Dream Hills: Captured Magic is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Rare Gem!! This game is so good. When I mention that I am sick of cookie cutter games and what I want is something great, something different, these are the kind of games I am talking about! This game is 100% unique. It has many things to do and you meet familiar characters that have been given a new look. You meet snow white only she is a curvy black woman and you meet Cinderella who is bald and tattered. You meet captain hook and pirates who are little trouble makers etc I liked it! There are no voiceovers, no map, no custom mode. But you can choose between easy mode and hard mode. Hard mode still has some sparkles over the hidden object scenes but who cares this game is great. The hidden object scenes are basic, just finding objects listed although farther into the game you get the silhouettes & put the item back ones. Put the item back ones were tough! I needed the hint button a lot in those and I never use hints in hidden object scenes. There are a lot of puzzles in this game! I for one, love puzzles so its a puzzle person's dream game. Some are the same old ones but there are a lot of new takes on them and some ones I have never seen. Some are easy peasy, others are challenging. There is a skip button for those of you who don't like puzzles and since there are no achievements! you don't have to worry about skipping them! I loved having just great gameplay and no fluff like achievements and collectibles. There are so many things to do and find in this game. So much inventory to pick up, so many scenes that overlap and that you need to come back to. The entire game is like a big circle which won't make sense until you play it but it was just so amazing in every way. You have a task list, a diary that has helpful ideas and a history of the palace. You also have 4 abilities that you get along the way and what a long way you have to go! This game took me roughly 5 hours plus to play. I played it in a few days time although I would have gladly played it all in one day if I had had the time to. I looked forward to playing it again which rarely happens these days. This game is what I consider special. These games don't appear very often but when they do, I jump for joy. They are rare and usually underrated. A lot of people always skip these games because they are not shiny like collector's editions but these are the games that I long for. These are the games that keep me a fan of this genre. I choose a game like this over the developers we see all the time. I want more of this kind big fish. They are quirky, offbeat and just my style. There are a few other games like this that I recommend. A Gypsy Tale (I think that's what its called) which came out forever ago but is still a gem. The Amulet Of Dreams is another game that just swept me away. The Fool is a oldie but goodie and I am sure there are many more that I just haven't stumbled across yet. Try this then buy this, you will not be disappointed! Now I have to go and dig through my unplayed games and see if I can find something to play that will keep my interest as much as this one. Kudos Devs! Please do another one!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a charming delight! This game is a perfect example of what a great game can be without all the frills. No map, no collectibles, no morphs, no interactive HOS. BUT, it has charm, humor, ease of navigation, graphics that perfectly fit the story, and on top of that it is a long game. The hint button works very well, the puzzles are varied and interesting, and the characters!! Oh my! I found the characters to be delightful and very funny. A great family game, and that means adults will enjoy it too. Thanks for this game and please give us more like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Charming fairytale & developers did "Capture Magic" Dream Hills: Captured Magic is a charming new addition [albeit a 'soft release' and very family friendly]. I even plan to buy with a coupon code and play it myself on a lackluster day when I need a little peaceful reprieve from demanding graphics and gameplay. Speaking of graphics, they are well-rounded and vivid sketchy scenes... easy on the eyes [as a fairy tale game should be]. The H0G's [at least in the demo] were a little too well blended for my liking, yet since this is probably geared toward a younger crowd, that shouldn't be a problem [or one can simply adjust resolution on pc]. The environmental background sound is pleasant and cheerful.... I found playing this game a welcome hiatus from the ombre moods so prevalent in many games offered these days... it's like like a breath of fresh air [and many of us need that sometime or another no matter our age!?]. Though I enjoy all themes of gaming, it would be nice to see more of these lighter, cheery games offered us, perhaps with just a dash more adult appeal. Thanks BFG & Dev (PopCap). Enjoy. : )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cute Adventure This was a fun game. Full of adventure. It wasn't too hard, and the hint button works great to give you clues to the next place to go. Without that I would have been stuck. Most people have mentioned this is a kids game. It could be if it weren't for the fact that Snow White is a Black Dominatrix. That one character just doesn't fit and I wish they had used a different model. How do you explain to kids that the woman in a black bustier with a whip is really Snow White? Other than this the game is fun, there are so many puzzles and pieces to put together and so many great places to visit and gather items. Find them in hidden object scenes. Return items. Paint a picture, file off teeth, make a mold, give life to the gingerbread man, make bread dough, grow magic flowers, find the prince statue, free the dwarfs, open the safe, play the cup game with cheating pirates. The list is endless! The puzzles weren't overly hard and can be skipped. The hint is awesome, it lets you know where to go and what to do. The journal also keeps track of tasks (and history). The graphics are wonderful, the game flow is logical, the music is background and not obtrusive. I truly enjoyed playing this game. It's a light hearted adventure to get your magic wand back from the evil witch who stole it from you. All of the fairy tale critters helped to hide it and were punished, so each step you free them while they lead you on a merry chase to find your wand and destroy the evil witch!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a cool surprise! I tried this game because I had gotten so tired of all the dark games of late. I thought it might be childish, but was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed playing it. I laughed out loud (really!) at some of the characters. It was just a fun game. The HO's were cleverly placed and fairly easy to find. The puzzles started out quite simple but became fairly challenging toward the end of the game. I didn't like the music so much, but loved the graphics. Love this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not just for the children After getting the impression it was one for the children - the more I got into it, surprisingly the challenge was there. I played the Beginner mode and the hints were helpful not just for finding an object but for navigational assistance. The puzzles were different and could be skipped after about 30secs. Alot of "handholding" if you need it and the Magic Book pretty much guides you along the way which helps because there isn't a map or a Walkthrough. Only negative I can add is that some of the objects were impossible to find and even after selecting the hint button I still thought it was somewhat obscure. If you want something extremely compelling and challenging. then this game's not for you. Any game that's not dark and sinister is for me. Basically a cute, fun relaxing holiday game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fairy Tale Adventure For The Whole Family! At first I thought this was going to be a boring game for kids, turns out it's actually kind of fun! This game is chock full of fun characters like Captain Hook, The Fairy Godmother, Peter Pan and more! The graphics are beautiful and colorful and there is plenty to do in each scene. The HOS are mostly list finds but also find 10 items of this or that. Lot's of clever mini games, simple enough for kids and fun enough for adults. The one I enjoyed the most was using colored thread to embroider a rug with several pictures to match with the thread. If you just want to chillax and play a fun game then give this one a try, you might be surprised as well, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really liked it! I bought and played completely the first day! I tried the demo & got hooked, Really cute playful storyline. I am so tired of the dark & eerie HO games. Was great to have one I could enjoy. I don't do too many reviews but had to say something good about this one. Wish Big Fish had more of this kind. There were times I wish I had a walkthrough, but I eventually figured it out. Since this doesn't release until tomorrow there was no help anywhere but if I can figure it out anyone can. LOL I recommend this game for those who liked the lighthearted slight humor in a HOG. If you like the HOG where you go from one person/item to another to find items you'll like it, but if you don't....well then you won't. LOL My suggestion, is to try it, it's a free demo hour, and enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A pleasant surprise I downloaded the trial and before I knew it my time ran out. As it so happened I had a couple of free game coupons and bought it so I could continue playing. A really good game. I am not the expert player and when too hard I have to keep referring to walkthrough to continue. This one is easier, but with still some challenge. Great value for a standard edition game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't save my demo progress! Be warned! Otherwise, great game! As you can see from the title, I had only one gripe - my hours worth of progress when trying the demo was completely erased when the demo hour was up and it shut down the game. The game itself is great. Whimsical, charming storyline, music and graphics. It's better looking than the preview screens make it appear. Definitely worth a try - but be sure to SAVE YOUR GAME!!! >.<
