Sometimes we think that if we could change something from our past, our whole life would turn out differently. In Backstreets of the Mind, join a man who has been given the ability to travel through time and change his own past. He'll have to face the mistakes of youth, the challenges of college life and the missed opportunities of the workplace to try and change the sequence of events.

Avid gamers will enjoy stylized mini-games with old game animations. Backstreets of the Mind features hidden object gameplay where you search for strange titles in locations which look like plain signboards at first glance. At the same time, you'll be trying to place the "right" thoughts into our hero's mind in order to change his destiny. All of this is accompanied by excellent original soundtracks and an engaging story.

  • Dramatic time travel story
  • Hidden Object with original mechanics
  • Mini-games stylized like old machines
  • Two alternative endings of story

Backstreets of the Mind is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 37.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Chance to Change the Past-Wow! A refreshing, often amusing story, hidden objects galore and a surprisingly appropriate "retro" graphic look make this a welcome game for me. Yes a very few negatives emerged during the demo, but they didn't detract from the fun. The downers? Well, the load time between scenes was somewhat slow and the "sparkles" for hints often got lost in the scene's objects. But there's lots of fun to be had here. It's almost like (imho) the devs are poking gentle fun at more serious and deadly game plots and the often overstated flourishes of modern graphics. The novel idea of choosing what objects will help the hero and the fun spelling search thrown in make this a pleasant gaming experience. I suggest trying it for the full demo but I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect HO for My Style of Play I am always happy to see a game offering that is mostly pure Hidden Object, with no adventuring to and fro. I am not a serious, dedicated gamer like most of the reviewers. I play in short intervals (15-30 minutes), often with a few days between visits to my PC. Adventure games where you have to remember where to go, and what to do when you get there, are frustrating instead of fun. If you like HO games such as the Big City Adventure series, the Park Ranger series, etc. you will probably like this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Enjoyed it I started off hating the game but kept plugging along thru the demo.. It is now on my list to buy during the next good sale. I thoroughly enjoyed the concept and the story.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting and fun Backstreets of the Mind sounds like it should be a dark game, but it's quite the opposite really and I had a few chuckles during the demo. It's a traditional HOG heavy game with a great concept - going back in time to change events. During the demo, there were a couple of different locations, with the family home being a repeating location. This makes sense, as we start off exploring the man's childhood and the events he would like to change. After a HOG round, cards are displayed, showing the event. You then choose, from a selection of objects one item to change that event. The cards are displayed again, showing the outcome of your choice. There were two enjoyable mini-games in the demo. The storyline was very engaging and made me want to continue playing and change this man's life around. Overall, it was a lot of fun.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delightfully Different Pretty much unlike most HOS games. This is just a really laid-back game for a lazy day when one doesn't feel too much like being challenged. Additionally the 'Zoom' feature made it even more relaxed. I enjoyed it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Interesting........... But I loved the idea of the game, but I had the whole game beat in an hour and it wasn't really a challenge for me. I do love the idea behind it, I mean who wouldn't love changing the past, but it just didn't do it for me. Maybe for a little kid it would be great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from So so I am one of those rare people who actually like the old fashion hidden object games. So from that perspective this game fit the bill. I did think the game ended way to quickly and I didn't care for the mini games, they were way to arcade like for my taste. I would recommend this game only to those who are like me and like the old fashion hidden objects games where you get a list of object to find and don't have to spend a lot of time trying to figure out where to go and what to do. This is, to me, a mind "resting" game.
