Athens Treasure is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Athens Treasure I liked playing this game but there are other games based on Greece that I like playing the best. I normally say another great matching game to play but this one doesn't get that rating for me

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A MATCH 3 TREASURE WITH A FEW MINOR ISSUES I love a good Match 3 game and this one kind of reminds me of my favorite Cradle series. There are a few minor issues for my personal tastes, otherwise it's fairly decent. First off, I didn't see any setting for difficulty modes, so I'm assuming that a Timed mode is all that's offered. Personally I'm okay with that because I don't turn to a Match 3 game for relaxation, I turn to Solitaire or Mosaic games when I want to chill, but this may be an important feature for others, so it's worth mentioning. The music is pleasant, but tends to get repetitive, and it does switche between a piano and guitar type of melody. There are 21 Achievement Trophies to earn, and any level can be replayed by going to the level map, if you weren't able to earn all 3 Stars, which again, is my personal preference to play until I earn all 3 Stars. I think the biggest flaw this game has, is that you can't really upgade your power-ups, and there's nothing to build or work towards, other than a personal best per level?? The most annoying feature to me was the fact that it takes so long to end the level. Completing the goals is fairly quick, but afterwards it takes forever for the board to do its auto play, finishing up all the power-ups you have remaining on the board. I would much rather lose the power-up then to have to wait several seconds watching them explode, before I can move onto the next level. If I completed the level goal, what do I care about extra points, its not like I get to buy something with the points?? There are the usual obstacles such as Frozen Tiles that require several matches adjacent to them to chip away the ice, or chains that require matches of whatever gem is trapped within. There are Mosaic type cells that require matches over them to break the cell, and each level has a different goal requiring a specified number of points earned, or specific numbers of specific gems to be collected. Large Matches will give you a power-up on the board, that must be included in a match with the same colored gem as the Power-up. The Horizontal Bomb destroys tiles in a horizontal line, the Cross Bomb destroys tiles in a row and column, the Tornado mixes up or shuffles all gems, and the Fire Rain power-up sends down a rain of firebombs to destroy several random tiles, and the regular Bomb destroys a 9 tile radius. Each level gives you 3 power-ups at a time. The tiles are very large, so there shouldn't be an issue with being able to see the board well enough, for those who have difficulty seeing small items, and they are of different colors and shapes, so it's easy to tell them apart from one another. The first 20 levels are fairly easy, but each level becomes increasingly more difficult after that. I like the fact that several large matches are obtainable, which make a Match 3 game more fun in my opinion. When games never seem to give you the opportunity to make matches of more than 3 tiles at a time, it just gets boring after a while. If this game didn't take so long between levels (it's my need for speed I suppose) I would have given Athen's Treasure 5 stars, enjoy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not enough challenge I made it to level 43 with 3 stars on all but two of the levels, just playing the demo.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bare Bones Based on the demo. If you're looking for a bare bones Match 3, this is it. Tiles are colorful and well differentiated. Boards are relatively small, making gameplay fast. The saving of Greece from the Persians is just the frame for the graphic and design choices. There isn't any story. You progress in the typical map fashion across landscapes that change occasionally and that's about it for the story. Here are some things the game doesn't have: Player. You can't change players. There's just you. Difficulty. There are no difficulty levels. Recap. Doesn't let you know anything except how many "stars" you got for completion. Score. Each level is timed, but you don't know when you've gone from a 3 star finish to a 2 or 1 star finish. The game gives no information about this. Purchases. You make massive amounts of gold each level and have nothing whatsoever to spend it on. Explanations. There are different kinds of powerups, but you have to figure out how they work and when they're awarded, as they game doesn't tell you this. If you're okay with not having a story or basic level completion information or anything to spend gold on, then Athens Treasure is a fun, fast Match 3 well worth at least the a demo look to see if it suits. I'm not making a recommendation for this game as I feel there's simply too much missing most Matchers like in their games, but it is still well done for what it is.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from DISAPPOINTING! We wait a long time for a new match 3 game, and that's why it's so disappointing to get this one. It would be great for absolute beginners, but anyone who's ever played more than a few match 3 games will be bored to tears within a few levels. I played 20 levels, and the challenge never got to be an actual challenge. Another disappointment is that you can't name the player, which means you can't share it on one computer. The graphics are beautifully clear, but that's mainly because there are so few tokens on the board.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some Things Missing This is a typical match 3 game. However, I wish the creators had made more of an explanation of what was at the top of the screen and what the symbols mean. They don't say whether there is a time limit or move limit or what. It would be good to know that as well as have the ability to change the type of challenge (timed vs. move vs. regular).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Should have read reviews before I bought it... This game is too easy. I finished all levels within no more than 6 hours. 10$ for 6 hours is too expensive. :(

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Oh hum Just completed 40 levels, with 3 stars, in the trial period. I love a challenge and will play levels over and over again to get 3 stars. Didn't have to do this with this game. Too easy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Way to easy! Match 3 is my favorite type of game but this is so ridiculously easy I couldn't get past about 10 minutes of game play. I kept hoping it would get more challenging but no. I got 3 stars on every level without even trying. Good for kids maybe, but if you're a match 3 fan I don't think you'd like it. Graphics are good, music is ok, not much of a storyline, just not for me.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Timed No, No, No. This game is timed and no way to turn it off. Also has goals to be met during a certain time limit. Absolutely not for me. I play games to relax. Without that choice...no buy.
