Customer Reviews
Jane Austen's: Estate of Affairs is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game for Jane Austen Fans I love Jane Austen and tend to buy any game related to her books. I especially enjoyed the storyline to this game. I thought the game was pretty easy to follow. I could usually figure out where to go. But if I had a problem the hints worked well. There are several types of hidden objects scenes, There is the standard finding objects based on name; then finding the matching shape for an object; and lastly finding random shapes. The mini games included some that I had not played before, which is always a plus. There were a nice variety of these games. Most were not too difficult although I think I ended up skipping one. I also liked being able to find 5 of Jane Austen's novels as I was playing the game and enjoyed the mini game that matched the various novels with a character name and picture. The cut scenes definitely help tell the story. Since I often play games while my husband is sleeping, I play without the sound and just read what is happening as opposed to listening to it. I appreciate having that option. I completed the game in about 2.5 hours, which means it's a fairly short game. I look forward to playing it again soon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pray, do not scoff at this one! This is a lovely game to get lost in. Pros: - Beautiful scenery. - Appropriate music and characters. - Interesting adventures and little challenges. - Engaging for those who love this period. - No evil, scary, or wicked storylines. - I love any historical game, especially one involving an old mansion or garden. - BBC involvement. Cons: - For me, installation was a major issue until I figured it out on the third attempt (I hadn't downloaded the game installer/manager files properly). - Some scenes are a little too dark to see the hidden objects. - Too short. - The game is mostly quite easy. There are some challenging moments, but on the whole, it is relaxing and not demanding. - For me, at times the English accents sounded more like Americans trying to sound English. I would heartily recommend it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely little game This game took me two nights to complete, short but i really enjoyed it. The artwork and graphics were gorgeous as they didn't try to modernize the look or feel so all together this game held an old feel of mystery. Puzzles were simple, nothing challenging here. Music was beautiful. More a game to play while relaxing quietly on a rainy weekend. I loved it, hope to find another similar.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What's Not to Like? What a cute game! I didn't get bored at all. The mini-games were just right, not too difficult nor too easy. HOGs were doable and there were three different types. I wish other developers would do that instead of presenting the typical junk pile every time. The hint system worked very well. It was almost like having a guide. It told you where to go and even spelled it out if you still didn't get it. The notes helped too. The music went well with the time period and was very pretty. Those green eyes, though, on the man - not something you'd see in nature and a bit startling but he got the girl by the end of the game. Nice and low key. I recommend this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GRAB A CUP OF EARL GREY FOR THIS GAME! I loved this Jane Austen's story the graphics and sound are great! The owls sounds like they are outside my window! Sad they won't let her in to investigate her aunt, but the wooded areas or grounds are so beautiful! I want to put on a sweater (it's cool I bet) to help her find out what happened! I got to get back, played for ten minutes and had to write review. I will buy this game and while playing drink some Earl Grey! Enjoy, you will have fun. Going back to the days Old England! CHEERIO!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SUPERB AND ELEGANT, JANE HERSELF WOULD BE PROUD!!! This is definitely one to play.. Loved the mix-up of the different hidden object scenes. The music was lovely and very fitting to the era. Very enjoyable. Loved the skill required for the mini-games or puzzles. All around a 10 in my book:)))

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Austen Ho! When I originally looked at the trailer with the thought of purchasing this game, I was put off by the cartoon characters. After playing a wonderful game based on Pride and Prejudice, I decided to get this one. What a pleasant surprize! The music is wonderful. The atmosphere is well done with nice graphics as well. The game is simple and short, but at the same quiet pace of Austen novels. The storyline is engaging without all the violence. I would still like the game better if the characters were less cartoonish and more handsome.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from You have to LIKE these kinds of dramas/books to enjoy this game. I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was RELAXING. You know it’s an old game and I wasn’t expecting much, but it has a lovely slow pace that I tend to favor. It’s a HOPA with lots of rooms to visit, HOPS and puzzles. No map, but there aren’t that many places at any one time, because of the chapter division. The indoors is done much better in general. I found the outdoors is a bit lackluster at times, by comparison. I liked the sound effects (always important to me). You have to have the music option set to “on” to be able to hear the voices, but you can read the subtitles too. Also it doesn’t fit the whole screen, but there is a widescreen option. Mine looked better non-widescreen. Graphics aren’t terribly clear all the time for anyone who needs crisp graphics. The game is a fairly decent length, although I didn’t time it. I liked the fact that the time of day changes. Ever played the Shakespeare Romeo and Juliet HOPA? The atmosphere and pace was similar to that. If you’re a BFG member, you could get this at the $3.49 deal time. Don't buy this if you're looking "action-packed" with the latest thrills and spills.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable This wasn't the type of game that most gamers would enjoy - but I did. No ghosts, black smoke, red eyes, demons - well you get the point. It was a relaxing game to play with a wonderful story line.
