Rated 5 out of 5 by from ~~CADENZA 5 CONTINUES TO CAPTIVATE FANS OF THIS POPULAR SERIES!~~ The fifth chapter in the famous Cadenza series is here and the stakes have never been higher. Theo is about to propose to his girlfriend, Elaine, when a masked man appears out of nowhere and kidnaps her in the restaurant and is holding her hostage. You play Nathaniel in this edition a family friend to Theo and Elaine. You soon learn that Theo is the undersign of a devious contract created by this masked villain known as the Phantom of the eternal dance. The adventure quickly becomes fast paced as you race against the clock to find the written enchanted melody of the eternal dance and play it with a violin in an attempt to save Elaine. The Phantom warns you that the eternal dance will NOT BE DENIED, but the music in your heart has the power to free everyone. The storyline is unique and I love the eye candy graphics. I love the awesome voices of the characters who do not just dry read the script but instead puts emotion in their voices. I feel more involved in story with great voice overs. The cryptex gadget that you use in the piano is a clever and useful tool that adds an extra surprise to the adventure too. I can say nothing negative even though it was a very short game. You know the old saying: “You can please some of the people all of the time and you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.” I think it's the appropriate metaphor for the Cadenza Series as a whole. While Cadenza continues to maintain an average 4 star rating, some editions are better than others. Fans of the series may be undecided during demo play but are likely to enjoy this one if played from start to finish. I did and I look forward to more Cadenza games in the future. Cheers! In this series: •Cadenza: Music, Betrayal and Death •Cadenza: The Kiss of Death •Cadenza: Havana Nights •Cadenza: Fame, Theft and Murder •Cadenza: The Eternal Dance

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not able to complete The game was fine until the second part, where the screen flashed bright white at 30 second intervals, I gave up after a few minutes.....very very off putting and headache making, if you can put up with that then it is a good game...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What Have They Done to this Series This is posted after playing the entire game. I have to admit I am extremely disappointed in what Mad Head has done to this series with this addition. Not only do we suffer through ghosts and goblins in about every game going, but they have taken this one to the extreme. It's not a bad game, it just didn't make very much sense. Graphics were very good and the music was fine. Effects went along with the action in the scene and the voice overs were very well done. I really liked the colors. They weren't dark and drab like usual in this genre of game and were really pleasant. I did like the mini games. I hate to admit it, but I enjoyed playing most of them. Nothing we haven't seen before, but for some reason they were fun to do. Just enough of a twist to make them easy enough for me to enjoy. Hidden objects were good and enjoyable to play. The map is great. As usual it shows where there is something to do and transports. There didn't seem to be a lot of running around, but it still came in handy. Where they lost me was the story. I honestly still don't understand the premise... well I know what it was trying to do... but getting there was tedious to say the least. I'll not go into the the story itself as others will do so much better than I. I just don't know what they were thinking when putting this together. A monster... come on people. You have created great stories in this series and this should have been one of them, but it fell way short. I bought the game and I'm not sorry I did. It killed a few hours on a rainy Florida afternoon, but I can't express my disappointment in what they did to this wonderful series. Play the demo and maybe you'll get more out of this than I did. I recommend the game because of the hidden objects and puzzles, but little else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from THE MUSIC IN YOUR HEART HAS THE POWER TO FREE EVERYONE After completing the entire game, I have bumped my rating up a star from my review of the Collector's Edition demo. I thought that the game improved after the demo, not by leaps and bounds, but it was less boring. The game is fairly easy, and there isn't a lot of back-and-forthing, most items you find are used in the same scene or one previous. It is on the short side, with just 4 chapters, but I think it seemed shorter because it was an easy game to play. There were two features that rather annoyed me, the first, was having to place each item exactly where the gears were, not just "near" the general area. The second seems kind of petty, but when an inventory item had multiples, such as 6 berries, you have to click 6 different times to place all 6 items not just a group placement and they all go to the same place. Here's a recap of my review to help you decide which version, if either, is right for you: The Eternal Dance is just another story about someone who makes the devil a deal, but refuses to honor the contract when payment is due. Although there is a slight twist to Theo's motive for making the deal in the first place, there's nothing new, nothing exciting about it, and it certainly doesn't hold a candle to the original Cadenza, Music, Betrayal and Death. One thing I loved about the Cadenza series was that it was realistic and believable, so I was really disappointed that not only did the story seem far fetched, but when they introduced a gadget, I knew it was game over. The Cryptex is used to activate various musical machines, which as far as gadgets go, isn't on the upper scale of Ripley's believe it or not, but still......? In the Collector's Edition version, there are 33 Dancing Pair Collectibles, and 33 Treasure Hunt Collectibles (Bonus section) and 14 Hidden Object Scene Morphing Items to find. I missed a couple of Morph's, and was happy that I was able to replay those HO's to collect the morphs I missed. I didn't bother with the BC, because it was a story that takes place on the "honeymoon" and I really had no interest to play this particular scenario, so I don't know if there's an opportunity to go back and search for any missing Dancing Couple's collectibles. The Hidden Object Scenes are basically all the same, but they are multi-layered, some have a small Mini Game, and the CE version has a Morphing Object to find in each one. There are Interactive List finds, Silhouetted Shape finds and items to place into the scene where they logically belong. The Mini Games aren't that fun, and most are far to easy to solve. I don't expect games to be so challenging they're frustrating, and I don't mind easy puzzles, as long as they are fun, but for me personally, these were not that fun. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1-Rearrange the numbers to match the sequence on the clue, by moving chips to available highlighted slots. 2-Arrange the 4 lyre symbols around the center using rotational arrows. 3-Cryptex puzzle requiring you to swap jewels to make matches of 3 identical jewels until all have disappeared. 4-Set the pressure gauge to zero by adjusting valves of different numbered values (+ or-) 5-Find and place the missing pieces of the image correctly. 6-Play the bells in the correct order as shown on the clue. 7-Place puzzle pieces correctly by clicking and dragging pieces to their correct highlighted slots. Rated 3 out of 5 by from CAN YOU STOP THE ETERNAL DANCE? REVIEW FROM COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS You play Nathan, who is engaged to Elaine, who has a brother called Theo. Its a race against time to rescue both. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Novice, Artist, Virtuoso, Maestro and., Improviser modes; * Interactive map; * Objectives book; * Cryptex to go to different locations. The graphics are spectacular - colours are great, well defined and every scene is clear to see. The music is mainly orchestral and piano. The hidden object games are mainly interactive straightforward, silhouette, putting items back and symbols. Items to find are clear to see. Watch out for that one morphing object per HOP which always has a good challenge. Most of the mini-games are very easy. There were a couple that took me longer to do which was the bottles game in the bonus and navigating tiles with directional arrows to get from A to B. However, these are all very accomplishable. I enjoyed playing them all. I didn't use the interactive map at all because there are only a couple of scenes to accomplish before moving on. So, do you get the CE or SE? In the CE, the bonus game is about you playing Elaine this time who has to rescue Nathan who has been turned into .... a doll! There are 33 collectibles to find throughout the game and bonus which are a couple dancing. These are huge and very easy to spot. There are 10 Achievements (all with 3 circles in each). In all honesty, I think the SE is the better choice. All up the game, bonus and extras took me about 6 hours, so good value for money. Overall, its pretty much a standard game with nothing unique but will fill in a couple of hours each night during the week. I didn't much like the story line as its been done a hundred times before. However, I did enjoy the HOPs and mini-games. Recommeded if you feel like chilling out and feeling like an easy game to play.
