Customer Reviews
Rory's Restaurant Origins is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rory's This is one of my favorite PC games! It is the kind of game that you can never get bored with because it is not just one game but many games in one. I love it that the player has a choice on the timer on the game...I, myself, like the relax mode as it gives me time to get all the goals done. This game has bright colors making it easy to find objects or to play the other games but it is not too easy so as keeping the player focused. This game is a MUST BUY for Gamers who like all kinds of different games.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Surprising game I didn't like this game at first, but after I got in it I rather liked the game. At first I couldn't find anything. I was getting frustrated. But like I said further on into the game I really liked it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from could be really fun the graphics are great. but the story line needs to have an option of being switched off. it is most annoying while playing the game to me. i prefer to skip through it and play the games. the segments are fun, however, some of the items can be challenging to find, which is a good thing in my opinion. it this game would be adjusted to remove the lengthy tutorial and the comments, it would be fine fast paced game!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mix It Up I'm giving this a solid 3 stars. I played about 35 minutes of the demo and then lost interest. The story is presented in a cheery voice over the chirpy music. The music sounds exactly like the chirpy music you've heard a hundred times before. It's meant to be jaunty and fun, but it's really neither after the first few minutes. There are a lot of dialog boxes to click through. If you take the time to read them all, it's a fairly good tutorial of how to play the game. Thumbs up on that score. If this is a Match 3 game, those types of scenes appear well into the game. For the first levels you're doing a combination of Hidden Object and Time Management. You must complete orders within the allotted time by picking ingredients out of a HO scene. The HO scene changes somewhat or quite a bit from level to level. The time given to complete your dishes is rather short, so you must be quick both in finding the ingredient in the disorganized kitchen and then clicking on it to add it to the dish. I didn't find this particularly fun, even on Casual the cheery voice kept admonishing me that I was running out of time. So even without a time consideration, you are constantly reminded to go faster. Not exactly the relaxing time the Tips tell you to enjoy. If I enjoyed a mix of HO scene and frantic Time Management, I might enjoy this, but I just found too many things I didn't like (music, voice, warnings) to bother getting into it. You might enjoy this, but I didn't find it worth it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not a Match 3! This is one of your 'build a burger/cake/pizza/satisfy paying customers quickly' type games but the ingredients are found in hidden object scenes. The timed version is extremely challenging but you become a lot faster at finding those ingredients the longer you play. Since I was looking for a good match 3 game to play, I was sorely disappointed. In the one hour demo, I encountered only one M3 board so I can't recommend this game as described (M3). If you like those making food/serving customers type games, this one should interest you and even more so if you also enjoy playing hidden object games.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS GAME IS ANNOYING I'm still in disbelief that a third game was released in this horrible series! The graphics are large and void of detail, Rory's constant nagging is annoying, the music is repetitive, there is way too many dialog boxes to have to endure between each boring level, and the game is horribly boring. My first suggestion to Rory as an upcoming chef, would be to clean up the mess, there's no way I would eat at that restaurant! You can play in Relaxed mode with no timer, Casual which allows you to click on the ingredient to "see" a visual of the item, or Challenging. There are 3 different types of games, Hidden Object, Time Management, and Match 3. In the Hidden Object type, you "serve" customers by first clicking on their order. One ingredient word at a time appears for each customer, the number of customers is shown as goals. You search the area for all of the ingredients, before the timer runs out (unless playing in Casual mode) The faster you server the customer, the more money they will pay as indicated by their hearts. The items are always in the same place, and reappear seconds after finding them, which leaves very little challenge when you revisit that scene several times. Some of the ingredients are very similar, leaving you to guess at whether an item is lettuce, parsley, or basil., but at least you can zoom in using the mouse scroll feature. Once all of the ingredients have been found, you are instructed to click on the icon to match the description such as frying, chopping, boiling or blending, and wrapping up the order by clicking on the money they leave. The Time Management type requires you to make cupcakes for an example. First you choose the type of cupcake the customer wants (color coded) and then you choose the frosting and toppings until the cupcake matches the customer's thought bubble. The final step is to collect their money, and again, the faster you serve them, the more they pay. Some ingredients require you to restock them, others seem to be limitless. In the Match 3 type, you make specific numbered matches of each ingredient for each of the customers that show up on the left side of the board, and collect their money when finished. With the money earned, you can purchase items to decorate Rory's Restaurant and eventually turn her dream into reality. I found it kind of senseless when the very first item I purchase is a Clock? There are several different styles of each item, which are increasingly more expensive, but you can upgrade the items once you have enough money. As you progress you will Level Up which gives you a really cool Badge? (their words, not mine) There are 9 Trophies to earn, and 12 recipes to collect in each category of Western, Eastern and World dishes. Personally, I haven't been impressed with any of the games in this series, but in case you're interested, here's the games available on BF.
