Mountain Trap 2: Under the Cloak of Fear is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am Trapped Wow much better then the last one. I got to play the first one and gave it not so good review. On the new computer with better internet to go with I replayed the first one and it was not as bad. This one is pretty good. Nice SE with a jump map and critter action, A couple different types of HO's, Simple enough puzzles with plenty to do. Music and Characters not too bad. Oh and like that my Character got to choose questions to be asked. Like another poster It felt criminal leaving antifreeze in a drinking glass. I Would put this one on my to buy list. Rare to find a SE that is even worth the money.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from When The Sheriff Is Stumped You Know It's Going To Be A Tough Case To Crack Fifteen young women have vanished mysteriously (because the disappearance of 15 old women isn't that interesting) from Wilshere Idenburg. There's no evidence, none, nada, zilch, and the local sheriff, Aiden Wood, is stumped. He has asked for help from a well known Private Investigator, Joan Veiburn, to help him find some type of lead to stop this madness. This is a really good game for the price, the graphics are decent, not phenomenal, and it is a fairly easy game to play. You are equipped with a Mini Lab that allows you to collect ingredients with your dropper, as well as analyze substances and make chemical compounds to help you with your investigation. Altogether, you will collect 14 different ingredients as well as the necessary formula recipes. Each recipe requires you to choose the symbol coded vials and mix them in the correct order to produce compounds such as solvent or antifreeze. The Hidden Object Scenes are a little "old school" all of them are simple Interactive List Finds, but the scenes are not repeated, and some objects are pretty well hidden. The Mini Games are doable, and uncomplicated, below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Drag numbered disks to line them in ascending order using a turntable to switch the tokens. 2) Move the tokens to form horizontal rows of identical symbols where indicated. 3) Click hexagons to rotate them to form a complete image relevant to the center hexagon. 4) Take the ball from the stand and put it on top of one of 3 different color coded flasks to line up the correct color coded balls into each flask. I thought the storyline was a little better in the first Mountain Trap game, but this is an entertaining game, especially for the price offered, enjoy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Mountain Trap 2: Under the Cloak of BOREDOM !! I tried to stay with this game's demo but I left with a bit over 1/2 hour left. To continue risked falling asleep and I just do not feel like napping. A few things bugged me about this tedious effort. When a game is set in a reality based setting I get annoyed when the developer invents a location. In this case it is the fictional country called Isenberg. Sounds Germanic yet the characters speak unaccented English and the sheriff is named Aiden a moniker certainly not suited to the location. Another problem for me is the dark blue atmosphere prevalent in just about all screen shots. Furthermore, our lady detective has a kit that holds various chemical solutions. One would think she'd have a complete supply of materials, but no, she must find them along the way during her investigation. If this is the case, she cannot be a very thorough gumshoe. Technically the game seemingly devised by a new developer has a very old look to it. Characters are not crisply drawn, the scenery is rather clunky and for me the cursor was rather stiff. The story line is old hat. A group of women have disappeared. In fact when the latest lady goes missing, the sheriff calls her hotel room a crime scene. Someone merely out of a room does not a crime scene make because there is nothing indicative of criminal activity. In the 1/2 hour I lasted there was but one hidden object segment and the only thing approaching a puzzle was making a solvent using kit bag items. YAWN !! I would suggest that fellow players seeking a decent mystery game look into their personal archives. Yesterday I replayed The Mystery of Marie Roget which is an excellent whodunit. Mountain Trap 2 is a snoozefest. Avoid it.
