Myths of the World: Love Beyond Collector's Edition is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really enjoyed this game I played the easy version just for fun and really enjoyed the game. The story line was good and enjoyed going around the sites. Lovely graphics so was a nice change from the "darker" games. Had such a hard time leaving the game, I almost played in one go. Will play again. This is a game worth buying. I rarely review games but had to with this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Which Witches Switched? Just completed the full game. Another great myth, this time one from Germany. Even if Lorelei is not sitting on a rock, humming tunes, combing her hair and confusing boatsmen. I looked the figure up, found pictures of the surroundings, very well adapted. The sceneries were outstandingly beautiful! It was so peaceful up on the cliff, watching the Rhine flow by, waiting for a boat to pass. I had to tear myself away, after all I had a husband to save. I’m glad I played on, as there was much more to discover: Skulls used as flower pots, crossing the river on a ferry, skeletons hanging from the ceiling, a witch with very human needs, breaking into a Throne Room, to name a few scenes and moments I thought were just brilliant. I’m a huge fan of HO’s, in this respect the game was a real treat. There were fantastic details as a corn cob when I had to look for a feather. So well done! The „Find 5“ opening of the HO in the city was entertaining, it’s always good to see what ideas come up. The mini-games were pretty good, well laid out and doable, not frustrating. I even enjoyed some I usually don’t really like, as the Simon Says on the fountain in the city. Having morphs in scenes instead of HO’s was a nice surprise, it was very well indicated whether there is a morph in the scene and when you found it, the difference was well visible. If you miss one, you can go back and look out for them after completing the game. Boring? Slow? Mileage may vary for every gamer. For me the game was fast and compelling! But: the music was far too idyllic and too relaxing. I switched it off and played tunes from „Of Fiends and Fairies“. I prefer motivating and inspiring music. The main game completes the story. In the Bonus Game we meet a new character on a different mission. I really enjoyed this offering of Myths of the World and am looking forward to the next one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Love Story that went Wrong As much as I love Myths of the World series, I have to say, this game was a bit disappointing to me., I found the story line very weak, The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because I loved the beginning, it showed promise, Then after leaving the library the story or game just went downhill. My overall reaction to this game is the developers did not really give you a full explanation of why Lorelei turned evil, all we know is she was in love, a forbidden love. And the goal to the game/story is go through obstacles to rescue the husband As usual there are hidden signs and morphing objects to collect

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Been there, done that....but.... I am not a fan of the Myths of the World series. To me almost all of them do not meet the level of hype they receive. However, I kinda liked this game. Yes, there are glaring errors in logic. For instance....how did Margrit the witch meet you in the catacombs when only Lorelei's blood will open the door? Margrit did not have a vial of Lorelei's blood but you do in a locket, Or did I miss a plot twist there? Lorelei is a Dr. Jekyl, Miss Hyde. Some dark force makes her do things she doesn't want to do. Fortunately for her, you can help with that in the end. In the bonus game you are a general who must rally your 18 men to defeat the dark forces. But, because you brought in a witch to help, you are thrown into the paddy wagon. Escaping from there was easy, And, just in time to save the kingdom. In places, the graphics reminded of the old Island of Myst game which I liked very much. I don't listen to music so I can't comment on that. The puzzles and mini games were fun to me because they didn't tax my old brain and leave me frustrated. Some of the instructions for playing them were a little unclear to me and I had to refer to the SG. There is nothing different in the HOs that we haven't already had ad nauseum. I thought the voice acting was well done except for the soldier at the door of the castle. He sounded like a robot. The game was satisfying in length and I was glad to see the morphing objects within the scenes rather than the HOs. After completing the main story and the bonus, you can enter the souvenir room. You can replay the HOs and mini games and check out the usual CE additions. So, I am one of the few who will recommend this game. But, as always, take it for a spin yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Slow, but not bad... Hello friends! As usual, I review mostly on game play and leave the story line to others. However, I do reserve the right to comment on the story as well, now and then. Is this really #14 in this series? The graphics are somewhat blurry in all scenes, but worse in close ups, and sometimes made it difficult to look at the screen. If they'd clean them up a bit, they would be awesome. This series started out with great graphics, need to get back to basics. Game play was very good and I had no problems during the demo. Colors were actually fairly nice and true. Voices were not bad, when we had them. There was very little interaction with any of the characters in the game, which made it seem like more of a walk through than a real story. Makes the story slow and boring. Very little action at all. Hardly any sound FX, which makes a game more realistic and interesting. Music was okay. Yes, we have another lens to find symbols hidden by magic. This has been so over done, slows a game down and is boring. HOPs were somewhat varied, with lists, silhouettes and highlighted words. Nice combination and fairly well done. They were clean and items were not difficult to find. We could switch to a match three (rocks) if we wished, but I found the HOPs to be more fun. The puzzles were mostly easy, but I did run across a couple that made me stop and think, and took some time to complete. Hint system is quite helpful and there is a transport feature for longer locations. This is a good thing, as we do a tremendous amount of back tracking in this one. The transport is also much better than using the bland map. SG is the usual and standard version. Collectibles are few, 34 signs in the shape of a heart. These are not as easy to spot as you may think, as they have them blended well into background colors and some are a little small. We also have 17 morphing object, which are not as easy to spot either. Even though we don't have a lot of collectibles, we do have challenge in spotting them, so be on the lookout. Of course, you can also find their locations by looking in the Strategy Guide. The story line in this was was sort of choppy and hard to follow. It just didn't seem to flow well, more like a walk through than story. To be honest, I have already forgotten what the story line was...not a good sign. I found that we had a number of items in our inventory that needed another or other parts found before they could be used, and they added up to a lot of inventory before anything was used. Not a deal breaker, but made for a jumbled mess and made it easy to forget what you were doing and why. Too much running around before you got to use anything. The only challenge was in finding the collectibles. All that said, it really wasn't a bad game, just needed a little more detail from the developer. I am sure there will be those who find this one fun and a bit challenging. This is a nice game for a rainy day, nothing better to do day. I have a number of those games. If a really good sale comes along, I will probably get this one as a CE, only because of the collectibles. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the reviews.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from HOW FAR WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO GO FOR THE ONES YOU LOVE? It's a beautiful day for a romantic rendezvous with your husband Theodore, that is, until a beautiful, much younger, blonde woman swoops in to woo your man, that witch! No seriously, she's a witch, and she's got some serious issues going on. Turns out, this isn't going to be the perfect place to settle down after retirement, well, it could be, but you'll just have to do it solo, cause apparently everyone in town, knows about this home-wrecking witch but you of course, and everyone knows that once she steals your man, he ain't never coming home. I say it's probably for the best, but the show must go on! I had a really hard time connecting to the story line on this game, or perhaps I should say lack thereof? I felt like I had to connect a lot of dots and fill in the gaps, especially during the Blonde/Theodore incident, but maybe it was just me. The graphics are decent, but they usually are by this dev. I must admit, I about fell out of my computer chair when I discovered that this Collector's Edition version had Morphing Objects, and they are in the scenes themselves, NOT the HOP's whoo hoo! Once I up righted myself, however, I was zapped back to reality when I discovered that the Eipix staple Hidden Signs had not been altered, baby steps right? The Hidden Object Scenes are varied, but predictable, with Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds and those famous HOP's where you find 2 sets of multiple items that gives you a tool to use once found, and that tool opens up the remaining object list. You can play a Skipping Stones alternative game instead of the HOP if you're not into the HOP's. The Mini Games are way too basic, and quite simply are boring, with the exception of the Frog puzzle. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Arrange the wooden boards to cover all gaps, you must use all boards. 2) Click on two clouds at a time to make matches of two identical symbols. 3) Climb up to the window using directional arrows to avoid obstacles (the grunts and groans drove me nutz) 4) Click on 5 semi hidden berries to move the foliage (that's a toughie!) 5) Drag the tokens from the water onto the orange spots, by planning the frog's path so it reaches the lotus flower and avoids snakes. This Collector's Edition has 8 Wallpapers, 6 Concept Art pictures, 7 Movie Videos, 9 Music Soundtracks, re-playable Skipping Stones games, 25 re-playable Mini Games, 13 re-playable Hidden Object Scenes, a Souvenir Room, 13 Achievements to earn, 34 Hidden Signs (Blue Hearts) 17 Morphing Objects, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter. Rated 3 out of 5 by from “BEWITCHED, BOTHERED, AND BEWILDERED” IN THE RHINE RIVER OVERVIEW: Can a witch and a human find happiness? The dueling families in this Romeo and Juliet themed game obviously have not seen the “Bewitched” reruns. The families of a human and those of a witch forbade the interspecies marriage of their lovesick offspring. Now, the vengeful, ghostly young witch of the duo is haunting an island in the Rhine River. Based on the German myth, “Die Loreley,” you play the wife of a retired couple hoping to find some happiness in your golden years on this island. However, this restless witch is not about to allow you two old lovebirds have any peace. When this young ghostly witch kidnaps your husband, you are off to save him. Climbing up cliffs, ascending castle walls and hiking around this island, you will learn more about the history of this island. Perhaps you hold the key to help this witch and save your husband and the town as well. You may also win a physical fitness medal. You go granny! MECHANICS: We are off to Germany this week with EIPIX. EIPIX again waltzes us around Europe with a loosely based adaptation of a German myth. The graphics are hand-drawn and reflect the beauty of the Rhine River valley. For me, the graphics are amazingly beautiful and better than I have seen in many of this developer’s games. The pace is good with our tormented, angry ghost brewing up a storm of trouble for the in habitants of the island. At times, the pace does slow down a trifle– I believe due to both the lackluster HOP scenes and the back-and-forth action of looking for inventory items. It is a decent, but not a stellar game. It is standard EIPIX fare. However, I do feel it is much better than many games they have produced lately. You can replay thirteen (13) HOP scene and twenty-five (25) puzzles. You collect hearts and morphing objects. HOP SCENES: Nothing special here! The scenes are standard fare, and to me, lack creativity. You can play a variation of a Match-3 game (Stepping Stones) in lieu of the scenes. Beside their signature HOP scene, there are also some multiple step ones, lists of items and silhouette scenes. EIPIX needs to spend some time on some in providing some creative elements within their HOP scenes. These are not the scenes I expect to see in an "Editor's Choice" game. PUZZLES: The puzzles are excellent and better than the HOP scenes. They are varied in both style and difficulty; however, there are none which are extremely difficult. Surprise! The instructions are well-written for a change. I did not find one puzzle I could not solve because of missing information within the instructions. There is one which requires some “observation” to solve. However, I am not certain this was not part of the design of the puzzle. FAVORITE PUZZLE: RIBBIT! There is a mathematical puzzle which has been seen in other games. Create a path for a frog to land on a lily pad by setting up a mathematical sequence of moves by using numbered tiles which move the tiles clockwise and counterclockwise. I thought the use of the frog was a novel idea. GIMMICKY LENS: H.E.L.P.! Could those agents from that EIPIX series please enter this game and get rid of the gimmicks! Returning in yet another developer’s game is the gimmicky lens to allow the player to see all those “objects” which cannot be seen without this special device. This “magical” lens has been used in many, many, many developer’s games. Like the EIPIX HOP scene, it has been used in so many games, it is now irritating. LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom Hints: 10 to 120 seconds Skips: 10 to 400 seconds EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 13 Achievements – Some with 3 parts Collect 34 Heart signs and 17 morphing objects Replay 25 puzzles and 13 HOP scenes and Stepping Stones (variation of a Match-3 game) 8 Wallpapers, 4 Concept Art HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE HOP SCENES: You can play a variation of a Match-3 game (Stepping Stones) in which you connect like stones to remove them. (A) Multiple step. (1) List of items. (2) Silhouette. (B) EIPIX HOP Scene (1) Search for five each of two items (2) List of items. (C) List of items (Mini-list) (D) Silhouette (E) Storybook PUZZLES: (1) Easy 2) Moderate difficulty (3) Difficult A. Tangram puzzle. Fit wood planks into position on a grid. However, in this one, you must leave red spaces uncovered. Rating: 2 B. Matching puzzle. Match up runes hidden within clouds to remove the clouds. Rating: 1 C. Sequence puzzle. Climb up ye wall to a castle. Press arrows in the right sequence to ascend a wall. You go granny! D. Mathematical puzzle. Plot a path for a frog to reach the exit. Place markers with a specific number of dots onto a scale (which moves the frog that many spaces either clockwise or counterclockwise) so that it leads a frog to a lotus flower all while avoiding snakes in its path. E. Magical lens. (Yes, Virginia the same one you now see in ALL games). Push it around to locate all those hidden runes in the scene. Rating 1 and Boring! F. Maze puzzle. Move three tokens to like slots on a circular maze. However, there are blocks in the way. You can only move the tokens to the next level of the rotating maze by entering a slot of the same color as the token. Moving them will open other paths (which is missing in the directions) Rating: 2 G. Logic puzzle. Set hands on a clock according to given directions. (Both hands move a different amount of spaces on the clock. Rating: 2 H. Matching puzzle. Match up book covers with the books which they fit. Rating: 1 I. Matching puzzle. On a hand rail, place animals with their matching habitats. Rating: 1

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I don’t know, what it means, that I am so sad….or the magic of love? The place chosen this time is an island in the river Rhine: the Loreley Rock near St. Goartshausen (Germany). Loreley, the beautiful blond girl, who combs her hair and sings on a rocky island in the Rhine river and all men, who listen and see her, die in the wild waters of the river. The tale is well known and has clearly inspired the story of the blond witch, who charmed the young nobleman of the castle of the nearby town, to leave his home and live with her on the island. But not enough, a couple comes to the island some day, by chance or intentional and the man will be bewitched as well. We play as the wife of that man, disappearing from our side, as soon as we set foot on the island. From the very beginning we are searching for him and trying to find out, what is behind his magical take off. When reaching the town on the opposite bank, people hint at tales of men, who went with the magical woman and never returned. At the castle we learn about the nobleman and the witch and meet his father, who is desperate but cannot help. The witch comes over as a two-sided character: on the one hand she asks for our help, on the other, she seems to be the ‘evil’ witch. But we are not helpless. As expected, we have sort of an amulet in our fight against the supernatural. We do this via a puzzle. This is not very challenging and of course a returning feature. Other puzzles are more entertaining and varied, though not too difficult. HOS vary as well, partly the story is told in the ‘find-items-in-a-picture’ or in text, which uncovers part of the possible method, we have, to overcome witchcraft in this game.
