Tales From The Dragon Mountain 2: The Lair is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 44.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from LORD STRIX, YOU COWARD REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME You play Mina Lockheart and, along with your friend Malika, you are off on an adventure to defeat Lord Strix. This is another gem by Cateia. I played 'Myths of Orion - Light from the North' earlier and really enjoyed it, so I grabbed this game as well. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual, Adventure and Challenge modes of play; * 12 Achievements; * Diary; * Find 6 Bronze, 12 Silver and 20 Golden Dragons. The graphics are good - colourful and sort of cartoony but very clear to see around and to grab items you need. I loved rambling around the scenes finding all the items needed. Sound is good and the music is orchestral and plays quietly in the background. This time there are no hidden object games to play - this is a purely adventure game - BUT SO MUCH FUN. There are huge variety of mini-games to play. Most are pretty easy, but there are a few that take a while to conquer. What I thought was going to be an easy mini-game turned out to be longer than I thought. There are lots of rotating tiles, potions to find and make and getting things in the right order. I played them all and really enjoyed them. There is no map in this game, so you will need to rely on your memory. Its quite a long game with three portals to travel through, so there is a bit of traipsing around through the portals, but its not hard to remember where tasks are to do. I got 11 of the achievements. You get an achievement if you play on Adventure and one if you play on Challenge, but not both - its one or the other. Finding the 6 Bronze, 12 Silver and 20 Golden Dragons are easy - they are not hidden and you just collect them on the way. All up the game took me about 6 hours to play. I thoroughly enjoyed the game and will be looking for more Cateia games to play. Definitely comes recommended. Happy playing fishies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Adventure - A Must Have Game In Tales From the Dragon Mountain our heroine, Mina Lockheart, is off to do battle once again with her nemesis the evil Lord Strix who she defeated several years ago. During the interval, Mina’s powers have grown stronger so she should be able to defeat Lord Strix once again. After all Mina is the granddaughter of Kate the mountain’s most powerful protector and Mina has inherited her powers. The graphics in Tales From the Dragon Mountain 2 are excellent. I loved having the option at the beginning of the game to select the HD Graphics mode and I almost felt like I was playing the game on my XBOX. Aside from selecting the graphics mode there are three modes for gameplay. There are voiceovers that are very good as is the entire soundtrack for the game. As far as tools go you have a diary that contains sections for notes, how to play the game, achievements and game statistics. I didn’t find a map during the demo so I don’t believe there will be one but it doesn’t seem needed. Next to the inventory area is a circle with footprints and if you click it you will be able to see directional footprints that do provide some help. I don’t see a strategy guide or walkthrough available but don’t let it throw you off from trying the game. Who knows these items may be available soon. At any rate, try the game to see if you can get along without the additional help. Since the game is purely an adventure type game we find and collect the objects we need as we travel around the various locations rather than having to hunt through piles of junk to find them. Although there is an absence of the traditional HOP scenes, we do find some pseudo-FROG scenes that help up put things together as needed. Even though we don’t have the HOP scenes the game abounds with puzzles and mini-games and those are what hold my interest in the HOPA genre and always keep me coming back for more. I for one don’t miss the HOPS since I am often bored by having to search for items in way too many of them in some games. I guess I am more of an adventure gamer at heart. Although the game is not a CE we do have some collectibles to find and achievements to be earned. If we find twenty stone dragons we will unlock additional achievements. When I checked BFG this morning and saw Tales From the Dragon Mountain 2, I thought that it would be a little nothing game thrown in to satisfy HOPA game lovers until the CEs would be released later in the week. However, after checking the game forum and reading what others had to say I decided to give the game a try and I am so happy that I did since it is right up my alley. I somehow missed the first game in the series but did buy another game from this developer, “Where Angels Cry”, that I thought was excellent. I love everything about Tales From the Dragon Mountain and it is a definite buy for me, along with the previous game in the series. As always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DRAGONS TRUMP FAIRIES ANYTIME I do like Fairy games though. This game was challenging, versatile and thought provoking. I usually read the lowest reviews first, and based on those reviews, I try games. This game proved my logic works yet again. This game is for those who enjoy figuring things out and do not like rooting around junk piles looking for an hourglass. Kudos!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Strix Is Back And Breeding An Army Of Trolls Once again Mina Lockhart must defeat the evil Lord Strix and his army of Trolls and serpent dragons! Lord strix has been busy breeding an army of those huge ugly Trolls, and Mina and Malik the Sprite are joined once again to fight this evil. This is a different kind of game with cartoonish type graphics and puzzles galore, this is not a hidden object adventure, if you are looking for that kind of game this isn't for you. However if you enjoy a fantasy based puzzle game then you will absolutely love this game. There are 20 stone dragons to collect and as I said before this game is all about the puzzles, almost one after another such as clicking on the correct symbols of a stone clock by referring to the notes in your journal. There are games of blocks where you have to move blocks of different shapes out of the way to allow the key block to pass through. One of my favorite games was clicking on numbers 1-10, you can only click on the numbers that share the same orbit, row or column of the previous number. This is an easy game, nothing hardcore, if you just want to play a relaxing game with entertaining puzzles and a cute story then you are in for a treat with this game, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HD OPTION – A GAME FOR "ADVENTURE-GAME" PLAYERS – NO HOPS, NO MAP – EASY TO MEDIUM PUZZLES- LOVELY LANDSCAPES- Available at BFG since 2014. Review based on completed game. This is NOT for beginners. You should expect some form of challenge if you play this. The puzzles aren't that difficult, but you have to scan entire scenes. If that's what you're looking for, you'll have fun; if it's not, you won't. This game isn't chaptered and there's no map. You can enjoy roaming the scenes. Mountains, caves, gardens, water in most scenes, a village and volcanic region. STORY - It's you and a pixie. The pixie isn't cutesy or anything. You have to rid this world of some meddling black magician. You'll meet people on the way in a pleasant world to assist you now and again. GRAPHICS - Fits widescreen well. Fullscreen is more of a windowed. I liked the graphics a lot and luckily can use the HD option. You have to actively select it from the options. If you don't have an HD computer, the graphics are less detailed. HOPS - NONE PUZZLES: All skippable. Medium-Easy level. SOUNDS - with 4 adjustments. Pleasant, appropriate and atmospheric. Music is suitable, totally separate, and GREAT! Infact I loved the music! I didn't listen to it non-stop though. At one point it was ethereal synthesizer, and at some other point symphonic orchestra; beautiful and relaxing. MAP: NONE JOURNAL: YES, it stores codes etc for you DIFFICULTY SETTINGS – 3 Interchangeable from options under "gameplay" HINT: Guides and leads. On Difficult, you still get hints, they just take longer to recharge. The great thing is, that with these hints, if you need to, you can use them to get an idea of where you are meant to be, and as long as you don't use it all the way to the final point of discovering what you're meant to do, you can take an educated guess, and your hint is STILL available. INVENTORY – remains visible at all times. CHARACTERS: I liked both the young lady you play as, and the pixie, who doesn't act like a clown (thank goodness). All the character voices were pleasant to listen to. I can't really recall any lip-sync; it wasn't that important to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank you Cateia Games for Great Adventures! Finished Tales From The Dragon Mountain 2: The Lair and thankfully Cateia Games Developers are still one of the few pure adventure game designers that can be enjoyed by HOP, HOPA and Adventure game lovers. Mina must face off again with the evil Strix. Objects to be found and puzzles to be conquered while collecting Dragons and earning Achievements along the way. All this bundled together in a standard version to be enjoyed over and over again. Missed one dragon--nineteen out of twenty. Drat! Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game for puzzle fans Fun game if you love puzzles, which I do. There is no map, but hints direct you to where you need to be. There are not so many different areas that you get confused. Really enjoyed it.
