Mystery Case Files: Incident at Pendle Tower is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Roaring 20s Based on completed game. Here's what I like: great roaring 20s setting with spooky, decadent splendor. Reasonable plot with human foibles rather than demonic evil. Sympathetic characters. Will probably replay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First game in a long while that was worth purchasing! Is this a MCF game I don't know, but what I do know is, this is the first game in a very long while I found worthy of purchasing. I enjoyed it very much! The graphics were wonderful, the atmosphere a bit spooky but nothing really scary or creepy unlike the negative reviews below would suggest. I've seen and played way spookier. The hidden objects were fun and interactive, the music was perfect for the scenes you're in and the mini games were tough enough to not be boring but not so tough that I had to skip them. All and all I had a terrific time playing this game I only wish it were a little bit longer. Great job Elephant games!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Where is the SE Blog Walkthrough Guide (WTG)? It's missing from the game's main page... BASED ON COMPLETED DEMO ONLY I was really hard on the first MCF this DEV created (Harbinger). The second one, Crossfire, was better and this game was best of the 3 MCF by Grandma. I really liked the story of Pendle Tower and I was interested to keep playing to the end of the demo. I thought the special effects were really good too. The only thing I didn't like much was the graphics. I prefer CG graphics that are crisp because on a large monitor the graphics to this game spread out and are not as defined as the first few games in the MCF series starting with Dire Grove. Even if they added a 1080 x 19whatever feature to fix that it would be better or if they used real photos to save time (like Vacation Adventures), I think it would be more realistic and atmospheric which this series requires. I’m surprised they don’t use real pictures and a camera filter but obviously I’m no pro at how these games are made; I only know what I like. I may buy the SE to this game with a free game code but only if BFG puts the Blog Walkthrough guide link back on the game page for the SEs. It's not fair to paying members that they have removed it from the new SEs releasing now to force us into buying the CEs, I assume, which have a built in walkthrough guide. It’s not fair to the DEV either because I’m sure there are other members who notice this and may not buy the game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from GIVE IT A CHANCE, IT'S NOT A DIRE GROVE KIND OF MCF BUT IT'S REALLY GOOD I was very critical of the last two MCF games because they abandoned everything that made MCF the holy grail of HOPA games. They obviously thought long and hard about what went wrong and chose to go back to the drawing board and try harder...and the effort they put forth in creating Pendle Tower couldn't be more obvious to me! They abolished the cutsie graphics, washed out the color palette (just enough), and created a plot that was interesting enough to make you want to continue. The tasks have vastly improved and almost everything requires fidgeting with mechanically. My only complaint here is that there aren't enough active zones per scene, BUT it was really nice to have to think about tasks for once, absolutely not cookie-cutter, and I can't help thinking how "out of their comfort zone" this developer must have been. I'm not going to lie, HOPAs bore me lately, it's always the same tasks, the same games, the same features, HOs that a two-year-old could solve, the same collectibles, basically a carbon copy from game to game. I simply did not feel bored playing this game and I even enjoyed the HO scenes (particularly the Morphing scene that switched between past and present) I usually hate gadgety features but I enjoyed the Riddle Blueprint puzzles, and the mini-games are my favorite kind, a mechanical type that requires thinking a couple of steps ahead to solve them, or requires tinkering with gauges, gears, levers, etc. Granny did a fantastic job with the Rube Goldberg puzzles, they still need to be more of a cause & effect, chain-reaction type of puzzle but if Granny improved this much in one year then I can't imagine how far they'll fly with it next year! I'm not saying this game compares to a Dire Grove or Ravenhearst original, I've lost hope that BF will ever allow these developers to create what they know in their hearts is what we the customers want. They seem to tie their hands behind their backs and expect them to create masterpieces on a ridiculous budget with G-rated themes...but for now, this "incident" was starting point...well done Grandma :) Won't you join us at my new forum thewoodsforum.boards.net

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not all that glitters is gold I enjoyed the original MCF games. But when they got too complicated, the fun was over. There is enough frustration in life, let's just have fun. I like the Vacation Park Ranger games. These have very few blockades to frustrate me. I really appreciate the no brainer fun in them. I play for relaxation, not blood. If that makes me wimpy, so be it. Let's have fun, this game is more like the originals. I do have to use the hint button constantly and would prefer more HO events. But it is fun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not good enough for the MCF series I may have given 4 stars if this was not MCF but give it 3 stars because it was. Fans of the series probably understand. The game keeps you interested with fresh art and ideas. But I am playing as a Master Detective and expect a level of challenge that just was not there.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the MCF I knew and loved I have purchased every MCF game for years now. This was the least challenging game they have made so far. The puzzles and hidden object scenes were made for an 8 year old. Very disappointing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from What happened to MCF The latest installment of MCF games have been horrible. I used to look forward to new MCF games when they were announced but they have been so disappointing and so far from the original style that I will never again buy another one but will rather just replay Ravenhearst, Dire grove, etc. when they had substance. And btw don't even bother to play the bonus game. It was five minutes long...what a shame!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from bORING Why are all your games full of monsters and apparitions, why not any more like the Agatha Christi o Hercule Poirot, those were worth while games, but your new games make no sense
