Living Legends Remastered: Wrath of the Beast Collector's Edition is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 23.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Glory That Was It took a remaster to do it, but at last we have a game that recaptures some of the genre's former glory. The traditional story of Goldilocks is continued into something much more interesting than the fairy tale, involving a romance, multiple betrayals, murder, and a changeling son struggling to find out who he really is. In lesser hands that plot could have been ridiculous, but these aren't lesser hands and this one is really good. Pros: Excellent voice acting, familiar and rather beautiful music, colorful scenery. Plenty of HO scenes, mostly of the silhouette variety with a few more complicated variations thrown in just to keep things interesting. Mini-games are fairly easy with some good ones loaded toward the end of the main game, and one can tell where the remaster kicked in in the graphics, which are quite up to the current state of the art. Clear writing keeps what turns out to be a rather complicated plot involving multiple well-developed characters perfectly accessible. Excellent length of play, a thing that didn't used to be as noteworthy as it's become. Cons: It's a remaster, so the question is, has enough been added to the original to justify a full price for the new edition? I would tentatively answer yes, but everyone may not agree with that because the original was pretty darn good by itself. That isn't a knock on this specific game so much as on the general idea of remastering classics. Bonus Game: Our hero now has a beautiful wife and daughter, the latter of whom decides to play a dangerous game with the Alchemist. We are off to rescue the girl! Great game length - heck, it's as good as some main games we get these days - and some great mini-games. Spectacular scenery. Overall, the game is good enough to evoke an almost melancholy feeling that games used to be this good, so what happened? Can new developers, writers, graphic artists recapture the old magic? If they decide to try, this game might be an excellent template of what went right in the beginning. It's the writing, it's the voice acting, the music, the ambience covering a set of challenges that at least try to seem original. This game could have been warmed-over leftovers like too much of the recent offerings, and it isn't. It's wonderful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fun Game This game was so much fun I had to go through it twice. The story line kept me involved. The games were mostly great but a few had me stumped. Music was nice. I just loved the adventure, and different trails to take.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best game to come along in ages! How refreshing it was to play this new, unique and challenging game. After being a BFG member for so many years, I was starting to lose hope until I purchased this game. It was a truly innovative and intriguing with new and different gameplay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh, You Little Fox! First, I'd just like to offer my condolences to pennmom- looks like you lost a four legged loved one. My sympathies and condolences, that's always tough. And by the way, great review; I have, on many occasions, used your reviews as a "barometer" as to whether or not I am going to purchase a HOPA game. Well, this time all I needed was to see "Friendly Fox" and it was a buy. I called them out a few years ago as the big developer to watch. That little fox pushed aside a big elephant, a scrappy little dog and another big developer that has kinda disappeared from the landscape-I'm sure with good reason. Nobody can take a turn on a fairytale or folktale like Friendly Fox. The players are intact but Friendly Fox makes the story their own, yet traditionally appropriate. And the graphics, which are huge for me...never a disappointment with this developer. Really outstanding scenes and artwork that immerses you completely into the story with wide eyes. I'm a puzzle lover and this game has me sated. I love the find 'ems. Who knew Goldilocks could be so tough? Thanks, Friendly Fox. You sit at the head of the table that seats the Big Three!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TAKE ME BACK TO YESTERDAY WHEN HOPA GAMES HAD BACKBONE! Completed Game approximately 5.0 hours (including completion of all mini-games & CE Bonus Chapter) 28 Scene Locations +12 CE Bonus Chapter Difficulty Range: Beginner-Intermediate Friendly Fox is the only developer to realize that HOPA fans can't "bear" playing the games offered lately. They have become repetitive and ridiculously easy, you can't tell the difference from one series to the next, that's how bad it has gotten lately! I'd rather replay an older game that has been remastered, than any game offered in any of the newer series...because this game has Backbone! The developers have done an amazing job with the Remaster, it takes me back to the days when almost every HOPA was a gem, it takes me back to a time when we used to look forward to new releases! Collectibles/Morphing Objects: (CE version only) There are 76 Opaque Sprites (2 per scene) which unlocks 5 Sprites in the Extra's Menu (5-14-30-55-76) There are 34 Morphing Runes and a pull-out tab on the left side to keep track of the collectibles available or found. Gadget/Helper: There is no helper but there is a gadgety Book that progresses the story via a Hidden Object Puzzle. Each chapter requires finding & placing an emblem to unlock the next series of HO & story progression. Hidden Object Scenes: There are 31 Hidden Object Scenes in the main game +8 in the CE Bonus Chapter, including the Book HO's and several smaller zoom zone HOs. Most of the HOs are Interactive List Finds, but they also have Progressive-Interactive Silhouetted Shape Finds, Find & Replace, and Interactive Silhouetted Shape Finds. Several; of the scenes are repeated but it is always with a different HO variation. Mini-Games: There are 31 Mini-Games +12 in the CE Bonus Chapter. Obviously, they are not new puzzles, but most of them are very enjoyable, many of which haven't been offered in quite some time! Bonus Chapter: (CE version only) Play as Goldilock's son trying to stop the alchemist in a prequel. The BC spans 12 additional scene locations with 12 mini-games and 10 Hidden Object Scenes. You will complete your Opaque Sprite Collection but there are no Morphing Objects (remaining :( Collector's Edition Version Extra's: 7 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Screensavers, 5 Music Soundtracks, 30 Movie Video Cutscenes, 29 Achievements, 15 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 18 Replayable Mini-Games, 76 Opaque Sprites that unlock 5 Sprites, 34 Morphing Objects, 4 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-In Strategy Guide. There's always something interesting going on at my new forum! If you miss chatting with fellow fishies from the Big Fish Forum days then grab a thermos full of coffee, throw on your favorite jeans & t-shirt, and lace up your hiking boots...ah who are we kidding...just keep your comfy fuzzy slippers on, and come chillax with us by the fire at thewoodsforum.boards.net

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Roar! Hello friends! We have another addition to this very long series. As always, I review mostly on the game play and not the story, as others do a better job of that than I. This game has excellent graphics. Colors are quite nice, and not over powering or bright. The animation is very well done, very realistic, with smooth movements. Game play was excellent, with no problems during the demo and the scene fit my large screen very well. Voice overs are nice and are age and character appropriate, with some emotion, fear, urgency and not just someone reading a script. We didn't have a lot, but what we had was well done. Didn't really notice a lot in the way of sound FX, but we did have some, mostly a musical sound when a quest was accomplished or item found. Music was the usual for this series. HOPs are nothing new and I didn't see that you could switch to something else. We have interactive HOPs, lists and silhouettes. Scenes are fairly clear and items are not difficult to spot. Puzzles were not difficult at all, but a couple did take a little time and thought to complete. The hint system is very helpful, but it did not transport you to longer locations during the demo. We do have the jump map and areas are clearly identified by name and picture. The map does show you that you may have missed a collectible. Collectibles are not bad. We have to find spirits, which are opaque and not as easy to spot as you think. There is more than one in each scene, so be on the lookout. You also collect morphing runes, which are also not easy to spot. This is the challenge in this game. I got so engrossed in this game, that I forgot to keep notes! The story line is not different, but it is interesting. The game was easy to follow and flowed quite well. As I said above, the real challenge is finding the collectibles. You are constantly on the move in this one, so you don't realize that the HOPs are few and far between, and you don't get bored. I think this will appeal to all levels of players. I like this one I will be adding it to my CE collection. Gave it a 4.75. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Play on!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Three Cheers For Friendly Fox!!! This remaster is extremely well done. Its quality is evident right away. I really enjoyed the original but this one exceeds it with lots of extra touches that make it a game you won't want to pass up. You can always count on Friendly Fox for something special! The graphics were gorgeous then but the quality has been bumped up in today's game, as well as the sound, and the music is not an irritating noise that requires turn-off. I can't recall all the details that made me love the first edition so much but I was pulled in right away with the story and the great extras, and again this dev is being very generous with the goodies! I was so delighted to find more HOPs this time and even though I'm not a great puzzle fan, seeing more of them was also great. With these extra games and all the collectibles and morphs, this is a spectacular CE package. It's been ages (except for Tearstone) that I have purchased a CE because they just aren't worth it anymore! The demo has a good sampling of what I needed to persuade my decision to purchase. Usually, I am not happy with the demo because of too many stupid tasks and not enough story but this time all was good. I'm now at the beginning of Chapter 3 and it is moving along famously with no disappointments. Imagine that! Enjoying a game with no let-downs for a change! The HOPs and puzzles are of good variety, the kind I like. Haven't skipped a puzzle yet, which is unusual for me! I love that the collectibles and morphs are not right in your face. They were a bit challenging due to being very well blended or just quite small. I welcomed the extra effort I had to put forth, it made the game even more fun. Nothing to complain about here, it's a lovely game! I hope you find it very entertaining, as well. We've been in need of quality games at BF for a terribly long time. Hopefully more will follow this gem from Friendly Fox!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best game is a long time The remastered version is worth it. A nice long game. It is a challenge to finish it in 6 hours which is an achievement. The HOGs are varied and play is very smooth. The mini games are good and a nice variety. Some new and some old favorites. This is by far the best game released in quite some time.
