Legend of Rome: The Wrath of Mars is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Another "Legend Of" For My Collection I've enjoyed the others in this series and I think this Match 3 will be fun as well. The demo was fun, the gameboard was colorful and the tiles were easy to see. However, the graphics weren't ideal. But really, it made no difference to the quality of the game, IMO. From my time in the demo, I was pleased to see a good amount of bonus features and extras available. I love earning achievements, and restoring and building has always been a favorite of mine. I like Match 3 games, keeping enough on hand, as a break once in a while from my most favorite genre, the HOPA. But picking out a quality Match 3 is sometimes challenging because I don't play them regularly. Pennmom's excellent, detailed reviews are quite helpful to me so I use the info to help me decide yay or nay when I am on that familiar fence. I love reading everyone's reviews and opinions. It is always amazing that one person's 5 star is another person's 1 star. I will purchase this Match 3 with my soon-to-expire coupon. Very good timing, indeed! Thanks Big Fish. God Bless....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it! Initially, the game needed a resolution adjustment to center on my monitor. After that, it was a go! I like the visual, the play of the match three and the occasional task that served as a break from the match three. Fun and challenging. For me it was a buy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good match3 game! Nice game, everything runs smooth. The reason that I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is that the colours of the pieces are very similar and hard to keep apart. I like this series and think I am going to buy it with todays sale.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best of the Series I have played all games in this series and to be honest found it quite tedious trying to meet the achievements needed in them to move on and upgrade buildings. This one however whilst not different in gameplay to the others seems to move along well. You will still choose a 'blind' bonus if you finish in perfect time, but you are choosing from leather cups, and not lotus flowers etc. It is more realistic. All in all I feel this is the best of the offerings in this series so far and although the graphics are not outstanding they are peaceful (until Mars drops by) and eye pleasing. Perhaps it is the Village setting of the build that makes it seem just less childish or cartoony as the previous games. The board the tokens are large and very colourful. I am playing normal timed, and find the challenge just right enough to make me get a little anxious, but really at the end of the day you don't have to make every level, it will keep playing on till you get there and all you will miss is your bonus pick and making another step toward how many 'perfects' you need for one achievement. You just keep playing. This developer gives us long length games. I am enjoying this one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I ALWAYS THOUGHT ZEUS & HADES WERE THE REAL "BADDIES" TURNS OUT MARS HAS A BAD TEMPER TOO! After a victorious battle, the soldiers began to celebrate and praise Mercutio for his leadership and bravery. Mars was furious, after all, he is the god of war, and he is the reason for their success. In a fit of rage Mars ordered his army to destroy everything they had fought for. A humbled Mercutio now stood before Mars in the wake of destruction to hear his demands. Mercutio must lead his people as they rebuild their homes and farms, and find a way to fall back into grace with the god of war. This is the fourth game in the series, and I have always enjoyed this series because they remind me of my beloved Cradle of Rome series. The graphics could be better, but this cartoon style of graphics is used in most of Magnussoft's games. You can adjust the resolution but the only thing it does is add Roman Columns to each side instead of the large black lines. You can play in a Relaxed, Medium or Hard Mode of difficulty and there are 35 Achievements to earn. The tutorial can be turned off, and I will admit that it basically explains nothing. You can earn up to 3 Stars per level, but it doesn't allow you to replay a level, but I've only played the demo and I earned all 3 Stars, so it may allow you to replay if you don't earn 3 stars. There is a Time Meter on the bottom right and a Star Meter on the bottom left, so what I recommend is that you keep an eye on the meters, and if it appears that you will lose a star, click on the " to pause the game and click replay on the pop-up menu before completing the game. The Level Goals are usually the same for each level and are shown on the bar below the Match 3 board. If Coins are shown, the goal is to earn money by making matches over all of the yellow, brown or green cells to break them. Some levels may require you to collect Water tiles (pitchers-amphoras?) Food tiles or other specific tiles as pictured on the bar beneath the board as well as the amount needed. Large Matches will give you a bomb on the board, of various strengths, according to the size of the match made. These bombs can be swapped with any tile, or double-clicked to detonate it. As you progress, Boosters are added to the left and right Icons that can be used at your discretion, once it has been charged. They are the usual boosters that allow you to use a Hammer on a single tile, chain or obstacle, use Neptune's Trident to blast an entire row etc. Eventually, you can purchase upgrades and boosters in the Shop. There are the usual Obstacles of Roped Tiles, Double Roped Tiles, Brick Tiles, Double Bricked Tiles, Crate Tiles, and Double Crate Tiles, that may or may not need to be destroyed because sometimes they aren't blocking a yellow or green tile. After completing a Level, you get to choose a Cup which hides coins or other resources. If you have earned enough Stars, Coins, and various Resources, you can purchase a new House, Farm, Livestock or Tool to eventually rebuild the town that was destroyed by Mars. One of the features I love about this game is how quickly it flows. The levels allow you to make fast, consecutive matches and after completing the level, it immediately rolls away to the cup selection and then to the building portion, there's absolutely no Lag-time! Even the dialog from the characters is brief and can be skipped. I used all my PCC's Monday for Bonus Punch Monday, but as soon as I get a new code, I will definitely be adding this game to my collection! Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's basically a match3 with extras I found one problem with this game which is quite annoying - when you want to upgrade a building/facility in your village/town, it is very difficult to find the right point to click on to get the upgrade panel to appear. The upgrade indicator arrow should be clickable or there should be a separate upgrade wndow you can select. Clicking all around the picture and watching the upgrade banner switch from left to right and back again is very annoying and distracts from the game play. BTW you cannot click on the upgrade banner as it moves as soon as you move the cursor pointer. Otherwise it is a quite challenging game and it gives you choices to make on buying building etc to see which bonuses you an get for eliminating hard to clear tiles. I bought the game before realising that the upgrade part was difficult so I am unwilling to recommend this game until this bug is fixed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not As Much Fun As I Thought It Would Be I played the demo and liked it enough to buy. It's an okay match 3 game, but there aren't as many extra puzzles as I thought there would be and the instructions for the puzzles are obscure. Once you build everything, it's just a matter of playing the match 3 games until you have enough materials to upgrade. It gets pretty boring. The characters can be annoying. Mars is a spoiled bully and the girlfriend/wife is a Debbie Downer. If you want mostly solid match 3 play, buy this. If you want more puzzle variety, don't.
