Riddles of Egypt is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very short The game was fairly enjoyable, but regretting the purchase since I was done within about 2-3 hours. The minigames were mostly VERY easy. Not really enough of a challenge for most adventure game junkies.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DIDN'T GRAB MY INTEREST I played the demo and did not get done with the first location, the Port. Perhaps further game play would have changed my opinion. After 3000 years of dormancy, a terrible force has been unleashed in 1932 Egypt that is capable of destroying the known world. You must go to four locations and find the object in each location that, combined together, will defeat this force. Nothing about this storyline made me particularly curious about how the game ends. So the game play, for me, must carry the game, as the storyline does not. There is a built-in guide with step by step instructions, unusual for a SE game. The hint is a pyramid and I did not find the recharge time as any kind of hindrance. I actually used the guide more than the hint. I did not seen any place to select a difficulty level, but I saw no sparkles anywhere during the hour I played. The graphics are crisp, clear and colorful. The game cursor is pretty small so you have to be careful not to move too fast or you will miss when it changes to a hand or to gears, which gives you clues as to what to do next. This is the worst thing about the game that I found during the demo. I did not see any standard HOS. You pick up items here and there which are added to your inventory to be used later for mini puzzle solutions. I played the tutorial which was pretty standard. I did not find the game play very linear and it was not always obvious where to go next. For this reason and for help on the mini puzzles, I used the guide several times. The built-in guide was excellent. Its icon is right at the bottom left of the screen and clicking on it opens it in the same window which made it very convenient. It does not take up the whole screen when it opens so you can still see where you are and what you need to do. There is some back and forth within the location but I am guessing that once a location is finished, you will not have to come back to it. Again, that is just a guess. There are lots of achievements to be won but I didn't win a single one while I played. Many of them are based on time and I am just not a fast player or very quick with my cursor movement. Be sure to play the demo before purchase. This is an OK game for a coupon purchase if you have one that you need to use right away. It just does not stand out from the crowd.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Unsolvable My comments rather mix some other reviews. There is no story line, mostly, and what there is is stupid. On the other hand, the puzzles are terrific. They require some thought and some creativity. The visuals are OK. Here's the problem. I reached the pyramid on the boat in level 1 in about 30 minutes. Spent nearly 20 trying to solve it - the solution is obvious, but how to get there is not - before I went to the Guide, which shows a solution that is not possible. Really bummed out, because I was enjoying the game. So try the trial and if you can solve the boat, great, buy the game. I deleted it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Trapped in the Tutorial--bad design This game kept coming up in suggestions, so I decided to give it a try. Aside from an overdone plot premise in the starting cinematic, I was willing to still try to play the game. I play a lot of casuals with a done to death premise. Then it wanted to "help" me with a tutorial. So I complied. It asked me to click on a door, which I did. Then I was stuck in that puzzle only. There was no response from anything (other than the "I can't figure out how to solve this" message when I clicked near the puzzle that came up. There was no working method to get out of the puzzle in question. Sure, they'd show me a walk through, but there was no way to return to the starter location to actually do the walk through. Didn't matter if I went back to the main menu, and exiting the game completely didn't work either. The only way to avoid this was to start a new ID and not use the tutorial. Any game that is so badly thought out/designed/coded from the get go is not a game for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible I love playing online games and look forward to a true challenge. I have never given a game a bad rating until now. There is no storyline to this game. Also, you are unable to figure out what you are supposed to do. In order to continue through, you must go to the Guide. It feels like you're cheating and not getting anything out of the game. I bought The Vanishing Hitchhiker about 2 years ago, and I still play the game like it was my first time because it is very interesting. I'm going to delete Riddles Of Egypt and I basically wasted my money for the first time on Online Games.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Puzzles, This Game is a Puzzle to Me I was so lost, using the hint and looking at the guide, and I got no where. I would click all over the place I was to be, but, couldn't seem to find the magic spot. I don't care for hogs but love puzzles, was so excited when I saw this game, others have figured out what to do, unlike me, give it a try and see what you think. I gave up, good luck to all that try it.
