Witches' Legacy: Covered by the Night is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Spiral Down I did enjoy it but as others stated this series has taken a turn for the worse. It was kind of lame. and what is that demented look on Bertha's face??? Crept me out the whole game.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not Bad But Not The Best Based on finishing the game. It's not a bad game. It's one that is fairly easy and good for relaxing. Only, it has a Load screen for just about every scene you go to or open, which can be very tedious. I hate waiting for scenes to load especially when they take 10 or more seconds to load. I would think a 2017 game would not have that. I expect that for old games, not newer ones. If it wasn't for that, I would have given another star. I recommend this game for those who have patience. If not, forget about it. I normally wouldn't buy a game with wait times between scenes, but it was a Daily Deal. I sure wouldn't have paid full price for a game like this. The waiting is a no buy for me unless it's at a great price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No amount of magic can make this worthwhile! After playing the CE demo I wrote a review, and now having played the SE demo I find that my opinion hasn't changed. Here's what I wrote then, and which is equally valid now. This game is annoying on so many levels that I’m hard-pressed to find a place to start. Okay, let’s start with the graphics —pastel colors so soft as to make every scene washed-out, indistinct. Next, the music, background sounds, and voice-over narratives —the music is the best of this bad lot, although it is draggy and, by being so, slows down the game play. The background sounds are quirky, to say about them the nicest thing that I can think of. As to the voice-over narratives, well, it would be better if everyone just kept their mouths shut. The word that comes to mind is campy. In nearly every one of the hundreds of games that I have, when you move from one location to another you just go there in a smooth transition. In this game, every location change gets a pop-up ‘loading’ notice, even within the same room or site. I’m not even going to talk about the morphing ferret-girl. The story? Well, let’s just say it’s more of the same old stuff —evil magician wants to take over/destroy the world, and you, of course, are the only one who can stop him. Even though, as I’ve often said, there are a finite number of plots that work with these types of games, many developers try to give it enough of a twist so as to make it at least a little different. The developer of this game did not make any effort to do so. The blurb for the CE said that this was an editors choice game —Big Fish needs to get some new editors! Don’t waste your download limit, or your money on this game.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Do I hear the word retire? Hi friends! I've lost count on this series, but this is one of many. As always, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to others, but I must say, this story is old and boring. Again, this game has those awful blue and purple hues that are very tiring on the eyes. How hard is it to clean up some color? Graphics are pretty nice, game play was good. Voices were a little better than the last one in this series, but not by much. Sound FX okay. At least the ferret didn't grunt with every move this time. Music was okay but monotonous. HOPs are nothing new and items were not difficult to find. At least they were somewhat varied. You could switch to a match 3 if you get bored with the HOPs. Puzzles were the same as any other game and too no time or brain power to complete. Nothing challenging here. The hint system was helpful. There was no transport feature in this game, which would have helped, since you do a lot of back tracking to the same few locations for quite some time. I got bored looking at the same scenery. When a game or series becomes boring, and you can't really think of anything positive to say about it, it's time to retire it, or at least upgrade it. I did manage to make it completely through the demo, but it was not easy to do. There will be those who like this game and don't mind the colors, but they are very tiring on my eyes. I found this game to be geared more toward a true beginner and not someone who has been playing HOPs for any length of time. For that reason only, I will recommend it for a beginner. The last few in this series have been like this, so they did not get added to my collection. The game moved very slowly and had absolutely no challenge and nothing made me want to buy it. Nope, no buy for me on this one either. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the reviews.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from An Almost Average SE From An Over-the-Hill Series! Jack is back with Annabel and Bertha on another quest to stop evil. This time it is an evil Wizard trapped in a sphere who has only one night to get out. Jack will have to stop him to save Annabel, Bertha, and the students from the witch university. Despite his scientific bent, Jack will be forced to use various magical devices to catch the wizard and stop him. Tough luck, Jack. Good stuff: HOPs with a matching game alternative, and various mini games. Bad stuff: Color saturated artwork; Bertha, the ferret; and a single blood moon picture between every scene, puzzle, and HOP, not to mention the same old plot from previous games in the series. Once again there is the logic problem - the evil wizard is trapped in a sphere and yet able to run around the Witch University and alternate reality to try to free himself. Who's idea of a prison was this? Poor Jack has saved the world from various evil beings one too many times and needs to settle down with Bertha and raise his own family - hopefully the kids will be human and not ferrets. Please try the Demo for yourself.
