Rated 5 out of 5 by from I loved this game I look forward to this game every year. It helps me relax during the crazy holiday time. It fun to see the twists put on the classic fairy tales. I found some of the mini-games frustrating because the instructions were not very clear, but I am glad I purchased it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent & Grimm Christmas Story This is more lighthearted than most Grimm Tales however its storyline is very likeable, plausible & I enjoyed it! You are Grimm's daughter and you have to save Grimm & Christmas and various other characters you meet in Fairyland while the wicked are about trying to revenge-ruin it for everyone. Who knew Rapunzel's mother is such a witch and would fall for the bad guy? There were some twists on the games we normally play and you really have to use your noodle to find certain items -the prison stumped me for awhile. But I try to get all the awards no matter how long it takes rather than use the hint. I loved having to find the Christmas Trees - some are very hard to see but each are individually different. You have to find Gingerbread Cookies in many places on every page to purchase things in a secret room you decorate for Christmas! The music was nice, I like wind up music boxes I don't think a game can go wrong with that -ever. I totally think you will like this game as a Hidden Object game, morphing, plenty of other extras & fun Bonus Chapter stuff etc! This is Beginner to Intermediate level to Expert if you choose the Expert Level. Knowledge of these games would be better than to choose this as your first ever time to play one - if its your first to play I'd not choose its Collector's Edition Version as there are too many variables for a newbie to keep up with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A surprising Grimm Christmas tale I very much liked this game - it was nice and l-o-n-g and I spent a good handful of hours playing it. The storyline proceeded with clarity throughout, and the artwork was beyond excellent. I wasn't sure about incorporating Grimm characters into a Christmas story, but it worked nicely enough, though as another reviewer wrote, it wasn't a really Christmas-y plot, other than Rumple focused on ruining Christmas and the snow, of course. Plenty of puzzles, interesting HO scenes, and well-paced. My favorite is the clarity and detail of the artwork, which is a pleasure in itself. If you don't mind lots of puzzles and a bit of running back and forth - and Grimm characters in your Christmas story, give this one a try.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I particularly liked the beautifully drawn artwork and the varied mini-games If your father Wilhelm Grimm is drawn into one of his fairy tale books by Dame Gothel's dark magic, you have to go on an adventure in fairyland to stop Dame Gothel and save Wilhelm, the fairyland and the future of Christmas yourself! Meet classic characters and make new friends on your journey through the wonderland ... That is the story behind The Christmas Spirit - Grimm Tales. Exciting and nice made Christmas HO Game. I particularly liked the beautifully drawn artwork and the varied mini-games.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A "Grimm" Christmas that is truly a delight! based on demo: (For those of you who watched the show Once Upon a Time, you will undeniably recognize one of the main characters from it at demo's end, and my favorite character from that show - which kinda stuns me. Can they do that? lol - well, they did. :)) ... Enter the world of Grimm's fairytales, where you will help Hansel & Gretel (I'm sensing a trend here lol), Little Red Riding Hood and others, as you seek to find and save your storyteller father (Grimm) from the witch who changed him into an owl and has taken him captive...through the game, you'll speak with him and gain necessary items via the witch's enchanted mirror, seeking crystals to power it each time. (I, for one, don't mind these kind of gimmicks in Christmas games, if they fit plot well, though am not always crazy about them in others...) And since your father is Grimm, the author of these fairytales, it makes sense to get his input as you travel through the fairytale world he created... Domini brings us another festive Christmas tale full of charm and little delights sprinkled throughout - these devs. are wonderful at creating a lot of interaction with non-game objects through many of the scenes - those items not necessary to progress in the game - and I recommend you turn off the function that allows the icon to change over active areas (in custom settings) to click on everything and fully enjoy their little extra surprises. :) There are A) morphing Christmas trees - each one unique and a little fast at 3 second intervals, but still enjoyable to spot. B) Gingerbread stars in place of the usual puzzle pieces in the popup windows, to use in the extras, to exchange for items to fill your parlor with Christmas decor, etc, and C) constellations to find (not always in the sky), with a 3 disc-panel in your inventory that shows when a certain collectible is present. A jump map also shows collectibles, if wanted. Once you go through a portal to the next story character, you can't go back from what I could tell, so you'll need to keep an eye out to make sure you get them all first (I am uncertain if you can go back into the game thru the extras menu, to get missed collectibles. I had gathered all of them shown at that point of demo's end, but when clicking on those I found as well as the empty spaces beside them, both in the morphing trees area and in the constellations nothing happened, so my guess is not.) I just recommend whenever you open a portal, do what I do: before going through it, go back through the scenes and look first, or check the map. :) Festive music and brilliant and colorful graphics in a snowy winter wonderland help make the gameplay a true delight - and the mini games themselves are intriguing, fun, and a bit of a challenge. Just how I like them! Not too hard, not too easy. There is also an "easy" and "hard" choice, which I love that these devs. do that. HOPs were colorful, even cute (the hide and seek mice one my favorite so far)... I didn't want to quit playing when demo ended - this is a must buy. For the young at heart and children alike - enter the fantastic, fairytale world of Grimm, with cozy and festive holiday scenes that are far from dismal - and at least give the demo a whirl! Merry Christmas! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OH NO, THEY'RE TRYING TO ERASE CHRISTMAS FOREVER! ? Completed Game approximately 7+ hours (including completion of all mini-games & CE Bonus Chapter) 25 Scene Locations + 10 in the CE Bonus Chapter Difficulty Range: Beginners This is the way a Christmas Story should be, wickedness running amuck, while still remaining light-hearted and full of Christmas Cheer...and of course, a "Happily Ever After" ending. Well done big D, and did I detect a bit of sarcasm in response to the "other" Christmas game? Gadget/Helper (9 times in the main chapter only) There is a Magical Mirror Gadget that allows you to communicate with your father, Wilhelm Grimm. Because they don't have an unlimited Data Plan in Fairyworld, you'll have to get your "minutes" by replacing one Blue and one Green Crystal, and naturally, the "minutes" don't roll-over and the Crystals shatter after each use. Morphing Objects & Collectibles: There are 15 Morphing Christmas Trees and 15 Constellations Collectibles that can be a little hard to spot in some scenes. Each scene has at least one Zoom-Zone Gingerbread Stars Collectible of varying amounts. The Gingerbread Stars are used to purchase 15 Boudoir items that are Christmas themed. The Collectibles and Morphing Objects are available throughout the Main Chapter as well as the Bonus Chapter (CE version) Hidden Object Scenes: There are 18 Hidden Object Scenes +5 in the CE Bonus Chapter with an optional Match 3 Game available. There are several variations offered such as Interactive Listed Items, Keywords in Sentence Finds, Listed Multiples of Item Finds, Find & Replace Items, Combo Finds, and my favorite, Listed items that are missing letters. Mini-Games: There are 32 Mini-Games +10 in the CE Bonus Chapter, most of which can be played in an Easy or Hard difficulty mode. Below are brief descriptions of some of my personal favorite puzzles from the game. 1-Place bells on shelves so each group of music symbols is surrounded by their symbol-related bells. 2-Slide beaded ropes up or down to align the symbols to the door's edge. 3-Use directional arrows to move the tassel the specified number of moves shown on each tile to land on the green tile. 4-Move, rotate and scale images to fit the highlights on the background. 5-Rotate triangle puzzle pieces to complete the image. 6-Drag a line between color-coded buttons without overlapping. Bonus Chapter: (Collector's Edition version only) There's no rest for Mother Holle as she tries to make this season bright. When Mother Holle refuses to hand over the keys to Christmas World, her sister Hedgewitch turns her into a mouse (there seems to be a lot of that going on nowadays) This is a fairly-lengthy chapter that takes place over 10 Scene Locations with 10 additional Mini-Games and 5 Hidden Object Scenes, You will pick up the remaining 4 Morphing Christmas Trees, 4 Constellations (completes the Constellation Room, and 16 Gingerbread Stars of various amounts which allows you to purchase the final Boudior purchases. Collector's Edition Extra's 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art Pictures, 5 Music Soundtracks. 30 Cutscene Movie Videos, 16 Replayable Mini-Games, 18 Replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 40 Achievements to Earn. 15 Morphing Christmas Trees, 15 Constellations, 88 Gingerbread Stars (used to purchase 15 items in your Boudoir) 5 Main Chapters +Bonis Chapter, and a Built-In Strategy Guide. Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Christmas Fairyland Delight! This game was a joy to play. Our favorite fairy tale characters come to life in this HOP adventure. And as another reviewer mentioned, one bears a striking resemblance to its counterpart in the tv show, Once Upon a Time. The mini-games were varied and many of the HO scenes were as well. The main story and the bonus chapter are both very long and worthy of a Collector's Edition. Great voiceovers, realistic colors and nice graphics complete the picture. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Missing letters missing something What a lovely Christmas story with some beautiful Christmas theme images and effects. Old fashioned magic. I have one complaint about the hidden objects missing one or two letters. It isn't usually considered complete when the missing letters don't spell out a secret or object. It left me feeling dumb when they were just random letters, even at the end of the hop. They could have been a scrambled word or scrambled words (not more my own favorite over letters missing already in order, but better than nothing.) It's disappointing when something like that is half-done looking. I recognize that with one or two letters missing, some words looked like other words, which was a laugh, but it ought to be all of them, and I would still want to unscramble the letters (or better yet read down the blanks as I guess the words) which is a lot more complete and tells me why the letters were missing in the first place. Oh, that wallpaper, some of it was really cute. I don't like character themed wallpaper often, as in these games, the characters are usually too cartoony for my tastes, but these are nice. The concept art is exquisite Victorian era scenes outlined in depth and shaded with red and green here and there. Those are certainly nice looking as wallpaper/background. They would look nice in a coffee-table book of prints.
