Beyond the Kingdom 2 Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 11.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It was worth the wait! I've been waiting an age for this sequel and it doesn't disappoint! The first Beyond The Kingdom game was a huge favourite of mine, which I replayed many times while hoping for a follow-up. Finally it's here :-) There are some differences but the basic gameplay remains the same. Build the usual sawmills, farms, gold mines etc. while fighting off man eating plants and crystal monsters, all with the aid of your druid friend, who luckily has magic at his disposal. The one thing that is missing is the Bard, whose lyre music inspired the workers to run and work harder. I must admit to being a bit sad that he has been replaced; instead the workers pick up lightning bolts placed around the playing area. These have the same effect as the Bard but for me just aren't as nice. Maybe they'll find him on another island! There are 3 modes of play, including relaxed and extras include a built-in SG (which you access via the ? at the top left of screen) and bonus levels, In the last game there were 3 more islands to play so hopefully this game is the same! The graphics are of a high quality and the overall game is a lot of fun. It retains the charm of the first episode and adds enough differences that you don't feel as though you're just playing the first game over again. An instant buy for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thanks developer ! First of all, please excuse my bad english. Yes ! A challenging game ! I played this game in challenge mode, and I really enjoyed it. It's a "basic" TM game, but in a good way. The graphics are nice, the bard and the druids are a good addition. There are 40 main levels and 10 bonus levels. I really appreciated that the challenging mode is really difficult. If I play a game in challenge mode, I expect to use my brain ! This mode is challenging, but not impossible though. After many tries, I found the right strategies and got 3 stars on every level. For me, this game has the perfect amont of challenge. I also appreciated that the levels were dense and lasted a long time. I hope that the next games of the series will be as fun and challenging as this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just delightful in every way! Well I loved the first one, and I love this one! It is a beautifully designed TM and the graphics are really eye pleasing and fun to work with. You will build and gather, clear and upgrade, banish bad folk and dig stuff just like most standard games. However the features in this one are often centered around a lot of trading and exchange thus adding another level of thought. Even some of the production buildings require a ‘swap ‘ of resources rather than just pumping out the product. (some do) One of the new features in this game is that the druid that restores withered food bushes (after you build his tent) can also change one building to another if it has an ‘exchange alter’ attached to it. This means you may perhaps have a sawmill..but it can be changed to a quarry and back again etc. So more strategy for you to master. Another is the bard tent where he gives you speedy boots when you check in is also supplemented with little lightening bolts scattered around and also coming up on alters that whizz you along when you pick them up. You get to decide when you use some..and some are collected within the game design in order to clear the road. Another is an ‘observation tower’ that reveals hidden resources. This is your best friend lol. Once you activate it all manner of things appear on the screen to grab!, including the auto collect feature that does not wear off. (good one) There are pirates that have cannons to blow up things, there are leprechauns that trade for gold, hunters that chase monsters and collect gold, gold and crystal mines..lots of stuff to do. If people are ‘frozen’ you must thaw them out by lighting fires. Try the demo of course, but this is an absolute feel good game that has a great strategy guide with actual hints like ‘don’t bother removing that’ if you want three stars.' Always check your goals carefully as some things don't need to be removed and snavel your resources. There are three level modes inc relax, and achievements. It starts off quite easy but it does keep ramping up the challenge. It is a CE worthy game but strangely you must wait until completion of the main game to access your wallpapers, music and soundtrack. Also don’t be worried if on completion of each level your map becomes gigantic , just wait a few seconds and it will recede. Something to do with the ActiveX download it uses. You will be prompted for this and it will check if you have it already or not. It’s a buy for me for sure! Enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have been waiting for this one Since I played the demo of part 2 of this serie, I have been waiting with great anticipation. I really love playing this one. If you like TM games, this is imho a must-have. I leave the more elaborate reviews to the better English writers and fellow TM fans like Joybelle. But I assure you, you will not be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from At last! I have been waiting for a sequel to this - I really enjoyed the first one. It's a bit different to similar time management games which gives it an edge. Unfortunately I don't know what it is that sets it apart. Can't wait for it to come out on standard version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WHAT ARE THEY HIDING FROM UNSUSPECTING PLAYERS? WHAT'S IN YOUR WALLET? Is this a fun and challenging Time Management game? Yes, and it is a big improvement from the first Beyond the Kingdom. If this was a Standard Edition version I probably would have given it 5-Stars HOWEVER, don't ask me to purchase a pig in a poke, that's a no go! Don't ask me to purchase and play the ENTIRE game before knowing what I actually get for my hard-earned money! CE Soundtracks-LOCKED, Concept Art-LOCKED, Extra Levels-LOCKED! This may be a 10-Star kind of game, but I don't appreciate the deceitfulness, what are you trying to hide? I'm going to assume that the CE bling isn't worth the CE price, otherwise, you would have proudly shown players what they can expect when they purchase this CE version...and for that tactic, you not only lost a star, you lost my CE purchase and you lost my trust. I don't care if this is the best game ever created and I don't care if this review is on the 15th page, I won't buy this CE version because of your intentional deceit! They have changed a few features and added a Relaxed Difficulty Mode to go along with the Casual and Challenge Modes, and I loved that you can change modes on each individual level without losing your progress. They have also added an option to enable/disable the Green Light Hints which is really cool (the green, yellow, red highlights around tasks) There are 31 Achievements to earn (why aren't those LOCKED?) as you play a mysterious number of levels over several Islands~ Palm Isle*Emerald Meadow*Parrort Jungle*Sunny Canyon*Valley of Mountains*Green Hills*Northern Lands, surprisingly they didn't hide those either :) The graphics are decent and I'm glad they brought back those pesky Little Shop of Horrors plants, I think they are unusual and make the game more interesting. Each level is crammed with resources to collect but they are still the usual tried and true till you're blue tasks of gathering blueberries and whatever the red stuff is from bushes, giant ham hocks left out in the blistering sun, wood that has been freshly cut and neatly stacked (that was nice of whoever I stole the wood from) and treasure chests to pilfer gold (arrr, hope the pirates don't return anytime soon!) There are the usual repairs of bridges, potholes, tree blockages, weeds, and leaves to remove, revitalizing buildings as well as the usual construction of Farms, Sawmills, Fisherman Huts, Goldmines, Quarries, Barracks, Huts for workers Hunters Huts (so the Archer has a home, apparently the Archer who hunts with a Bow & Arrow versus a gun btw, is an expert in explosives...hmmm?) The Druid does his Druid Duties Dutifully, once he gets paid with dried bushes of course, and each level has a specific goal to achieve such as getting the Gorgon to drive away stormclouds, or chasing away enchanted sheep which was a cool concept but wouldn't it have been really cool if the enchanted sheep were Morphing Sheep to collect? (they would probably have been LOCKED too :) I'll revisit this game when the Standard Edition version is released because I refuse to purchase this CE version, which may or may not be CE worthy, because my initial thought is that this tactic was intentional because the offerings aren't worthy. I'd like to believe that due to inexperience this developer simply thought it would be a treat to reveal the CE bling prizes after completing the entire game. Personally, I'm not willing to pay twice as much for a game just to see what's waiting at the end of the rainbow. I think this is a great TM game that will certainly please most TM fans, but my conscience won't allow me to recommend this CE version. Caveat Emptor! Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hey, Much Better! Collect, build, destroy and any combo thereof. But this is fun. Yes, it still cheerfully "borrows" stuff like the map and some monsters from classics but we don't see stuff like Royal Envoy any more so I'm over it. The options dashboard allows you to adjust sounds, music and effects as well as disable those hint rings which are a nuisance and degrade the graphics experience. Yay! Gone! New and useful additions include the energy bolt which really jolts the workers into action. Lots of different things to do to get your tasks done and dusted. Graphics are cartoonish but I like the 3-d characters very much and scenes are lively and animated. This one is a touch more challenging than the previous BTK. Four and half stars, it's pretty good! But, I'll get the Standard edition--not into wallpapers and such.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from patience and persistence I enjoyed this game a lot, until the last episode. I had to replay some levels, but that last level is a dilly. Perfect game for the house bound with time on their hands.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing Royal Envoy.... The games - at first sight- seem´s to be a new episode of a royal Envoy story plot as it uses the same graphics for the map.... what a shame -it is NOT!! Comparing plot, effects challenges and graphics of the acutal game it is missing all the sophisticated details and actions, strategic planning is more or less not needed..... and the humour ot the characters is missing. To make this long lamento shorter: I was extremely disappointed, that the "wrapping" does promise a content that is not provided... When will a new ROYAL ENVOY Episode be released?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The End Killed It I play these games on the "relax" setting because I like just kind of puttering around. So it was with a bit of regret that I reached the final chapter and started it. Now I'm sorry I bought this game as I will never bother to finish it. The ending chapter is SO EXACT that, even with the in-game walk-thru, it's hard to finish. I started about 5 times and gave up. I hate having to re-start a game. So... good game, lame ending. Up to you if you want to bother... I wouldn't. I'm saying I would recommend the game because they don't have a "meh" button. As I said... it's kind of up to you as to whether it's worth getting due to the end.
