Cadenza: Fame, Theft and Murder is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Clock's Ticking........ Mad Head games are light years ahead of most devs when it comes to originality in a storyline. The Cadenza series is a perfect example of their "out of the box thinking", although I don't think they have been able to top their first game's plot, Music, Betrayal, Death. When the Collector's Edition version of this game was first released, I bought it, sight unseen, because I was confidant that Mad Head would deliver another solid performance, and Fame, Theft and Murder came through with flying colors! The chapter immediately following the demo section, was a little bit slow and monotonous, but then the action picks back up and becomes more interesting. I usually enjoy the features offered within the CE versions, but for the price difference, this Standard Edition may be more appealing, so here's what you'll find in both editions, for comparison: Guitarist, Mike Valance has returned to his hometown to perform in a rock 'n roll concert that will go down in history! As soon as the curtains are drawn, Mike is attacked by an angry deranged man, who challenges him to a duel, of guitars that is. Mike accepts Adam's challenge, and the audience gets treated to a life changing jamming session performance! Quite literally, because Adam has put a voodoo curse upon Mike, who is now Adam, and Adam is now Mike! This supernatural body snatching scenario gets even more complicated for Mike, when he discovers that Adam is a wanted man, for murder! Mike's only saving grace, comes from an unlikely source, and he only has a mere 12 hours to reverse the curse, tic, tock, the clock's ticking! I like the storyline Cadenza has chosen with this game, but I'm not so impressed with the graphics In the first Cadenza game offered, the graphics were sharp, crisp and colorful, and the details just popped with impressiveness. The colors in this game, however, just don't pop. Think back with the original Cadenza that incorporated all the sights and sounds of New Orleans nightlife, which completely immersed you into the adventure, this game simply doesn't do that for you. In the Collector's Edition's version, there isn't much to offer, other than the staple extras of achievements, concept art and wallpapers, there are only two types of collectibles, each scene has a Hidden Vinyl Record, and eventually you will collect Characters with bios, so this Standard Edition is probably the better route. The Hidden Object Scenes aren't the same as the one's offered previously in the Cadenza series, but in the CE version, they still offer Morphing Objects in each HOP. Most are multi-layered with Interactive List finds, Replacing items back in the scene, and Silhouetted Shape finds. Some items have puzzle fragments behind the items you find and small puzzles to solve within. The Mini Games are decent, but tend to be on the easy breezy side, which offers little challenge. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Connect the dots to draw the shape Adam plays on the guitar, without passing the same line twice, with three different shapes total. 2) Rearrange the tiles to complete the symbol. 3) Rearrange the fins on the rocket to match the colors shown. 4) Rearrange the items so that they match the timeline written on the list. 5) Select the interactions of the strings to complete the code according to the clue shown. 6) Slide the gems and move the metal combs so the matching pair of stones are aligned vertically. 7) Place the strings in the correct order according to the music Sheet. The Collector's Edition has 9 Achievements to earn, 26 Wallpapers, 16 Concept Art pictures, 13 Music Soundtracks, Character Bios, 38 Hidden Vinyl Record Albums, 34 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, a Record Hunt game, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good Not Great Game This is posted after playing the entire game. I have the complete Cadenza series, and to compare it to the others, this one is way below the standards set in the previous efforts. It was fun, but not like the others. Graphics were well done and the music was okay. A lot of repeat sound tracks and you would think with a theme such as this there would have been a multitude of possibilities to play. It wasn't intrusive by any means, but just repetitious. I was expecting more and got less which led to my disappointment. Voice overs were well done and the effects, what there were of them, were also well done. The colors were bright and pleasant. My only complaint in this area was the reading. Things would come up to be read and there just wasn't enough time to read it before the words were gone. Missed a lot of those, and along with it part of the story. I had problems with the mini games, which is no surprise. I don't like them, but these were over the top for me. A lot of repetition doing the same thing over and over again, with a little change in what you had to do. They did a great job hiding things in the hidden object scenes. So much so, that when I used the hint, I still couldn't see what I had gotten. Hidden objects were varied and that kept my interest. In some there was a list and after finding that list another would appear, then an interactive part where you had to put something into the scene. I sat at the first one trying to find the object listed only to find I had to put that lipstick cap on the open lipstick. My stupidity, but when I figured it out the process was simple. The story is pretty easy to follow. You don't find out until the very end what caused all of this drama and how someone could steal another's body. It's well written and has a few surprises along the way. Others will go in depth about the story so I won't bore you with it here. I have been waiting what seemed like an eternity for this to come out in SE. I don't do CE versions, and I have to say, had I not played the others in the series I would probably have been happier with this one. If you have played the others, then you're probably going to be very disappointed. If you haven't you'll enjoy this one much more. Just go into this as though it was a completely new series and not related to the others and you'll get along just fine. It's not a bad game... it's just very different in quality and content than the others.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Kind of a Letdown... I have loved the Cadenza series! But this one was a bit on the cheesy side. The creators really had to reach deep to find the story line for this game- too deep, in fact. We're all used to 'magic' experiments, mind altering conditions, etc. in games like theses, but this one relies on a single item: a guitar pick that allows a person to change bodies with another. Really?! That's the best they could do? The hidden object scenes were pretty much the same all the way through; though there were a few that posed a challenge. Most were just clutters of junk you had to sort through & hope you ran onto what they were asking. I found most of the mini-games to be simplistic, some were just downright frustrating because they took so long, so I just skipped them. This game was really a let-down. It certainly doesn't live up to the others in this series. I don't know if there will be another game in this series, but if there is, skip over this one & buy the newer one. Hopefully they will have put more insight & imagination into the new one. I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS GAME!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sad Farewell to Another Series Tanked by a Bad Entry Adam can change bodies with you if he can get your favorite object. As an up and coming rock star with a lucky guitar pick, you will furnish an escape as his current body is wanted for murder! The premise showed promise till it was killed shortly into the demo when the body swap occurred BEFORE Adam got your guitar pick! Good stuff: Usual game elements set in a mangled story. Bad stuff: All of the magic and music you expect in a Cadenza series game has been lost in the rush to market. The story is a cascade of bits and pieces that don't add up, with enough logic lapses to make you weep. PLEASE try the demo before you decide on this game.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful isn't the word! Whoever gave this such high reviews certainly fooled me! I either play these games far too quickly or they really are as short as they feel. If you wish to throw your money away, send it to me as it will do you just as much as this game will. How do developers get away with churning out this level of rubbish? If you buy this game after reading this review, you only have yourself to blame.
