Townsmen: A Kingdom Rebuilt is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So much fun! I love the money-making and villagers' happiness management. I love that you can place buildings where you want and design the town how you like. The villagers are really cute, too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it, but can't "start" again Everything positive that I could say about this game has already been said. Music and graphics are amazing, story line is good, "enemy" dialogue is hysterical, and overall it's one of the best games I've purchased. It literally kept me busy for a few WEEKS. However, even after uninstalling and reinstalling, I cannot rid the game of my own original accomplishments. As in, I have actually finished this game and wanted to start again and have no way to do so! The player can go back and repeat quests or scenarios but the challenge isn't there because all of the earned experience points are still in effect. You're never asked for a "Player Name" so you can't have multiple players. This issue makes for several problems: Nobody else in my family can play the game because all of my accomplishments are in effect, essentially removing the challenge. *I* cannot play the game again for the same reason. There is simply no challenge once you have maxed your experience points and there is no way to wipe the slate clean as far as I cant tell. I could play this game for AGES if only I were able to start as a "newbie" instead of with literal weeks of built-up experience. points It's the equivalent of winning Monopoly once and then every time you play again, you start with all of your properties and money from your winning game. It simply takes the fun and challenge out of the game so there is no point in playing it again. Otherwise, I believe this would be a game that I'd return to for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally some good city building! I really love this game! It is a challenge and you need to do the tutorials, but they are good tutorials! If you like city building and time management that does not get solved at once, you will love it I am sure of it. Graphics are good and there is so much playtime and hours of joys in this game. Thank you : )

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect City Builder If you aren't used to this style of game, and are thinking this is a typical resource gathering time management game, you are not going to enjoy it at all. I love these games. The "tutorials" levels give you the basics but to understand how do to things, going thru and reading the help guide is the way to go. Games like these are best to start on easy, non military levels and learn as you go. Basics are easy - assign someone to work by clicking on the building, making sure you have enough townspeople to carry out all tasks including moving inventory to storage (got me a few times). Again, you can't just "Jump in and play" without reading the how to. Take the time, learn the strategies and enjoy it. It's a fun game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite game in the last six months....! It did take me a little bit of time to get the hang of this, the tutorial is not entirely helpful, but you will get it after some trial and error. It is a fun game and it has endless play opportunities, you can go back and play different scenarios, etc. It is like a mini sims city situation, I found it very challenging and fun. I found myself playing this for hours. Yet, I haven't even got to half the research elements! Keep this type of game coming, bravo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Have to get past the Demo Well, I used to love Sim City if that tells you what you need to know? If you love a sim game where you build a city, the demo isn't time enough to really get into this game. There are the main challenges and then sub challenges. For those with issues clicking, I realized there are ways around that, it's just that you need to try different things and the game goes very smoothly. Since I don't read instructions anyway, yes, there were things that confused me, but I was able to figure them out and then there is more instruction, you just have to find it. Basically for a 1 credit game, this so outdoes all the CE's which are so played out and so redundant. I've been playing for a massive amount of hours now and I've past the 6 tutorial quests and have moved onto other quests now. There are still so many more. I definitely think if you like this type of game, take a chance on it as 60 minutes is not enough time to realize just how much there is to this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Scratches a city building itch I was delighted and surprised to see such an in-depth city builder/economy game like this on BF. A rare treat! Townsmen has lovely graphics and a user-friendly, intuitive interface. The tutorial is spread over 6 campaign levels; this cannot be completed in an hour's demo and may leave you floundering around, but if you like city building and micromanagement, then stick with it! There’s a built-in guide (the encyclopedia) to help you figure things out. A story runs through the campaign, with quite a decent plot. Townsmen is a big game with a lot of content and requires time and patience. Fulfil your people’s needs to keep them happy; as the seasons change, so do their needs. Micromanage workers and resources in balance with population growth. Trade, research technologies, overcome disasters, protect from bandits. There are main quests and optional quests, upgrading, and achievements to earn. As well as the 6 campaign levels, there are 26 scenarios and 24 sandbox maps of different sizes and difficulty settings. There's enough here to keep you busy for a long time!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This will keep you amused for ages I love this game. It is a little bit challenging to work out some things but the game provides lengthy tutorial scenarios (the campaign), 26 other scenarios varying in difficulty and an endless mode - there is also an encyclopedia you can access but it isn't necessarily all that helpful. Each scenario has a main objective and there are optional side quests. You have to build houses, markets, a supply chain for goods for your citizens and/or for trading at the market. You also have to build barracks, guard towers, things to entertain the citizens and cope with natural disasters. There is also a research ability. I have been having a lot of fun working out the best strategies for getting my city up and running and continuing to run. This is a game that will keep you occupied for quite a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game! Just like the Anno games - very thorough tutorials and help documents, tons of scenarios & campaigns. Not easy to keep everyone happy (and still make money) but that's what keeps me playing!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely complex game I was in two minds about trying this game after reading the mixed reviews. But I gave it a shot and am SO glad I did! It's a proper city builder with a lot of competing demands to balance. The "tutorial" is actually a six-level campaign which gets progressively more difficult - the last two of the six levels are tricky but very satisfying to complete. I'm now a few days in, and onto the "Scenarios". There are over 20 of these and another 20-odd "Endless" mode levels. So a whole lot of playing ahead, and I'm really looking forward to it!
