Fantasy Mosaics 27: Secret Colors is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from THEY'VE ADDED A NEW FEATURE BUT IT'S NOT REALLY A NEW FEATURE Cousin Penny discovered some new colors, but got stuck in the portal in the process! Those ever so adventurous penguins have once again embarked on a journey, to find cousin Penny, and the key to unlocking some brand new colors! I love griddler games, and Fantasy Mosaics are among my favorite's in this genre.....but. For starters, I'd like to see the devs add more of a storyline, one that continues with each chapter, because just adding a new (and kind of lame) statue that makes no sense and has nothing to do with the theme, is getting old. I do like that the devs are starting to listen to us, or realize they have some real competition lately, so they are attempting to liven it up with a different feature or two. I say different, because it's not really a new, cutting edge feature, it's just a different approach! They have simply locked some of the colors, (until you fill in a certain set of the available colors which is initially 1-2 available colors) in an attempt to make the griddlers more challenging. This feature would be awesome, but in attempt to ease us into the new feature, they made the puzzles far to easy to solve! They have actually added two new features, the second one is a choice of 5 different tile sets, ranging in color vibrancy and styles. This feature has been standard within the Rainbow Mosaics series which offers twice as many, including unusual shapes like lego pieces, and they have a solid storyline throughout the game, so again, I'm just not that impressed with the flat dull options offered. The Eye feature has returned, which allows you to hide the grid to get a look at the puzzle without all the lines. Fantasy Mosaics 1-4 only offered single colored puzzles, and the introduction of 6 colors wasn't introduced until FM 16, and really with the exception of adding the Stars for not using Hints within the last few games, this is the first time they have added anything new in the last 11 games offered! You can earn a Gold trophy if you make no mistakes, a Silver trophy if you make one mistake and a Bronze trophy if you make two mistakes. You will also earn up to three gold Stars if you don't use any hints, one star is deducted each time you use a hint. Therefore, it is possible to make a mistake or two but still earn 3 stars as long as you don't use any available hints. The game may seem complicated if you're new to this genre, but it really is an easy game to learn. There are groups of numbers located on each column and row of the grid, each group of numbers must be separated by at least one blank or crossed off cell. Sometimes it's easier to figure out where numbers can't possibly fit to reduce the amount of cells and narrow the playing field down a bit. Some cells contain bonuses such as extra hints, extra mistakes allowed or an extra pickax which allows you to choose which cell you want a hint on. There is a Sun icon as well that when fully charged, will give you a mega hint, filling in or crossing off a 3x3 area of your choice. I'm still a fan of the Fantasy Mosaics series, they are always based upon logic, which isn't always the case with similar games. The pictures are always easily recognized, and they always seem to come up with a wide range of colors, so happy griddling and enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Thanks for the slight change in gameplay Fantasy Mosaics after 26 editions was becoming stale. There was improvement some time back when new and more interesting colors were added. The one aspect of game 27 that is novel is sometimes restricting the player from accessing one or more new colors in a particular grid until at least one given color is completed. Other than that it's the same old same old. Of late I personally only acquire a new FM game if I have a free game code about to expire ( still cannot figure out why BFG uses a 2 month limit on the free codes ) and I can't find any other game to be worthwhile. I own way too many FM's already. To be fair, Fantasy Mosaics are still the best produced in this genre

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A new challenge is added to the game I like the new version of the Fantasy Mosaics series. 1. Not all the colors to play with are shown in the beginning: you have to unlock more colors to play by filling in the right ones first. A nice extra challenge. 2. You can also change the looks of the colored tiles and I like the shining ones very much. It looks very bright and more beautiful. Unfortunately I still very much dislike the music on the background, but this feature can be turned off in the Options menu, so that is very nice. Then I can play my own background music. I understand it's impossible to create the music to everyones liking. I wouldn't be able to, even if I wanted to. Too many different tastes in the people. Overall this #27 in the series is a great improvement (and I'm not getting paid to say this) ;-)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from WHY CHANGE A GOOD THING? This series of griddlers became my favorite when they added more colors to the grids. Now they have decided to restrict the colors to unlock one at a time, which technically, takes it back to being a one-color (at a time) griddler. Seems like change for change's sake and does not add to the game for me. I didn't realize what was going on until I replayed one level. Only one color was unlocked to play, After I was about half way through that first color, then another color unlocked, but not the next color in order. I don't remember this in the levels I had played before this. I saw that not all the colors were available to play at first, but I'm pretty sure at least two colors where available at any one time. Perhaps the only one color available to play is a penalty for replaying the level. This will be the last game in this series that I will buy without playing the demo. If they want the game to be more challenging, then add this one color at a time option to the Advanced menu and leave us "boring" players to our relaxing play

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I hate the new change I've been playing this series since about part 13. I play for both challenge and relaxation but I play for perfectly clean rounds - no errors. Usually I jump from color to color to fill in parts I'm having problems guessing. With only one or two colors unlocked at first it's nearly impossible to solve a puzzle without making more mistakes than you're allowed so therefore get it restarted While I find it more difficult to solve, I find it highly irritating that I can't change back and forth between colors to start off on a slightly easier board to fill in gaps. Most of the boards I've played, through level seven, have been solved in messy manners in about four restarts until I can finally solve it. It's not fun that way. Also, the pick your pieces thing is almost useless. There's not enough difference to matter outside one has a texture. No idea why they thought this was a needed feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from my review I have loved all Fantasy Mosaics games up until this new release. I do not like not being able to access all the colors. I do not play this game for the challenge. I play it to relax. If this new feature is removed I may consider buying new releases. Otherwise I'll stick with 1 - 26. Thanks for the fun!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Boring !!! I saw this and thought goody a new type of Fantasy Mosaics (having not played any of them for a while now because they had become monotonous ).......How wrong was I ??? I was bored senseless !! I play these games to relax, yes, but not to be put to sleep ! The 'new twist' of locking colours did nothing at all; to be honest it needn't have been there at as they unlocked so easily....What where they thinking, and what was the point ? There was no challenge factor at all and I can say I was honestly disappointed and will not bother with Fantasy Mosaics again. There are better out there fishies so don't waste your time on this.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Yawn, there's really nothing new here at all. I can't believe all the rave reviews for this 27th cookie cutter game of Fantasy Mosaics. There really is nothing new except that several of your palette colors have locks on them. But all you have to do is solve a few columns or rows on the grid, and the locked colors shed their locks and become usable. Do you seriously consider this a new 'twist' in the game? There are still no achievements to attain, no awards, nothing to buy and nothing to build. There are no little mini-games or puzzles in-between grids to break up the monotony. And there are STILL penalties if you use a hint or a power-up. Sorry, but I'm tired of the lack of ingenuity. There are so many new up-and-coming developers bringing us much better grid games.
