Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant old school game This is an amazing old school hidden object puzzle adventure game. The art style is unique but brilliant and the wide range of characters was a breath of fresh air to see! Really looking forward to seeing more from this developer:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A very solid adventure So, I'm probably going to go and make a more indepth review of this game at some point, but for now, you get to enjoy reading a short recap of my thoughts of the game. The premise is simple: your girlfriend, soon to be fiance, was supposed to take a plane to meet you, but she never showed up. In your infinite wisdom, you end up taking a plane to a fictional city in Russia to try and find what happened to her. Afterwards, it's not just puzzles for the sake of puzzles, this plays like it would be a great adventure game like the old LucasArts days, because while you have to do things inconveniently, you're not expected to just click your mouse all day long, there's a rhyme and reason behind everything you do. For example, you need to make a printing press piece at some point in the game for a guy who you just beat at in dominoes. Typically, you'd go around, clicking on things; here, you have to get a metal pan, find a mould, find a stove, put in the gas, get materials for the pan; i.e. things that are a few steps more complex than I expect from any adventure game, but are still welcome nonetheless. The music is amazing, the art is generally pretty good. Sometimes, the game uses 3D, and it works generally well. When the game uses motion tweens, then it looks pretty cheap. The writing's clearly suffering from mistranslations, although they're not as bad as they could have been, and the voice acting is sadly, with American accents. For Russians, living in Russia. People in Russia may be bi- a lot of things, but bilingual, they are not. What is a nice touch though, is that most of the Russian text is translated to English when you hover over it, and what isn't is still accurate nonetheless. Artistically, it's colourful, but it nails the decrepit post-Soviet environments perfectly, and I enjoyed it. Same with the plot, it didn't feel needlessly contrived at any point, until... The story has what I thought would have been a great ending, but then it hits you with the biggest cliche imaginable. I don't know why, either, this game would have been perfect if it didn't do it, and you can probably guess what the ending is just by reading the review. It's like calling a villain "The Evil One", it's that kind of bad. It wasn't even that obvious either, it just came out of left field and honestly, I thought it was going to go the way I was really hoping it would have. Use your imagination instead when you hit that point. The game overall is really short, I recorded my entire playthrough and it was only two and a half hours long. Oh yeah, and this game is in 4:3. I don't know WHY, but it is. The game's fullscreen breaks the illusion if you're on an aspect ratio wider than 16:9, so set your resolution to 1920x1080 or something like that if you're on an ultrawide.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different type of game I rarely write reviews but wanted to for this one. I used an expiring free coupon for this thinking that it would be a throw away game for some rainy day but the more I got into it, the better I liked it. It is certainly different than the standard fare offered at Big Fish and I found it to be quite atmospheric, moody and somewhat spooky. I normally don’t use game music as I find it distracting but the music helps build the mood for this one. I wish I could hear the Russian version instead of the English voice translators because it would further enhance the experience for me but I see no language option in the set up. I recommend this if you are looking for something that is a little bit out of the ordinary.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a breath of fresh air!!! Finally a game that doesn't start with a demon/madman pulling a child/woman/man into a house and vines growing up to cover the door!!!!! Also, the graphics are realistic looking instead of splattered with bright green, orange and purple. As others have said, it is retro in style and gameplay, but that's what makes it so great. It also teaches you about life in the Soviet Union (love how you can place the cursor on a Russian word and it translates to English). Hidden objects are unique and fun to play. I haven't purchased many games in the past 5 years because they've become so cookie-cutter. Hope we get more like this!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A fun and different Hidden Object Game!! I was shying away from Hidden Object games, as they were getting boring and the same ole same ole. I don't need to give a long explanation of the gameplay. You do find hidden objects, but the developer has made it more interesting, which allows you to keep your interest. I agree with all the other comments, and it was a definitive buy for me. I highly recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVING THIS A sleeper adventure ...with interactive and really fun hogs. I have only played about half an hour but love this game. It has amazing background information about past and present day Russia as well as a challenging and fun adventure. OK sure it's not the glitzy graphics that people seem to need but WOW it is worth checking out if you an use your head and enjoy some history whilst playing the game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally! An Adult Theme, Good Story Your Natasha is missing, you arrive in the USSR to find her. It won't be easy. I predict danger ahead! Deja Vu is so different from our usual games. I played demo in Casual Mode, still not so ez-pz. Exceptional graphics, color, sound, excellent music. There is a good journal, a very simple map that looked like it would not be helpful but I may be wrong, didn't try to use it. The map was created by gluing its pieces together after found in hidden object scene. HOGs were complex, some items quite small, loved the challenge. Great puzzles. Achievements, 30 collectible Russian dolls, extra hints available, 10 sec hint and skip in Casual. The voices/accents were awful, IMO. In your search for Natasha, the choices you make will either help or threaten your chances of reuniting with her. Good tutorial, basic options and settings. It being 4am all of a sudden, had to call it quits with 15 min left. The demo was really fun, accomplished most tasks without much frustration, lots to do. The game ran smoothly on my PC, except for some brief sound stuttering in the beginning. I really appreciate the different storyline and that the game presented a satisfying challenge for a change. It also included interesting facts and some historical events pertaining to the USSR of yesteryear. Overall, I felt Deja Vu was very entertaining and interesting based on the demo. So much so, that I purchased right away. I think it may be a long game. I am so happy that it is a quality SE that gives us some extra content without the hefty price tag. My opinions may not agree with others, so the demo is always handy-dandy when something different comes along. For what I like in a game, I think this one was a good choice. I do hope Big Fish will bring us more games that aren't steeped in evil, demons, over-done fantasies and under-done CEs. I also think we need stand-alone SEs with quality content and good stories that make sense. Who can afford CEs every time? I sure can't!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great Adventure Game! I had SO much fun playing this game. I bought it within a few minutes into the demo, and was not disappointed - not by any means. Kudos to Penmom for telling it best. I love everything about this game, and found the cartoon recap and chapter preview, drawn a la Superman et.al. genre, running down each side of the game window was a TERRIFIC idea. The Current Favorite button isn't working tonight, so I'll plug my recommendation here: Any of the Fear for Sale collection. Whether you play the Standard Edition (SE) or the Collectors Edition (CE) you will experience great game play with a high replay value.
