Mystery Case Files: The Countess is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Played for 5 minutes, got annoyed. This game is too cartoony and cheesy for me. I hate waiting for people to finish talking and long animated scenes of predictable things happening and cartoony people yelling "Help!". The puzzles were just meh, less figuring things out and just manipulation of pieces, which I find boring.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from puzzles puzzles and more way too many puzzles. I was bored and annoyed within the first 15 min of the game.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from No Mystery Case Files This game has nothing to do with the Mystery Case Files I know. I played them all. The storyline is not interesting. I finished the game because I bought it, otherwise I would have been stopped earlier. I looked forward to play this game (I always do with new MCF), but it was very disapointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Challenging in all the wrong ways. This is not MCF. The only MCF game I have ever disliked - I've been disappointed in the last few but this I literally only completed because I paid for it, and because I've done all the other MCF's. There is no vestige of the original games left at all, even the other MCF's by this developer had something you could recognise, but this is now just a generic run of the mill game. Hardly any HOP's, and the other puzzles there are are so badly instructed that I found myself skipping most of them, which is unheard of. Graphics are fine, storyline is the same as so many others out there now. All just forgettable. As a hard core MCF fan, this is just really really disappointing. I know the series has gone down hill over the last few years, and this one may be enough to stop me purchasing the inevitable next installment of what seems to have become a cash cow rather than the fruition of a developers passion.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Puzzle after puzzle after puzzle To quote a reviewer of the CE, "Don't buy this. Don't even do the trial. It's nothing but "map here", "map there", "skip puzzle" (the puzzles have no plausible nexus to the story line). It's so bad that it's embarrassing to say that I once ADORED Mystery Case Files. WHAT HAPPENED???" That about sums it up for me. The demo was almost all puzzles. You go from room to room and back doing nothing but finding yet another puzzle. I do not exaggerate. There were two very easy HOS during the demo, and they were no more germane to the story line than the puzzles were. If BFG were giving this game away, I wouldn't take it!
