Dark Parables: The Thief and the Tinderbox Collector's Edition is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good game Beautiful artwork. Lovely hidden object puzzles. The bonus game is OK, but not necessary to the story. I am a big fan of Dark Parables.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Parables Love this series. Amazing game. I love the plot twists. I wish that the games would allow you to pick yes or no when it comes to recognizing character, but over I enjoyed them all. They are great twist on the normal telling of the fairytales!!! SPOLIER ALERT I do have one question for the makers/plot writers. Do you really kill the Snow Queen/Snow White on her son's wedding day or does she get saved? Just because she is turned to ice using her magic couldn't Gerda just use a tear to reverse the spell? I really would like to know what happen to her. I was hoping for some clarification in the parables or videos if she was said or not. Because it is driving me nuts right know!!!!! SPOLIER ALERT

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Royal Wedding Is Smoking Hot And On Fire Once upon a time, a knight met a witch along his journey. The witch struck a deal with the knight, a deal that would make the knight a very wealthy man, if he were brave enough. She told the knight of a place that was filled with unimaginable treasures, all of which he could keep, except for one special item, a Tinderbox that belonged to her Grandmother. The knight agreed to this deal, but when he returned with his abundant treasure, he refused to give the witch her Grandmother's Tinderbox, when he discovered what the Tinderbox was capable of! When the knight returned to the Mountain Kingdom, he used his newfound wealth, and the Tinderbox to transform from commoner to king by marrying the Kings daughter. The knight turned king went to great lengths to protect the Tinderbox from the scorned witch, and those who sought its power, but somehow, someone has managed to steal it, someone who is desperately trying to stop the wedding between Prince Gwyn and Princess Gerda, but this someone may really surprise you! Also, Once upon a time, back in the day, when I first discovered my love for HOPA's, I discovered this epic series, Dark Parables. I became hooked, purchasing one Dark Parable game after another, I just couldn't get enough of them. The stories were fantastically creative, taking well know fairytales and twisting the plot ever so gently to draw you in hook, line, and sinker. But my favorite feature was the Morphing Objects which to be honest with you I didn't know they even existed until I was a couple of chapters in on Curse of Briar Rose, the first DP game I played. You know why? Because the developers were geniuses! Dark Parables were non-linear games, Morphing Objects didn't Morph until they were eventually triggered by an action you did in an entirely different scene. These Morphs were challenging to say the least and often times you had to travel to a scene several times, and then had to be patient to spot the Morphs because they morphed so slowly slowly. I beta tested The Thief and the Tinderbox, and requested that the devs please consider going back their "roots" to give us this style of morph in the game itself, and not within the HOP's. Unfortunately, this game only offers Morphing Parables to find throughout the main game, I really hated this feature, why bother, it's just not very fun to search for a storybook puzzle piece when there are so few pieces to find. There are 3 parable pieces to find to assemble 7 different parables so they will be far a few between scenes . I also noticed that the graphics are becoming much crisper too, at one point the glittery gold hues were almost overbearing, especially in Jack and the Sky Kingdom, so I'm glad to see that feature change. The Hidden Object Scenes haven't changed, and that's a good thing. Dark Parables are famous for their FROG's, this is where you are tasked with finding several fragments in three different sections. When all fragments have been found in a section, those pieces will automatically combine, and once all three sections are found the three sections will combine to make a single inventory item, usually an Emblem or fancy key, because DP are also famous for requiring you to find all kinds of fairytale emblems which seem to be missing or at least partially missing from just about every door, window, box or passageway in the kingdom. I know it may seem boring that all of the FROG's are the same type, but the scenes aren't as easy as you'd think, and they offer a nice change of pace. Other games have tried unsuccessfully to incorporate this type of HO but somehow never seem to be quite as fun as they are in this series. The Mini Games are always a treat in this series, I look forward to solving the fantasy themed puzzles and rarely skip them. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Recreate each of the masks by swapping the parts, press the arrow to rotate the masks right or left. 2) Untangle the lasers by dragging the tokens along their tracks. Press green arrows to rotate the wheel to move the center of the tokens. 3) Press buttons to guide the knight through the maze and complete the tasks. The first task is to take the checkered tile and then defeat the dog, then take the treasure in the corner, but the dog will kill you if you don't have the tile. The second task is to press arrows to move through the rotating rooms. If you get blocked you'll have to start over. The third task is to swap the tiles to create a path for the knight to reach the final treasure, you can only swap green tiles. Use the tiles to rearrange the arrow tiles. You can "skip" any or all of the three stages in this multi-layered puzzle. 4) Guide the King to the castle by arranging the number tiles in the right order, press the play button to check your solution. This Collector's Edition has 6 Concept Art pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 8 Music Soundtracks, 21 replayable Mini Games, 17 replayable FROGs, 39 Hidden Signs, 16 Videos, Collectible Souvenirs, 12 Achievements, Morphing Parables, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Played all the way through without stopping Such a lovely game to play with no long bits, no unnecessary jumping back and forth. The map is a good way to travel and tells you where there are bits to look at and puzzles to do etc. I thought dark parable games were going downhill a bit but this one has renewed my enjoyment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The most amazing wedding with the most amazing old characters I loved this game very much, the Graphics : it seems eipix is getting better and better with improving the graphics, It's colorful and it's nearly up to the quality of blue tea games and I'm sure eipix can improve it more, The artwork was very amazing with some character but was bad with others and I hope this problem can be solved in the future the Audios and the music : the sounds didn't get much improved since the previous game but still good, the voices fit very well with the characters, this game has a very lovely and amazing music and it gives you the suspense you need with the game and it was just the right music to me. the storyline : The storyline in this game is new and I loved how the old characters were tied into a new storyline instead of just introducing a bunch of new characters the game contains a parables and it needs to be collected by finding the morphing object, Finding the parables was very difficult and I had to use the strategy guide so many times and I didn't like that and i hope to change this in the future since the parables is very important to the story. the FROGs and the mini-games : the FROGs here are very challenging, Although finding the fragment wasn't easy, I enjoyed it very much and It was very enjoyable for me, The mini-games are good and although it has a challenge from and between the medium to the hard, there is some mini-games easy and enjoyable The collector's edition gives you the collectibles and there's a 39 apple signs needs to be collected, Finding it is enjoyable I enjoyed collecting it, Also, there is a concept arts with many wallpapers, soundtracks, Souvenirs, replaying the FROG and the mini-games, Replaying the cutscenes, The strategy guide and of course, the bonus chapter. Overall, This game is a WOW to me, Eipix did a very great job with this installment and this is their best dark parables, Don't forget to try the demo first and see what do you think. Happy Gaming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Witches, and fires, and a wedding ... OH MY!! Every time I play a Dark Parable game, I say it is the best game ever, and every time they come up with a new one, I am proved wrong. Thief and the Tinderbox, plays smoothly, moving from one scenario to another, the characters believable and three demensional. All that is missing are the fire extinguishers, buckets of sand, marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate bars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Here we go again! Another great one in the Dark Parables series. I love the way the characters from the other stories are integrated into this story, as well as the other ones as well. The graphics are great, story line is great, and mini games as well. I have all of the other ones in this set, and will be adding this to my library. I love these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEARKEN CITIZENS OF BFG! YOU ARE INVITED TO A ROYAL 5-STAR WEDDING Hearken all residents of BFG! You are cordially invited to the royal wedding of King Gwyn to the beautiful Gerda in a 5-star celebration. Like a breath of fresh air, we are also celebrating some new and creative puzzles in this game. The graphics are breathtaking - a fairy tale world come-to-life. The story is a mishmash of elements and themes from several fairy tales including a variation of the theme from “Aladdin’s Lamp,” with the magic lamp being replaced by a magic tinderbox with a cloaked genie hidden inside. The HOP scenes are all FROGS and the puzzles are truly “a-maze-ing!” You will find yourself wandering through several maze puzzles in this game! Extras include jigsaw puzzle pieces to open up parables and you also collect signs. You can replay the puzzles and HOP scenes. This is the EIPIX I remember from days of yore and whose games I fell in love with! Welcome back EIPIX to the Kingdom of Gaming Wizards! My knights in shining armor have returned to their rightful place of “honour” (a little British spelling) at the BFG Round Table! Alas, my lords and ladies, I will not be able to attend this wedding. Feeling faint of heart, this game will be a pass for me. I am suffering from too much whimsy from all the fairy tale games of late. Someday, perhaps my Prince Charming will also appear and bring with him a precious jewel just for me – A GAME WHICH IS NOT A SUGARY SWEET FAIRY TALE DELIGHT! HOP SCENES: In keeping with the fairy tale theme, the four scenes in the demo are all FROGS. I am also certain our bride did not have to kiss a FROG to find her prince! PUZZLES: The puzzles vary in style and difficulty. They are creatively designed and some are thematic as well. There is a super-puzzle which includes three different maze puzzles. Each puzzle in the super puzzle is a maze involving a knight conquering obstacles in his path; however, each one is set up differently. Other puzzles include a rope puzzle which requires you to untangle ropes. There is also a mathematical puzzle in which you must set up a path for knight to reach a castle. STORY: It seems Gerda has brought some extra baggage (namely an old friend) into this marriage. Her BFF, Kai, is also in love with her and wants her as his bride as well. (When asked to be the “best man,” he probably thought that meant he was the “best man” for Gerda!). He is out to stop the wedding at all costs which may rest with a magical tinder box with a cloaked genie inside granting Kai’s every wish. With Kai’s wishes destroying everything - can true love save the Mountain Kingdom? LEVELS: Casual, Hard, Insane, Custom Hints: 10 to 120 seconds Skips: 10 to 400 seconds EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 12 Achievements Replay 21 puzzles and 17 HOP scenes Collect puzzle pieces to open up 7 parables Collect 39 signs 8 Wallpapers, 3 Concept Art, 16 videos, souvenirs, HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE: HOP SCENES: All the scenes are FROGS used to create inventory items PUZZLES: Puzzle Rating: (1) Extremely easy 2) Easy (3) A little difficult or time consuming (4) Moderately difficult (5) Difficult A. Switch puzzle. Switch pieces from three masks and place them into the correct location on each mask. Rating: 1 B. Rope puzzle. Untangle ropes by moving them on tracks in a circular fashion to move them away from each other. Rating: 2 C. Super puzzle. 3 Maze puzzles. (1) Lead a knight through a maze defeating obstacles in his path. (2) Move a knight through rooms which rotate until he reaches his goal. If you are trapped in a room you must start over. (3) Swap tiles to create a path for the knight to get his prize. Rating for all: 2 D. Mathematical puzzle. Create a path by using 6 numbered tiles which move a specific amount of step forward or backward to set up the route all while avoiding fires in your path. Rating: 3

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THIS DARK PARABLES EDITION 12 IS FANTASTIC! Wow! What a fantastic creation Blue Tea Games and Eipix developed. '''The Thief and the Tinderbox''' is the twelfth installment in the ''Dark Parables'' Series. The game takes place in the Swiss Alps at the royal wedding of Prince Gwyn and Gerda. The game is based on the Danish Fairytale of The Tinderbox with some elements taken from Arabian mythology and Russian history. Okay Detective, Prince Gwyn has been the rightful ruler of the Mountain Kingdom ever since the Mountain King slipped into his frozen sleep. Now the Prince requires your expertise. The royal wedding between Prince Gwyn and Gerda is approaching, and wildfire is ravaging the kingdom's forest. A mysterious figure was seen setting the flames, but they were never caught. Your mission is to find the person responsible for this and end the destruction before it escalates. Also, Gerda and Gwyn would be delighted if you could attend their wedding. This will be an arduous journey as you solve the adventure and it kept me playing for several days. I also took notes along the way of how this story connects several of the other Dark Parables games which I found fascinating. * The Hooded Thief is none other than Kai, the young man seen previously in Rise of the Snow Queen, Ballad of Rapunzel and The Thumbelina Curse. * The Fairytale Detective is traveling to the Snowfall Kingdom for a wedding. She was last in the Snowfall Kingdom in game three, Rise of the Snow Queen. * The wedding the Detective is attending is between Gerda and Gwyn. Both characters were first seen in Rise of the Snow Queen. Gerda was also seen in Ballad of Rapunzel, and the two lovebirds first met in The Thumbelina Curse. * A gargoyle of the Mountain Beast can be seen in the underground lair of the Dog Guardians. * We meet the mysterious Moon Priest again, who was last seen in The Golden Slumber. We learn later in the game that his name is Hansel, meaning he is the first Golden Child whose story was told in Hansel and Gretel. * We learn that Gwyn is now the King of the Snowfall Kingdom, after his grandfather, the Mountain King from Rise of the Snow Queen, had died. * We encounter Snow White again. Snow White has played a role in several ''Dark Parables'' games, as early as The Exiled Prince and as recently as The Thumbelina Curse. * Snow White's Eagle Familiar is seen in this game. He was last seen in The Thumbelina Curse. * We learn the Mountain King's actual name in this game: Edric. We also discover he had a brother named Rasputin. * Wedding gifts for the happy couple are found outside the Snowfall Palace. Among the gifts are large chests from the Kingdom of Barsia, the Order of the Red Riding Hood Sisters "Red Riding Hood Sisters",Floralia, and the Swan Kingdom. * While the Snowfall Kingdom's capitol is now located in a new place, the Detective visits the remains of the previous capitol and the Snow Queen's Palace, which looks very much the same as it did in Rise of the Snow Queen. *King Edric's magical hammer was first seen in Rise of the Snow Queen. It was the only artifact capable of breaking the False Mirror after Snow White had reformed it. * The parable "The Curse Is Born" tells of the Sea Goddess who played a role in The Little Mermaid and the Purple Tide. * The parable "Two Brothers, Two Mirrors" tells the tale of the creation of the Magic Mirrors of the Mountain Kingdom. These mirrors were first seen in Rise of the Snow Queen, and the Truth Mirror also played a role in The Red Riding Hood Sisters. I have the entire collection to date and I look forward to more editions of this Magical Series! Good Luck and Enjoy....
