Brink of Consciousness: The Lonely Hearts Murders is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from If I could, I would rate this game Six Stars This is my all-time favorite game. I love everything about it: the amazing visuals, the outstanding acting, the well-developed characters, the plot with all its twists and turns. I never get tired of replaying it. I don't feel I could write a review that would do this game justice, and therefore, I refer you to the reviews by TnT_TJ and JustTheFacts which will tell you everything you need to know.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brink of Consciousness: The Lonely Hearts Murders Great squeal, very good storyline, beautiful graphics and heaps to puzzles to keep you going:) I thoroughly enjoyed this game but the talking in it just sometimes went on a little too much, never the less I still loved the mystery and adventure of the game which made me feel like a real detective.. Good work Big Fish:)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptional game! I loved this game! I didn't play this game until early 2015 and it is still better then all the newer high tech games coming out today. The Lonely Hearts Murders is one of those rare hidden-object adventures that feels like it dedicates itself to its plot more than anything else. It's all very Sherlock Holmes meets film noir, with a big emphasis on atmosphere and character interaction, which means you see and speak to a lot more characters, making your investigation feel like... well... an investigation. The character models tend to look best from a distance, but the design as a whole is remarkably well done, from the artwork to the soundtrack. Heck, even the hidden-object scenes are typically easy on the eyes and fun to mess around with. I loved the British accents, but my favorite part was having someone in the game with me, talking to me and helping me with the investigation. Ok, I actually do all the work but it was fun having him with me just the same! . If you're looking for a hidden-object adventure with gorgeous art, creepy intrigue, tons of fully animated and voiced characters and scenes, and the ability to rearrange a woman's shoe closet, do yourself a favor and check out the demo for Brink of Consciousness: The Lonely Hearts Murders you won't regret it!! Highly recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from After 3 years, it is still enjoyable I have just started re-visiting all my games and playing them again. It is surprising how many that I thought were great at the time, seem so dated now (only 3 years on). But this one has retained it's playability (if that is such a word!). I thoroughly enjoyed playing it again and will do so again sometime. For once there is a storyline and an ending. The HOS are basic but good. The puzzles again are basic but a good level of challenge. It's not as technically brilliant as some of the current games but it does what it says on the tin!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game, wish I bought the Collector's Edition Lots to do and puzzles not so difficult I want to skip them. There are a few too many cut scenes that you have to listen to for clues of what to do next but all in all a most enjoyable game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Very Different Game. Wow, I can't believe I've only heard of this game today. After playing the demo I just had to have it. That was this morning and I've just completed it in the casual mode. This game is very different in that there is an enormous amount of dialogue, but I loved that part the best. All the back stories, the lies, the searching, the interviews -- I could go on and on. I've never played a game where the story was told with some much dialogue, which I could have skipped but I just loved it. It has a map, but I didn't find it very useful as it doesn't transport you to where you want to go, so I stopped using it early on. I didn't even mind the music, which I usually turn off, but this was kind of dreamy and relaxing. I thought the visual was excellent. This is a very easy game, so a beginner would not find it challenging. It sure did get a lot of 5-star reviews from expert players who probably played in the most difficult. I never play in the difficult mode as my attention is easily swayed so I'm sure I would not like the game as much. It's a great story of love, suspense, a real who-done-it! This is probably not suitable for children as there is some swearing now and again. It didn't bother me one bit, after all these are very passionate men and women. There are not too many HOS and the same scene is visited twice. However there are some nice twists in some of them. Otherwise they are list type with a bunch of junk, albeit pretty junk. The hint button recharges fairly quickly. There are a lot of great puzzles. Some a little different from the usual. I think I only skipped a couple as they were pretty easy. There is a great walk through if you get stuck, which I did in a couple of the puzzles, but the walk through got me back on track in no time. The hint button is directional outside of the HOS or zooms in to the object if it's in the scene. I love directional hints and use them a lot to make sure I've cleared the current room and to guide me if I get a bit lost (I step away from game play a lot). I had so much fun playing this game and am going to try the other Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray next. Play the demo and read some reviews. I hope you read mine and it's helpful. Good gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is about as good as it gets. Fabulous! I liked the first Brink of Consciousness (Dorian Gray), but this one is even better. Visuals, sound, voiceovers, character movement--it's all top notch. The puzzles aren't very hard, but there were a couple that were new to me, so they were still interesting. For me, the story is the driving force behind a game. Without a good one, no matter how pretty, it just doesn't get it. This one has an excellent story, complete with plot twists and a satisfying ending. I can't wait for the next one! The hidden object scenes were unique and entertaining in themselves--and this from a die-hard adventure gamer! The squeaky mouse cracked me right up. They are interactive, and done with a twist here and there that was very fun. This developer is extremely talented. My hat's off to you! More, more!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An absolute gem! (based on demo) This game has gone straight to the top of my wishlist. I was absolutely blown away by the level of detail in the graphics and the voice over - during the intro the ink actually follows the quill, and the vox artists are actually acting rather than just reading lines. There's humour and drama. It's almost like an interactive movie - and there is an intriguing storyline to follow too which really kept my interest. I was surprised to note some anachronisms though - the setting appears to be similar to late Victorian England - quill pens, gas lanterns etc. - yet an early puzzle has you obtaining a canned drink from a period-setting vending machine! The demo finishes before the full hour (if you play it quickly or skip puzzles), but it promises much more. I usually go for CE versions where they are available and I will with this one as I want the fullest experience of this most impressive game.
