Grim Facade: Monster in Disguise Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from a must play! i don't normally write reviews, but this game is so good, i just have to share my experience i loved every aspect of the game - clear objectives, different kinds of HOs and fun puzzles where you can choose between casual and hard mode, which i haven't seen in puzzles before - i always look forward to the puzzles in HOPAs and i loved them in this game, i found them challenging, but totally doable - also the HO scenes were varied, not only lists - both minigames and HOs can be replayed after the game the difficulty of the game was just right for me i rate myself as intermediate even though i've played HOPAs for years, but i always play in casual mode i will play this game again and highly recommend it to all skill levels

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A-Maze-ing Puzzles! As a Victorian detective, you have to go and investigate the 'Bloody Stanley' murders. Seems the prisoner, Hank Williams, isn't the murderer after all! This is a dark, bloody HOA with all the bells and whistles: interactive map, gorgeous graphics, and interactive HOS. I thought the game didn't live up to the Editors recommendation - that was, until I hit the garden labyrinth. Honestly, Monster in Disguise is worth it just for this puzzle. I didn't even make it through before my hour sample ran out. The puzzle is huge, with a mapped labyrinth you negotiate in the mist, trying to locate objects to get you through the rest of the maze. I'd happily buy a game that's based on this concept alone. Kudos to the designers - have they come up with a new kind of puzzler? I'll definitely be purchasing this game, thanks to this maze and the need to collect coins throughout. I always enjoy looking for money in a game - it's like finding a ten-dollar bill in the pocket of your jeans after you do the laundry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WINNER!! This game is soooo good. It is another game from ERS in a large series (I have them all) but I think it is the best. Drawn beautifully, sound is great, story line is gripping. It flows and makes sense, so you know what to do next. HOP's are interesting and some different than I have seen before, all are fun. Others have reviewed the game so much better than I could, I just give you my opinion. Please do the "try me" and see for yourself. I love this game!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ERS AND BIG FISH RAISE THE BAR IN GRIM FACADE 7!!! This edition surpassed my expectations of the popular series. In Grim Facade: Monster in Disguise you play the role of a detective trying to find and stop a serial killer named Bloody Stanley. The game feels and plays like most ERS HOPAs, except this one features a much more pressing atmosphere with excellent graphics and sound/SFX. Your job is to investigate scene after scene and gather enough clues to lead you to the next area, where more PUZZLES await you. This edition of Grim Façade will be remembered for it's extraordinary puzzles. It’s important that you pay attention to every little detail too, but don’t expect too much complexion either. As such, there are a couple of areas you can interact with in every scene, and each one of these areas holds at least one valuable item. You get to choose questions to ask characters in the story. The whole thing is pretty linear, especially since there’s only one way to solve each puzzle you come across. Speaking of which, the actual puzzles are in fact mini-games you have to tackle every now and again. Even if they look differently and feature different components, the core concept of the puzzles is more or less the same, since you have to either find patterns or rearrange various jigsaws. There’s some variety later on, and the difficulty level is moderate, even for inexperienced players. I think that was a smart move on behalf of the developers. When you learn from the inspector that they fear they have the wrong suspect in custody you really begin to feel immeresed into the story. I think the device you discover which allows you to find memory fragments once you find all of them results in a cut-scene that shows you secrets of past events relevant to the murder mystery. It adds to the overall experience of the adventure. Fans of the genre and Series will be able to truly experience the story and the location thanks to the gorgeous hand-drawn graphics. The artwork is very nice and detailed, which makes every scene look like it holds some kind of terrible secret. Moreover, the sound effects go perfectly on top of all this, not to mention the voice acting and the soundtrack. I have always been a fan of the series and Grim Facade: Monster in Disguise is a pretty strong adventure game, at least for the casual crowds out there. Hence, if you enjoy finding items and combining them to solve puzzles, this is certainly a good choice in the genre. Players of all levels can enjoy this one, except children. The game warns you in the beginning that it contains GRAPHIC CONTENT and I loved every moment of it!!! ? ????? 4.5/5 stars

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another quality Grim Facade The Grim Facade games all seem to have that extra something that 'makes' a game. This particular game i found had a rather disjointed and confusing story line. I'm still not entirely sure who it was that dun-it, or why. But that didnt make the game any less enjoyable, which is a rare quality. The game itself was very easy to play, and bordered on being too easy, but no more or less than any other game. The only thing i did not like about this game - which seems to be the norm for this dev, is that if you miss a collectible you cant go back to find it once the game has ended. Certainly one of the better games i've played this year. And one i highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Awesome Game This game kept my interest all the way through. I had to stop and cook before I played the bonus chapter because I had not realized I didn't move while playing this game. The story-line, the graphics, mini puzzles, music momentum, and hidden object were superb. I had to buy the CE because I felt like I did not want the game to end. The carriage rides were indicators of the many locations to attend to. I totally appreciated the graphic content warning, which was one of the attracting factors to this game (for me). Overall, this is an excellent game for any hidden object and adventure game player. I totally enjoyed every minute of playing this game and will play it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grim Has Gone Bloody Up front runner for game of the year award. This game did things with a twist. First I thought oh another annoying Ghost finder. But it paid off for how it played out when using the device. The coin purse was very well done and loved it. The cat was something else. I like how that played out. Intrigue, mystery, a little gruesome, Did not even find out if I had a map or a map that could jump or even if it displayed where action was needed now. I was SO absorbed into the game I forgot to look. Front page was slightly interactive and the music on that page held promise of excitement. Loved it. So fairly well done front page. Abidance and character, game play, and tons to do and all just played out beautifully. Don't forget to duck when peering into holes. Bah Ha ha! Goes to the tippy top of the to buy list.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bloody Stanley could sure use a few Bloody Marys about now! I've played hundreds of purchased games and this is my very first demo. I had 45 minutes left to play but I knew from 15 minutes in to the demo that this would be a buy for me! I'm glad I tried it first, and will definitely play more. Hank Williams - aka Bloody Stanley -- is arrested for the brutal murders that terrorized the townspeople. Of course, we have no proof that he has committed these murders just yet, but we shall see! I'm really digging this game, folks! Way to go, ERS! Surprise, surprise, surprise! The ingenuity, the flow, the artwork, the music, the puzzles, which, by the way, are not very difficult, at least what I've come across so far in the demo. The puzzles seem to be tedious more than anything else. With that said, I love solving crimes; you've got folders with info about the crime scene, various characters and the plot is exciting to me. I think the voiceovers are great but you can skip the dialogue if you want. I've noticed in some past games I've played that some of the actors speak a little to slowly for my taste. They're good but too slow. In this case, the voiceovers are really good thus far. The attention to detail is what struck me to buy this game, plus the discount, too! The only thing I question is the text to choose from which I didn't think was really needed in this game. No answer is really wrong but just for the sake of argument, if you don't answer it correctly you'll be directed in the right path so to speak. The flow is so important to me because without it it's a no-win situation. I don't like going around in circles when I play a game and this, for me, is what the doctor ordered. It's a rather bloody game, pun intended but I've played more graphic games than this. There's a good jump-to map, hint button, and you'll have your strategy guide which I rarely use but it's good to have. Eventually, you'll have a device to find memory spheres. You'll need to collect them all to reveal the ghost. You'll be collecting coins to pay for items that will be needed to move on. For instance, smelling salts, which cost $26. Pretty steep, I think, but there will be coins throughout the scenes. Pretty cool. Obviously, there are achievements to be had in this CE version, and you will be able to replay HOPS and mini-games, watch videos, wallpapers--I don't need; screensavers ditto! If I'm able to download any of the music I like that will be a plus for me. I have seen the cat and his name is Death! I'm not sure yet what his/her role is in this scenario but whatever it is, he/she is surely one mangy, bad-looking cat! I'm playing in custom mode, no sparklies for me and what's the point in having a skip button set for 200 seconds as opposed to 2 seconds. I don't have the patience for that, that is, if I do decide to skip a puzzle or mini-game. I think all developers should make the skip button quick to begin with. Anyway, I'm loving this game and the flow and the storyline and the graphics are high-end, high standard. ERS never disappoints in that area. Well done, ERS! I highly recommend this game! Try the demo first! It's not as painful as I thought it would be!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic It's hard finding H.O. games that are challenging, but that also have a great story line. This game met both of my needs. The ending was kind of shabby, because the killer never mentioned why he went on a killing spree, but that the victims are guilty of something. This game kept me occupied while dinner was cooking and afterwards.
