Haunted Legends: Twisted Fate Collector's Edition is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from This as bad as it can get . . . perhaps even worse than that! If you’ve read some of the other reviews, you’re probably as confused as I was before I played the demo. One reviewer said that the graphics were crystal clear, while another said that the graphics are dark and dreary and void of color. To call the graphics even ‘dark and dreary’ is to be way too kind to the artist whose work this is. Dull, dismal, washed out, unappealing —yep, much better, or worse, depending on your point of view! The game was described by a reviewer as having an interesting storyline and characters, yet another said that it was snail-paced. Even saying this game is ‘snail-paced’ is stretching it quite a bit. I’m trying to think of something that moves even slower than a snail. Wait, I’ve got it! Molasses in an Alaskan winter, after being left outside all night! The characters are flat, both in artistic rendition and in personality. I could not care less about them or their plight. The story is one we’ve seen time and time again; wife’s been kidnapped, spirited away, whatever. The culprit is an evil entity, a turncoat friend, a paranormal being, whatever. Hidden object sequences and mini-games should merge with, and enhance the game play. In this game they don’t do that, not even remotely. If I had played this demo ten years ago, even five years ago, I might have written a more positive review. I mean, this is what graphics looked like back then. This was the banal storyline we accepted back then. We just didn’t know any better, having nothing else with which to make a comparison. Given the state-of-the-art CGI engines readily available today, and the huge pool of creative and talented people in the industry —as evident in such products as both of the Adam Wolfe games; Path of Sin - Greed Collector's Edition; Maze – Subject 360 Collector's Edition, to mention just a few —this game, Haunted Legends - Twisted Fate, just doesn’t measure up. I have several of the Haunted Legends games, this one will definitely not be added to my collection. I’m going to forego my usual caveat that you play the demo yourself and make your own decision. Instead, I’m going to say don’t even bother to do that as it’s certain you’ll find this game a waste of your download capacity and, for sure a waste of your time.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Probably Not That Bad, But Definitely Not That Good Pulled out of retirement by Count Von Mart, The Detective will search for the thief of the Hourglass, an amulet that enables the bearer to steal the time accorded others in life, making the possessor virtually immortal. There are immortal guardians who will step in to retrieve the Hourglass if the Count does not recover it by dawn. Long guarded by the Order of the Lions, there are several parts to the artifact besides that guarded by the Count. Each one holds a different attribute. Good stuff: You know the drill. All the usual stuff, done as you'd expect, with varying levels of success and some CE bling, including morphing items. Bad stuff: Dreary but clear artwork, lack of logic, typos, and general lack of urgency and momentum. The Count leans out a window next to the front door and hands me one of the three pieces I need to open the door. He is sucked back into the house. I run around the front yard playing till I find everything I need to unlock his front door from the OUTSIDE. The Count is wounded by his wife’s assailant. I retrieve bandages and antiseptic from his alchemy bag and proceed to bandage the OUTSIDE of his coat. I must play through several puzzles and make a rope out of old clothes/rags to jump from a balcony to save the time it would have taken to go downstairs and out the front door. I make it to the next stop for the bad guy in time to see him enter. Then I run around finding all the pieces needed so I can get inside by unlocking the doors from the OUTSIDE. As is now SOP for this series, there are lots more of these cringe-worthy moments. Bottom line: There is little to recommend this game. So I won’t. If you decide to play the Demo, keep in mind, you’ve been forewarned!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Boring. Boring. Did I say it was boring? Okay, I managed to last through thirteen minutes of the trial, but the Count was driving me crazy. His voice was monotonous and he had absolutely no sense of urgency. If my spouse were being attacked by magical ghosts that were sucking out the life force, I think I would be a teensy bit perturbed! I do own a number of the games in this series, but I'm giving up. Life is too short. I wish the devs would hire some real voice actors. Try it for yourself. I really don't recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from YES....THIS IS THE WORST ONE OF THEM ALL The only thing going for this is the atmosphere. Other than that, it totally sucks. I could not even finish the demo. All I am doing is dealing with super annoying puzzles one right after another....a stupid story line where we have to deal with multitudes of symbols again, matching them up....story type hos...finding pieces in 2 scenes, then having to put them together whether you want to or not....just more puzzles to do. Then there is a mini hos where I am matching fruit. This nonsense didn't stop. It is totally empty of interest. It doesn't matter if there is a story or not. They have you held hostage to all of their mini games. When I play a game I like to have balance and this clearly does not have any balance at all. I do not want to be spending all my time with excessive puzzles. If I wanted a puzzle game then that is what I would get. And haven't we had enough of symbols all over the place? After having all of the others in this series, I was hoping and expecting for something better than this....but not to be. It's twisted alright... a bore and a chore. The most exiting thing was uninstalling it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Lame Waste of time. Kept playing demo to see if it got better. It didn't. Too many cut scenes. Too much dialogue. Puzzles too easy.
