheep decorate a greenhouse might be kind of fun. But nope! The greenhouse is waiting to be filled with various plants and items I earned but the task wasn't enjoyable at all. I can't imagine hanging in there for 140 levels without being bored to death! There are lots of levels and 20 puzzles. The 2 play modes are Easy and Difficult. With the timed difficult mode you receive extra points for not using a hint and for time remaining. Your achievement is posted on a scoreboard with other players who are animals. I don't see the point and think it is stupid! I collected all that is required, yet I continued to get a low score, not that it really matters I guess. There is too much useless dialogue but it can be skipped. The music contained one of my favorite piano tunes used in some of my mosaic games, so that was very pleasant. The graphics were as usual very clear and super colorful. This makes everything so easy to locate along with the items being pretty big. I played 12 levels in the demo and one tile jigsaw puzzle. Nothing was challenging about any of them. The only challenge I met was to finish enough levels upon which to base my opinion of the game. It, like the other 13 clutter games, was boring and tedious. The same style of matching throughout, long lists and way too many sun emblems. There were up to 30 in each level, they weren't gigantic but definitely in my way and quickly became annoying. There is simply no need for so many, they do nothing to increase the fun and challenge is never affected. I believe Winter Garden, as all the Walker games, will be enjoyed by players of any age without threat of a frustrating challenge slowing the fun. Those who want to relax with a very simple game to just fill some idle time will like it. For me it is too monotonous, even in the timed mode. I can't recommend or not, but try the demo. It may be just what you're looking for in a cutter/puzzle game.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from IT'S CLUTTER ALRIGHT They couldn't bother to change the Christmas music? This is a clutter type of game but it doesn't even compare to the original Clutter series. There are several oversights as kerith90angel mentioned, I'll add that when removing objects in the "Flower" category there are several Cacti variations, including ones with blooms but nothing with a cactus counts? I also hate those Sun Hint icons, most of the challenge in the game comes from the fact that there are a gazillion suns that are literally the size of a golf ball so they clutter the board and cover everything you are supposed to be trying to find. You are left with no choice but to click to remove them just so you can see the clutter objects! I can understand having 5-10 on each level, but there are more sun icons than actual objects...at a bare minimum make them smaller (take notes from the real Clutter games if need be!) There are only two modes of difficulty, Easy Mode which has no time restraints, and a Difficult mode with a time limit that gives you 500 extra points for not using Hints, and 10 extra points for time remaining. There are 140 Clutter-type levels that can be replayed if you want to earn a better score and there are 20 Puzzles available as well. Most of the puzzles are simple square swap variations with complicated mechanics, such as swapping adjacent squares, and each time you swap a square the orientation changes. I hate these types of puzzles because they are frustrating and annoying and I'm pretty sure everyone wants to play games for relaxation so why not have mini-games that are simply jigsaw variations, spider solitaire. word search...better yet, add a Spot the Differences variation. There's a big difference between a challenging game and one that is challengingly frustrating. Come join in on the fun at my new forum The Woods.
