Modern Art 4 is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just like the rest You can open up the whole set of pictures by playing the last one on each page. To make this game harder, slide the lower color bar all the way to the right to make the highlights white. To make it easier, change the color to a one that is totally different from the color palette of the picture. For darker pictures choose a bright, light color. For lighter pictures choose a darker color. Suggestion for the devs: One thing that would make this game stand above all the rest is to not require the payer hold down the mouse button to color the picture. Another game I play has similar mini games as the Modern Art series and they do not require the mouse button to be depressed to color the picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Paint, Paint, Paint. What A Stress Reliever! I "paint" a lot since there is such a shortage of other entertaining games on BFG. Thank goodness the new editions of color games are arriving on a more regular basis. I rely on them for nice, easy fun when I tire of my HOPAs. A great way to wind down! I love Modern Art and currently I'm enjoying Number 3. The art is quite intricate in most of the images. I love the different textures. It is gratifying to see the pictures take form and emerge from all the dark colors. Sometimes I'm surprised at what appears as the pieces are completed, some things are so well blended that they can't be distinguished until most of the colors are applied. However, I'm not thrilled about all the very dark colors used so often. They are just a big mass of shadow that isn't too appealing to me. And then the magic happens! Something beautiful has come out of the darkness, the result is outstanding. And, yes, I'm rethinking the inky colors because now I see how they work. The 64 images are full of itsy-bitsy segments. Some are so well hidden that the super challenge becomes an added bonus for me. But, alas, I do rely on the Hint Button for help, lest I become too frustrated. Many of the images are super intricate and quite exquisite in detail. Plenty of shading and depth to make them really stand out. They are actually quick to paint by sweeping your cursor over the shaded areas. I use this technique if the pictures are super full of teeny pieces. The color palette is vast but it needs more bright, peppy colors and pastels. I like changing background color with the slider bar. It works to my advantage in finding hard to spot segments by adjusting the lightness of the shaded areas in the image. I wish there was an indicator that shows number of pieces for each color and how many remain to be found. My few complaints are (1) The completed picture leaves in a flash, reduced to a much smaller scale. I can't view it at my leisure nor in full size. (2) Some of these images would make stellar wallpapers but there is no download option. (3) I do wish they would broaden the variety of subject matter. There are too many tree-filled landscapes, too much food. Not enough animals, birds, people, flowers. How about some gorgeous sea life? With Modern Art, it isn't so bad having to complete the entire first level before moving on to the next. The images are usually very nice, except for 1 or 2 simple ones but I want the freedom of choosing what to paint. However, more importantly, I want to see what's ahead, to help me decide whether or not to purchase. Yes, I usually opt to buy Modern Art but I feel it's unfair to hide the game until we've plunked down the $$. It's not a good feeling and in my opinion it's rather deceitful. In any case, I recommend Modern Art for its quality images, wide range of colors, intricate artwork and many hours of painting delight. It works wonders to relieve stress, satisfy the artist within, bring a nice feeling of satisfaction in the end. All without leaving the comfort of your chair or bed and no messy clean-up. I hope more Modern Art is on the way at a quicker pace. Each will have a place in my color by number collection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most meditative game I've ever played I really love this game, the music is quite soothing if you turn down the volume and it keeps your hands occupied enough to let your thoughts wander freely. Definitly a game I'll play again, and again, and...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from better than the pixel art coloring lots of levels and the coloring is better in modern art pages. you don't have to be so precise in them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NOTHING TO GET EXCITED ABOUT!!! The only difference between Modern Art 1-3, and this version as well, is simply the pictures. Everything else is the same. The MAJOR difference between Big Fish's Paint by Numbers and the Modern Art games, is that Modern Art provides you with different TEXTURES in all of their pictures. Textures can add something different to every painting. If you took two identical pictures but used two completely different textures, you could tell the difference. Another positive thing about MA is that the colors seem brighter and distinctly clearer. A negative thing is that you STILL have to complete the first set of pictures BEFORE you can move on to the next set of pages, which is a negative for me. I never could figure out the developer's reason for this because it should be up to us to decide what pictures we want to paint first. If you are building up a COLLECTION of MODERN ART versions (like me), then just remember that you'll get different pictures, but not much else.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from On Second Thought... I tried this game the day it came out. There were larger than usual pics to color on the first level, which of course took more time to do. I tried to finish the first level so I could check out the pics on the next one but I didn't quite make it. So I decided not to buy it. No pigs in a poke for me. Then this eve I checked again, saw the sale, and decided to read the comments. I saw where someone said if you finish the last pics it opens the levels. Hmmm. That changed my mind, and I wanted to see if it worked. I own the Modern Art 2 and it didn't work on that one. So seeing the sale I bought it. Went directly to the last pic, colored it, and sure enough, it works. Thank you, 'I forget your name', for the heads up. I hadn't planned on buying any more of Modern Art because you had to color pics you disliked just to get to the next level. Why? Why do the developers do that??. It makes one wonder if they don't want us to be able to see all the pics. This one, # 4, has some really nice pictures, but so many not so good ones. Of course it's a matter of personal taste, so now I'm glad I get to see all the pictures. The textures in the colors are very cool. I'd like to see bright scenery and more with people in them. People doing things. Wish I had the job of choosing pics to color. lol I just gave this one three stars because there's more uninteresting pictures than I like to color. However, I enjoy these different color by #'s. Very relaxing, and enjoyable to see the finished colorings. I do have one other thing to say, and that is I wish the finished pictures stayed on the screen longer so I could see the larger finished one longer. I leave a tiny spot to color just so I can view the finished pic to look at it longer, before I fill the spot in.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from More brighter colors I love MA but I really do wish you would use brighter colors and get different pictures. More people, animals birds, etc. It would be more fun if you would have a couple of challenging ones.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from STILL BROKEN AFTER ALL THESE YEARS I loved Modern Art 1 & 2 but since then these games don't work on my PC which btw is a problem I've had with their Pixel Art games since the beginning. The screen is off-centered and so large I can't even get to the options tab to select windowed mode. I've seen several complaints on the web about this same issue and it only seems to be games by this developer that I have an incompatibility issue. The Mac versions usually work fine but the last two games released don't have a Mac version! Fix the incompatibility issue so that everyone can enjoy these games, please. There are 64 images available but you are still forced to finish the first level before moving on to the next. I still don't understand this concept, why do I have to finish one level before proceeding? I'm sure everyone would like the ability to pick and choose from any level! Each area has a number and you simply chose the corresponding color bubble from the palette (also numbered) on the right side. There is a Slider Bar that allows you to zoom in & out (there's a "fit" tab as well) you can also move the entire page around by right-clicking and dragging. Hopefully, the developer will one day decide to address the PC compatibility issue, till then won't you join us at my new forum at thewoodsforum.boards.net ?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THE WORST 1 OF THE 4 Like I've been saying, if you don't like brown, black, gray & green this game is a waste of money. I downloaded the trial to see if they corrected the complaints. As it is, No They Didn't! After playing the 1st 8 pics I looked at the colors for the remaining pics. Out of 64 pics 9 are not the fore mentioned colors. Out of those 9, 7 are blue, 1 is purple and 1 is a combination of many colors. With so many Paint By Number Games with very colorful pics, I'm not buying this one. You shouldn't either.
