Dark Tales: Edgar Allan Poe's The Premature Burial Collector's Edition is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 1st Dark Tales Game!!!! Premature Burial got me hooked on Dark Tales games, this is an excellent game. The plot reminds me of actual cases on the true crime channels with the "speedy burial" of a loved one. The old style graphics and music fits the time period perfectly. I enjoyed the HOS' and puzzles and one can actually see the mystery unfolding as you play unlike a lot of games. This is a must-have game!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Typical solid entry from ERS I have played just about all of the games in the Dark Tales series and this game is typically solid. If you like the other games you'll like this one. Its not outstanding nor bad in any category. Graphics are hand drawn and undetailed but do the job. Music is rehashed from other games in the series and is fine. The plot is typically only very loosely adapted from Poe's story. Dupin once again plays the role of Captain obvious, saying the most pointless things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An excellent classic game To day is 11/02/2015 and this game was made in 2011.I thought to find a good game from previous years because I can'tfind any more games that I like. Everything had changed since:Return of Ravenhearst,Dire grove,Dracula Origin and a lot of nice games from the past This game has a very pleasant music, a sweet love story,a dark and creepy atmosphere and perfect puzzles( I skipped 2-3 as I wasvery impatient to move to the next scenes. You had to do a lot of different things,to think what to do,and where to go,Hos were very good and clever sometimes. So if you hadn't played that game buy it and you will enjoy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Great HOS Game! Dupin has done it again! This case is incredibly intriguing, and I always forget that the cases are based on actual Edgar Allen Poe stories. At the very beginning of the game I had worried that darling Dupin had a different voice-- but never to fear, the beautiful detective is still the same charming man he is. (ahem) The game itself is really great. I always love the interface and style of this game series. While this one I felt was a little less intricate than past games, I do still enjoy it. I always wish there was the alternate "puzzle mode" for HOS like in House of Usher, since I do love those kinds of puzzles. Overall, this is a great game with a simple yet lovely gameplay. c:

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I started in the middle. While this is actually the third game in the Dark Tales series from ERS, it was the one that introduced me to the series. I had the great fortune to be one of the beta testers for this game, and I was so disappointed when my trial ran out that I was absolutely determined to buy the game when it was released! The idea of being buried alive terrifies me, as it would terrify pretty much any sane person. So to have a game where you confront that very fear is really spellbinding. Unlike its two predecessors, this Dark Tale (and all those that come after) includes voice acting for Detective Dupin and the other NPCs you meet. Dupin has a NICE voice! The graphics are beautiful, the settings seem real despite being animated, and the mystery demands that you stick with it to the very end. The bonus chapter only makes everything that much more disturbing too. Definitely worthwhile!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An improvement! I love the SE so I also bought the CE. There's a lot of improvements in this game, from the voice overs, less HOG and more adventure. However, the hint is still not available during gameplay, except the HOG scenes. And the skip button is super slow although I played it in casual. The bonus chapter is fine, but I think it should be given more time to reveal everything. I played the bonus chapter for about 40 minutes. The rose collection is great, they didnt tell what it's for until the very end but it's fine. The SG helps a lot in finding the roses or I have to go through the scenes again one by one. Anyway, a great game. Cant wait to play Gold Bug.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Suspenseful I enjoyed it a little more than the first one simply because it was a longer and more challenging game. I recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best game I've played in a couple of years! I love this game. My favorite is Macabre Tales: Curse of the Nightingale because of the visuals, plot and fun factor but now it's tied with this game. The plot was excellent and fairly new to me. I loved the cut scenes and voiceovers- very well made and easily understood. The mini games were very inventive and easy to understand even of the hard level. I'm personally not a fan of HO games but there weren't many in this one and the game lasted hours. Will revisit the game and play it again in future!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fun! Throughly enjoyed this one! Lots of great puzzles and HOS. The story line was good, and the extra playing was great. Graphics were very good. The HOS were challenging.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Story I really enjoyed the game it had a great storyline and I enjoyed how the Detective made you part of the game. The music and visuals were great althought the HOS could have been better. I don't like having to randome click or use hints because the items are mislabeled in HOS scenes and there was plenty of that here. The CE kept you just as busy and was enjoyable but it did not add to the story enough to make you miss anything if you had not purchased it. In fact I didn't really like the storyline enough so I was bummed I payed extra for it.
