Customer Reviews
Inspector Magnusson: Murder on the Titanic is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 53.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good plot and surprising twist of the legend! I am disappointed by some reviews for this game as I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mystery plot is loosely based on some facts of White Star Line at the time and its revelation (here) is audacious and a bit shocking. You are included in this tale and after the ship strikes its iceberg, the 1912 alarm keeps sounding as the need to get yourself into a lifeboat increases. WoW! (I hope I have not revealed too much but I suspect anyone reading this knows about that iceberg, no?) Anyway, the artwork is excellent, the Palm Court restaurant (and many other venues) give you an idea of how lovely the decor must have been. Sound effects and music are fine; the puzzles are good (and many can be skipped). It's not a complex game and you're always shown which part of the ship to progress to next---so that you don't wander about aimlessly. My one complaint is that there is/was no guide or walkthrough as I really wanted to see the storyline through: but as luck would have it, the only time I was stumped was the five nautical symbols that needed to be placed in a row and I DID find help for this by typing the game name in google. I was so grateful to be able to continue and everything else in the game worked well for me. Note: Although this is possibly a 4-star game, I'm giving it five just to raise the overall ratings which I think is "fairer" for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprises galore! This game has a fascinating storyline with some great surprises. The music is great and the graphics are clear and attractive. As a bonus, all settings can be downloaded for wallpaper. There are lots and lots of HO scenes, some containing quaint, old-fashioned items. This is a very enjoyable, long-lasting game – worth buying.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent game,a sad part of history. I really enjoyed this game. There was a lot of mystery to the storyline. The graphics were very good and clear and i found the music quite haunting and sad.I didn't give it 5 stars for fun factor .It is sad if anyone dies at sea,and i liked the game because it gives you a chance to participate in a very tragic time in maritime history. I have read lots of stuff on the Titanic and i liked the scenes, they were very realistic. Great game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great HO Fun I'm a fan of the Titanic, and a HO fan, so this game really worked for me. The game is very light adventure with quite a lot of hidden object play, framed around the investigation of a murder on the Titanic. The art is very high quality, and fit the opulence of the ship perfectly. While there is a fair amount to do around the hidden object scenes, they are the real focus of the game. The scenes and objects are very well done, and even the occasional small object was clear enough for me to identify it. The hint allows you to select the object you want pointed out, which I greatly prefer to a random choice. There is no timer or click penalty, so I just relaxed and enjoyed exploring each scene. I particularly liked the fact that the objects mostly fit the scene and theme of a location, so it isn't just a jumble of random objects. I haven't repeated any scenes yet, and There have been some interesting twists on the standard list (I liked having to organize the tools...I may be a bit OCD) There is a lot of dialogue in the game, as the mystery unfolds. I enjoyed reading through it, but it can be clicked through if you just want to get back into the action. The journal stores critical details on the story, so you won't end up lost. The puzzles were pretty straightforward, and most were at least familiar. I didn't encounter any I needed to skip, and all of them were worked into the story so they didn't seem random or arbitrary. I also quite liked the music...it fit the setting well, and had a good ominous mood to it. If you want a good, old school hidden object game with a very cool setting/story, then I think this is the one for you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyable and an interesting take on the Titanic tragedy This game was a lot of fun. I enjoy a story along with my gameplay, one that's not contrived or convuluted as some have been lately. This story held my interest a lot and the hidden object scenes and puzzles were nicely done. There was an interesting mix of historical and fictional characters and when the final conspiracy was revealed, I was quite surprised! The artwork is quite breath-taking, and I am currently enjoying the downloadable main menu screen as my desktop background. If you enjoy all things Titanic like me, then this is one you'll want to try. It has a lot more interesting story than the recent Hidden Mysteries: Titanic (although I enjoyed playing that one, too#, fascinating character interactions, and fairly challenging gameplay #but not so much that you're clicking the HINT button at every opportunity). Enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from WAS THE TITANIC SABOTAGED? This game has a storyline that raises questions about why the Titanic hit the iceberg. This is the best part of the game. The HOS are pretty easy and fairly common with only a few having any interactive items. The minigames are repetitive and extremely easy. SPOILER: Don't over think the puzzles; they are really simple and if you look at them for a few minutes before making a move, you can usually solve them with only a few moves and very quickly. The only bonus item is screensavers. This is a very plain SE game with few bells and whistles, although it does have a journal and a jump map which shows the active areas by having only those areas available to jump to. A nice touch was a little icon at the upper right of a location when everything had been completed there. There are a lot of HOS, which makes it a nice game for HOG lovers, although many will probably find it too easy. It is not very long, but, again, the storyline was extremely well done and kept me guessing until the end.
