Customer Reviews
Mystery Solitaire: The Black Raven 2 is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I LOVE THESE GAMES I felt I needed to review since it's getting a lot of criticism. Like any game,it's either your cup of tea or it's not. I happen to like straightforward solitaire. I have always liked 8Floor games. They can sometimes be a bit easier, but I find that a lot are challenging enough, If you want more challenge, there's always the pro side, and there are other more challenging games for those who want them. These are good when I just want to relax. As for sound,I can't speak to that,as I don't use it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Favorite Solitaire Game I always look forward to new releases of this solitaire. It means more challenges, enjoyable music, and beautiful artwork. I love that it's always the same style of game: easy to learn and grows more difficult as you progress.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from COUNT WITH ME 1-2-3! ...WILL THE NEXT BLACK RAVEN BE #5 OR #4? Someone got off-track with this series because they released #1 followed by #3 and now #2 is finally available? If you are just looking for a game to pass away the time and it doesn't bother you to receive a perfect score once you remove all Special Gold Cards, even though several cards remain on the board, then the Mystery Solitaire series will be a perfect fit! We like what we like, but Fortunatus-ly those who do not enjoy this type of gameplay have a right to voice their opinion as well, otherwise, why would Big Fish provide a Star rating system beginning with 1 star? For the record, I used to enjoy most of the games provided by this publisher, in fact, my favorite Puzzle was the Earth Chronicles series and I frequently gave them 5-stars! It wasn't until they started to slack on the quality that I lowered my star ratings, not vice-versa. The quality of their jigsaws declined and the majority of the pictures offered became staged stock images. They began to cut corners on their solitaire games as well, they changed the title, and occasionally the graphics, but they literally began recycling the level layouts on every new game. In what market would this practice be considered okay? In what market is it okay to attack those who have an opinion that differs from their own? You can choose from 9 Raven-themed card backs, and 3 different face cards, one of which is a large font. You begin the game in Newbie mode, which allows you to replay any hand, Professional mode only allows you to replay the entire pack of 10 levels. There are 12 different Packs or Rooms, and each pack has 10 levels, you'll need to earn the specified amount of points to unlock the next pack, and the scoring is similar to that of bowling. After completing the first level, it always tricks you into believing that you'll be able to remove all cards from the board when in reality the game ends when you remove the final Gold Card. When I played the second level. I literally removed all 3 Gold Cards in a single chain from the first deck card offered. I thought the game was glitching because it ended within seconds! When I got to level 7, I spent the rest of the demo time replaying this level and was lucky to remove a single gold card attempt after attempt with just 21 deck cards. I'm curious to find out if anyone else experienced this scenario, or if it was just luck of the draw? If others experience this scenario, you have to wonder if it's a marketing strategy to get people to purchase the game just to beat this level? Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not again.... I like a nice calming game of solitaire as much as the next person, However, they are all the same just different back stories. I do not know why you would spend money on these when you have one or two?? I never read reviews before I give the game a try, and thought I was being harsh in my opinions until I read the reviews, There are so many forms of solitaire games, why not do something new and uniqued and develop a game after one of those other games?? Just a thought!!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Dull AND Annoying It's frustrating, too. Even with one negative review already, I thought, "Oh, how bad can it be?" Very, very bad. 1. You HAVE to stay on Newbie mode; you can't choose Hard mode. 2. The visuals - what there are of them - are lovely, but the music and background noises are incredibly irritating. I like playing with the sound on. Not this time. 3. Play is really dull... and limiting. You get your little pots of money when you get them, you're urged to play for gold cards rather than finish the game. I just want to play solitaire. I never review things; that's how much I dislike this game. Give me "Far Kingdoms" any day. Seriously.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This Raven Should Just Fly Away Here we have another of the Mystery Solitaire series that is no different than all the other ones from this dev, which means it is the usual poor quality, meaningless story and gold card annoyance. There is nothing fun or challenging or different, just always the same and doesn't warrant spending a penny nor a coupon on it, no matter how desperate I may be for a new game! Everything this dev puts out is really under par, they are never open to any suggestions or requests from the reviewers. As Pennmom stated, "We like what we like" and it's not right to attack our opinions. In the very beginning they produced some very good jigsaw games and I still enjoy them. But then everything just went downhill and stayed there. It has been years now and nothing ever improves. I love solitaire and there are some really great ones at BFG, so Mystery Solitaire can be passed up with no regrets. However, if you like picking up every solitaire to build your collection, it will suffice. If you enjoy letting the game clear the board for you with the gold cards, if you don't mind the "phantom" achievements and don't mind the Newbie and Pro Modes then this game will fine. It has lots of levels, the graphics and card artwork are okay. Usually there are no tech issues. I always play the demo for these games hoping for a new, improved "something" but seems this dev is bound and determined to not budge an inch because it's easier to be lazy and ignore the issues. After all, they still make $$ on even poor quality games. What a shame!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from If only ------ I sort of liked the first in this series. This is just the same. I do not like a game that finishes itself. I like to play through the board. There is no option to do that. The game does get more difficult and the game play involves more strategy but IF ONLY the game allowed one to finish the whole board and not stop once the last gold card was collected.
