The Last Dream is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 67.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I enjoyed this! I must admit I bought this almost as a "filler" game, something to do until I found one that really excited me. But I must say that I enjoyed this game and feel that it is probably under-appreciated by gamers out there. It had a good mix of live action and graphic scenes, a storyline that held my interest till the end, and just enough quirks about it that amused and interested me. I would be interested to know about any other games by these people.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice game The first thing I did when I finished this game was to look up the developer and see what other games they have done, I want more! Luckily, there are more Specialbit games here on Big Fish. It's a lovely story, told through photos that you pick up and live action cut scenes. We also have a helper, not an intrusive or annoying one, but a very cute cat just like my own. Most achievements are just story progression, but the collected photos and items for the cat are others, which you can miss. You can play with the cat in the achievements screen, very well observed behaviour! The puzzles are all really nice and some thought has obviously gone into them to put a slightly different spin on the norm. A few take a bit of thought but all are logical, and fit in with the story. I did take out a pen and paper for the number puzzle, but I always tend to do that with them. Then we have FROGs, which I usually really don't care for, but these are so well done and lovely to look at, I actually really enjoyed them too. The music is relaxing, and the graphics suit the story, changing style a little depending on where you are in the story. I played on the hardest setting, and it was challenging enough for me whilst still being a great way to while away a Saturday afternoon. For SE price, this is a real bargain.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Great This is really a very good game (good length, music, story,...). The only complaint that I have is that some of the close-up images do not respond fully to the zoomed-out picture (for example in the toy room at the top of the shelf). But other than that this game exceeded all my expectations! :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unique, Enjoyable Gaming! Great and different storyline. Tried the demo, purchased and played straight through. Gamers will be pleasantly surprised at the depth and talent presented. Initially, wondered if this is yet another rescue a disappearing loved one plot or simply over the top weird. We find out early on that the game falls into neither of these categories. Actually, the originality is what, most likely, has earned so many reviews for a little known developer here on BFG. Hopefully, we will see more of this developer and this type of excellent gaming! Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Intriguingly Different Mix of live action and hand-drawn art works perfectly. Your POV is of the grieving husband who has just lost his wife in a car crash. But wait - she's trying to contact you! Your goal is to follow her, picking up photos of your life together along the way, and overcoming the mysterious barriers that divide you. Logic and persistence will guide you through the places that were special to your past life together. Some of the puzzles were a wee bit too challenging; others were just challenging enough. There were exactly the right number of FROGS, puzzles and finding tools and objects to help you progress. The story was excellent; I admit to shedding a little tear at the end! I like that so much thought was put into creating an immersive world and making the player really care about the characters and their fates. Recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Unique Gem of a Game Releases such as The Last Dream, should not get lost in the amazing mire of games that are produced in each year.....and I for one, am hoping that word of mouth gets out about this unique game. It might fit the category of 'Casual Gaming; but the term Story Driven might be a better category for it.....because it is the story that MAKES one want to complete the game and help this man get to his wife. There is an emotional content that is in the game, that really doesn't exist in most Casual Games where a "lost" significant other meme is a regular theme of the games. You genuinely FEEL for the man and his quest….and the whole tenor of the game, juxtaposing cinematics that drive the story and sequences of game play that also alternate between very plausibly real to “What the Heck is going on Here?” I for one, really thought that juxtaposition was part of the theme that kept me guessing what was going on….until the end. It is supported by good art work and by mini-games that are quite challenging. (thank heavens for the video walkthroughs!). The "FROGS" that are a part of the gameplay, really don't feel as if I am playing a FROG or Hidden Object puzzle, and I didn't find myself sighing at the thought of searching the landscape for the objects that were needed, I just simply 'got to work' to help this man in his quest….and many of the mini-games were thankfully, quite solvable with a little work. The art work gave us hidden clues that he was not searching in the real physical world....and gave us some unique problems, like how to stop a killer lawnmower or a garden hose, that suddenly take on life of their own. There is a Helper Cat and I hope that people who object to such Helpers won't skip this game because of the existence of the cat. She is obviously a construct of another world, from the first moment she speaks to the man....but, is far from cute....and not used very often....but, if anyone playing the game, is owned by a cat, the looks and behavior of it, will be quite recognizable…and, the main point, is that anyone who simply objected to playing a game BECAUSE of the inclusion of a “helper” would be missing out on what is a unique gaming experience. The game kept up a juxtaposition between places and tasks, you would find in the real world and places that were obviously in a Surreal Zone that kept me asking "What is going on here?" and the cat, was simply another element of that not quite real....that sometimes became “Whoa…what has this guy been smoking?” sorts of scenes. A clue to how interesting this game is? I decided to replay it to get some awards I missed, and I have not been bored for one moment, even though I know now, what the end will be.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW!! what a GEM!! To turn an overworn phrase, "You had me at Hello". The mix of video and hand drawn scenes is stunning and so VERY very well done that I cannot believe that this was just a soft release. Where to begin? I am only about 45 minutes into the game and have been drooling all over my desk with the game layout. And I am trying to figure out how I might possibly call in sick to work tomorrow so that I could continue playing uninterrupted. The back story is mainly told through the real video clips and has me intrigued. Then you plunge into the dream world where the gameplay happens. I have only encountered one HOS so far which was a highly interactive FROG (*stars in my eyes*). There are achievements and apparently things to collect that I might have just landed on randomly?! (This game needs a walkthrough for us OCD about collectibles or achievements!!) Puzzles have been varied and not really anything new but still interesting; a couple thus far just aren't my bag, so used a skip but that should not deter anyone from diving into this absolutely fantastic offering from a developer that I don't think I'm familiar with. And if this is their first go-round, then I am all a-quiver with what they might come out with next. Complacent CE developers beware - there's an awesome new kid on the block!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Many VARIED LOCATIONS keep this game fresh! ((WATCH OUT! You can’t change your difficulty level once you have started, without starting as a new player.)) Loved the graphics, the natural looking colors and the details. Many different graphics styles are used in this one game. All good! Cut-scenes use real actors and places. The story has nothing to do with the occult. The perspectives are wonderful and spacious. Starts with a gorgeous, sky and mountain, then moves onto: funfair-carnival at night, beautiful, winding, country trail-tracks, with silhouetted trees and distant mountain peak, dirt track garages, forest, farmland summer house, being as tiny as a mouse in a living room, stunning 150+yr old factory with aged old bricks with stones and crumbling tarmac ; the light and shadows on the partially rusted metal, the dirty and mottled paint is so good that you can almost smell the oil (the detail and perspectives were so spot-on that the artist must have taken real pictures of this place), and finally, underwater and snowy landscape. ***There are 3 level of difficulty. You can’t change your level once you have begun, without restarting as a new player. . ***Quite a lot of puzzles. Some of which I found very difficult. But there are a good mix. ***Interactive and fragment HOPS. Lots of tool HOPs. ***The inventory stays locked at all times ***Only 2 sounds to control but all ambient, voice and environmental and mouse-click effects are all well-balanced; there is nothing that drowns out the rest. ***No other characters, just you, your wife and your non-cutesy (but cute anyway), cat. ***No map, but it isn’t required, because the game is chaptered, and you have LOTS to do in 2 or 3 areas each time. ***Visit the achievements room and also find the cat there, who will entertain you if you click on his surrounding belongings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Truly Great Game This is a wonderful game. I love the way the story develops through obstacles which are in a sense repetitive but which make sense in terms of the story line. I like the fragmented object games which take me back to the beautiful old Blue Tea games. As many note, the live acting in the cut scenes is right and strong. In general not only is this a triumph as a game made by an "indie" studio , it is by any standard a success and perhaps even a landmark in the genre. I would wish big fish had given it a fuller launch and allowed more players to be immediately aware of this game. But what we might surely hope for, is release here of the CE of this game. I for one will be in line to buy and play it again. This is such an attentively made game and anyone who plays a lot of games looking for special ones soon realizes that attention is more important by far than the size and resources of the studio. To some extent I am afraid there is that problem that good game= attentively made = time expended. But hoping for more like this as soon as possible. . Gratitude for this year-end gift!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A dream that transcends the boundaries of life with love! This is truly a great game and very refreshing from the content most games has recently given us, which has been so dreary. I liked that I had to look around to discover things, like when adventure games started out. I found the items located in the general vicinity the dream transported me to. The areas were compact enough that it wasn't overwhelming, so there was no need for a map. I found the puzzles not to easy or to hard, though a handful did have me reaching for a pad and pen to figure them out. And clues to help solve them were in the general area. I really like how real people where used in the cut scenes. The cat companion added a nice touch. There were times when I had to figure out what to do but I liked this. The graphics were good quality and the music was great. Above all the story was a beautiful one about love. I highly recommend this game to those looking for an excellent story and that doesn't give you every thing a silver platter. So, if you are one that likes all the bells and whistles I suggest you play the demo first before purchasing this game.
