Phantasmat: Curse of the Mist is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Camping Trip Turns Deadly You go out with friends, camping and having a good time, and don't expect anything but a good time. Maybe even tell some spooky stories, have fun around a campfire... you would never expect to have one kidnapped, leading into this race against the clock. And even then, are things as they seem? Will you be able to make it out alive? Honestly, I enjoyed this game. It got a bit predictable at points, yes, but overall I had fun playing the game. As this is the SE, you don't get the "bling" of a CE, but I don't think that it's really necessary. I think the game ended with a complete story, which I enjoyed learning. If there's more in the CE, it won't take away anything. This game is definitely one of the best in the series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVED THIS!! I don't understand all the bad reviews. I really enjoyed this game. It was hard for me to stop playing and when I had to, I couldn't wait to get back to playing it. I liked the puzzles, the HOS, interactive map...well everything! I've played almost all of the games in this series and this was one of my favorites.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Outdoor, woodsy detail is excellent Review based on completed game. Spot on graphics –lots of detail and natural colors, spooky grays and shadows. HOPS were enjoyable to play because of the style and look of them. The puzzles are on the whole pretty difficult, at least for me! There is still that serial-killer, mad-axe vibe especially in the beginning -which actually doesn't appeal to me. So, once I had got the gist of content of the initial cuts-cenes, I would skip them. I was able to watch the later scenes (where most of the story explanation is done), and I can tell you that this is a well-thought out story.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Caught In the Mist Yes, it is a short game (or seems that way as it goes fast), BUT the graphics are good and the mini puzzles are not too hard. The hidden objects are pretty standard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MORE DEAD, MORE GRAVES I just finished playing Curse of the Mist, and yes, it's a short game with somewhat of a predictable ending, but I enjoyed it. I found the Mini Games to be entertaining without being frustrating, and most of the HOP's were good, not great, but decent. I'm not yet finished playing the Bonus Chapter, but it appears that I've ended up in a hospital with issues, so it appears to be intriguing enough to hold my interest. I don't always enjoy the BC, and I prefer a continuation type or re-visitation at a later point in time. I realize that I'm somewhat biased, because the Phantasmat series is my favorite, and the original Phantasmat by Codeminion is my all time favorite game, but, if you're looking for a game with a fantastic story, an original story, please give the original Phantasmat a try. Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either is right for you: Phantasmat is my favorite series, and no game has ever come close to the magnitude of the original Phantasmat by Codeminion. Curse of the Mist is an excellent addition to the series and has a great "creep" factor. However, I have several complaints not related to the story line! First off, I was able to finish this demo with 30 minutes remaining, and that's with playing every Mini Game without skipping, AND taking the time to write down information on the game. The biggest complaint I have with the Collector's Edition version, is that the only bling offered are those famous Hidden Signs that are always offered in every game by this developer! One of the reasons I love this series is because I have always been able to count on Morphing Objects being available in every scene, but now they have decided to omit this beloved feature in the CE? I'd much rather see them omit those stupid Hidden Signs to be honest. I own every game in this series and they are all Collector's Editions, so I purchased this game in the CE version before I started the demo. Had I waited, I more than likely would not have shelled out the big bucks for a CE that has very little to offer, but that's just me, and others may love the Hidden signs and could care less about morphs etc. What's going on in the sleepy little town of Shady Valley? You're about to find out, because someone, or something, has taken your friend Jane. The closer you get to finding her, the thicker the strange mist gets. Where is the mist coming from, and just what kind of Phantasmat lurks somewhere between the world of the living, and the dead? I love that they have brought back the "visions" you have as you progress. It's a fantastic and creative way to fill you in on the background of the story, the who's, what's, where's, when's and why's so to speak. I've always wondered why every game seems to have diary pages spewed about, and conveniently available in every scene, as a means of telling the story, so this concept is so much more credible in my opinion. This is the section I usually explain about the many Collector's Edition version Collectibles. Here's your sign, that's all you're going to get in this CE! The Hidden Object Scenes are decent, and I liked the scene locations they chose, however, some of the HOP scenes are repeated, a feature I really hate. There's just no challenge in them when you remember where everything is because you were just there searching for objects. There are Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds, Combination Silhouetted Shape finds, Matching Symbol finds, and a really nice scene where you search for all Morphing Objects. Some scenes have zoom zones with a handful of Multiples to find as well, and you can opt for a Match 3 game instead. The Mini Games are my favorite kind, it's hard to describe, but the kind where you tinker with electrical components that are more realistic?? Below are brief descriptions of some of the Mini Games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Follow the clues on the map to choose the correct path direction. 2) Select and drag the main fuse from the bottom to the top circle on the board, by moving other fuses to change positions of the toggle gates. 3) Create electrical paths from the light on the right to the red button by selecting the switches on the top for each column. 4) Find and select the symbols shown on the dream catcher. 5) Slide the tokens from the starting positions on the left to the positions on the right by selecting a token and a highlighted space, without hitting the obstacles that change position with each move. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another Fantastic Phantasmat Hit This is posted after playing the entire game. WOW, this was a great game! I have to admit I had my doubts, but I really enjoyed this one. From start to finish... I really enjoyed it enough that I gave up the prettiest day we've had in a long while to sit here and play it. Graphics were well done. The colors were rather dark, but so was the story so that was fine. Sound was really good especially the voice overs. Very impressed with that. Music wasn't anything to write home about, but it wasn't intrusive at all. Effects, as usual, when along with the action in the scene. The hidden objects were good. I really enjoyed them. No silhouettes that I can remember anyway, just pretty much straight forward find the object. There were hidden object scenes within the hidden object scenes which all in all made for a good challenge. Now the mini games.... nuf said, they were mini games. I did a few of them, but honestly I just don't have the patience for them. I probably could have successfully completed more, but again, my level of desire isn't in mini games and with the custom setting, I had my skip set at the quickest level. The map was a big help. It told me where I had things to do and of course transported me there. The story had me from the beginning to end. I was a bit confused from what the description read and what I interpreted in the story. I thought my girlfriend got kidnapped, but apparently it was my boyfriend.... or a friend of a friend.. somebody got snatched and I think I ended up being a girl. Others will go into the story in depth, so I'll not bore you with it except to say, it's a really good story and I could have handled more. The game isn't all that long, but the story does a great job in the time it has. Give the demo a try and I think you will enjoy this as much as I did. It's a great continuation of the Phantasmat series.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ridiculously Short! I sure didn't get my money's worth with this game. It was all over just as I was really getting into it. Not much challenge and really nothing new. Lame story. Good graphics but that's about it.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This game sure is cursed I don't write reviews very often, but just had to with this game. I love the original Phantasmat and know that it cannot be duplicated. This game, however, was one of the worst games I've ever played. It felt disjointed. Almost like it was put together by 6 different teams of people. I found the HOS to be piles of junk. Puzzles were mediocre at best. I just finished the SE and am literally sitting here smh. I love a good game and sometimes the story is one that has done before and that is ok by me. The storyline here is so weak it barely makes sense. I've liked the other Phantasmats more or less that have come out since the original. This one however, is awful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just a really bad game Over the last few weeks ive replayed the older phantasmats so i was thrilled to see another one come out. Having been left down by a few collectors editions i decided to wait until the SE came out and boy am i glad i did. The game was ridiculously short. I was absolutely gobsmacked it was over so quickly. The mini games etc was very easy and to be honest nothing about the storyline made any sense to me. It was the most boring and awful game ive played in a long time. The phantasmat series has just really lost its way along with quite a few other series which seems to be the norm lately. Honestly keep your money and game credits. I dont think its in any worth it.
