Haunted Legends: The Iron Mask Collector's Edition is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Challenge This has been about the hardest game I've ever played, the puzzles are great, some were very different than any I've seen. The interesting part is some are just real easy and you don't expect them to be. Throws you off. I am going to play this again as I didn't realize I had to get horseshoes till I was further in the game and didn't get them all. I did have a glitch in one of the HOPs. What I did was quit than restart and the problem was solved. I think it was my computer. That was in the bonus chapter which is just as good as the game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Grim The Man in the Iron Mask was one of my favorite of the Musketeer series. This game is very different from it's predecessors, but frankly I'm getting tired of the dwarf. The storyline differs significantly from the classic tale, but that's okay. The game is long and definitely gives you more bang for your buck. The artwork and animations are top notch and better than some other recent additions to other series. Though frankly in future additions to the series I wouldn't mind if we could get rid of Saint Germain for good and move on to something else. The game really has something for everyone, action, romance and a mystery--what's not to like?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful The Haunted Legends series never disappoints us. This very long game has everything in it, including new puzzles, different types of HOS and customer mode. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really liked this one Everything I look for. Maybe a few more HO's at the start would have been nice, but more were available towards the middle. Liked the variations of the HO's.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My New Favorite of the Year! This game has been out for a while so it's all been said already... My two cents 1) The story is great and engaging. It's the Man in the Iron Mask but the way they present it keeps you guessing about their version until it actually unfolds. 2) The puzzles and HOS are also great! A well-done mix of all different kinds. Not the hardest but not the easiest either. I was vastly entertained! Great story, lots of action, good puzzles. The bonus chapter is a continuation of the story - fallout for one of the main characters actually. If you're as OCD as I am then you always want all the details and the wrap-up. (Plus there's a hint about St Germaine's next meddlesome adventure.) By far my fav for this year (so far, lol)!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One Of The Best Games I Played This Year I must agree with all the wonderful accolades other reviewers gave this game. The story line was so different and the graphic were spectacular. Mini-games were great. Some very different. I really enjoyed playing them. Good reviews on the mini-games are a big plus for me before downloading a game. Many thanks to the hard working staff that brought us this outstanding game in the Haunted Legends series.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Musketeering and Swashbuckling Action! Fun! Plus a lot of outstanding artwork in this game! You get great views of the outside of the castle-palace, and a number of streets with their rickety, old buildings. They’re so detailed and look centuries old, with the rain splashing down in puddles, against the dark, moody, cloudy sky. The graphics and sound are clear and thorough. Loved the helper dog, a yellow Labrador-type dog, who appears many times doing some tracking for you. You meet a variety of characters and their coldness towards you reflects their position and authority. 15 puzzles and 12 HOPS appear at the right moments, plus there are numerous other little games such as ‘find the scattered pieces’ constantly. For the game set-up and tools, you get all the options that a 2016 game provides. The “strange dwarf” no longer makes extended gurgling, choking sounds! That used to give me the Heebee-Geebees! There are a whole section of Haunted Legends I can’t play, because that sound used to make my blood run cold. I noticed in the game before this one, “Haunted Legends- The House on the Hill”, that the devs seem to have modified this to a much shorter series of grunts. CE: In the bonus game, find out what happens to Louisa and enjoy collecting supplies and mending a ship to set sail. Throughout the game collect horseshoes of different value to dress up your horse in fancy, royal attire. Other CE stuff – as usual.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic game! I like history so bought the game without trying. The plot remember the intrigues - Caterina de' Medici, Mazzarino, etc. during the reign of Luis XIV. The game is well structured, long enough every amusing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Woooah! An Epoch ERS! This game has my vote for the game of the year. It satisfies my HOPA loves down to my toes. Not only HOS, but the whole game is spent looking for things directly needed in the game, and adventuring round from the palaces of Louis XIV, and posh receptions halls, to the filth encrusted streets of 17th century Paris, which includes the Bastille. There were a decent number of puzzles, but they are not the focus of the game; the story and the characters take center stage, which I really appreciated. There were a few that were sort of mindless puzzles (like jigsaws with multiple tiny squares you had to switch round to make into a picture) which I will enjoy more when I replay the game. And replay ability is one of this games' strong suits! (Speaking of strong suits, a little more than 1/2 way through the game, they changed gears with the puzzles, and led you on a trek through Paris, having to solve puzzles along the way to get to your destination. It was a refreshing change of pace and kept it from getting stale...) And I will be playing again. There is so much here. One of the most brilliant things they did was not to immediately close you out of a scene once you had finished the task; They allow you time to look around and see all the details, which were fascinating and sometimes funny; I noticed a couple of "Easter Egg" type things, and a few made me laugh out loud. Won't spoil it for you though. The history seems pretty accurate, although it has been many years since my college history classes; Cardinal Richelieu, (aka Armand Jean du Plessis) is not named, but the character of the Kings right hand man is him to a T, red cardinal robes and all. I especially liked the snarling mean cat he kept as a pet, and the many small snarling black cats throughout the city, constantly watching you. A neat way of showing the power du Plessis wielded. There is also a Musketeer who is your occasional ally. The incidental characters were few but well drawn, like the sarcastic hardened Pub keeper, and the shrewd but overworked manager of the Bastille. One of the most important people to reappear is our old friend St. Germaine, a wickedly funny anti hero. While abhorring his morals, one sympathizes with his plight. This game took me a couple of days to complete; I took my time and had a ball. Now I'm going to turn around and replay it from the beginning, to get the few horseshoes I missed, and to see what else I might have not noticed. One thing I did notice, is that the art work was rougher, not so polished as in other ERS games. But this gave the game a more authentic feel. Life was messy and harsh during those "best of times and worst of times" in France, before the Revolution. Very well done, ERS! HOPA's forever. (For new Fishies, HOPA is Hidden Object and Adventure game combined)
