Ramses: Rise Of Empire is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Challenging but not Overly Difficult! Great fun! When I have to repeat a level 5 to 10 times to get 3 stars .... it's a 5 star game!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not the highest stars but I'll probably still buy it My favorite Time Management / Strategy game would have to be Wonderburg. I've searched high and low for something I might enjoy as much in that genre but to no avail. This one is not the one... but it's close. I love that I can go through the different levels. The stars you earn can later be used for purchasing helpful items and things to speed up the process. The biggest downsides are : 1) The story is kind of ...well ...I read Karen Kepplewhite Is the World's Best Kisser growing up and I barely remember it but somehow think little Karen kissing her hand was a better "love story" than the Pharaoh taking a foreign woman for a bride. 2) The dialog is slow. Not just that they give you forever to read it but you can't click through most of it, just skip. The Pharaoh speaking you can click but nothing else. And there's SO much of it! It's not that riveting either. 3) I have a decent running computer. I hardly lag. Somehow just attempting to load the first area and during the dialog between Shu-Shu and the Architect slows me to a halt momentarily. 4) I played for an hour and still feel like I'm in the learning phases. I'm at level 10, which took forever because they're still teaching you how to construct things. I feel like if I ever get out of the "this is how you build it and why" phase, the game will be over and I'll feel I accomplished nothing. On second thought, now that I've written all this out, I may not get the game just yet. It's decent, I liked it...it's just really slow. As, nearly, always though I recommend the game but try before you buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THIS IS NO ORDINARY TIME MANAGEMENT GAME Technically this game isn't what I consider to be a TM game, because it requires more strategy than time management. A Time Management game is actually a sub-genre of a Strategy game, which focuses on gathering resources in a consequent order to fulfill level goals, whereas a Strategy game, requires you to make specific decisions of what and where to build and in which order, and can potentially have several different outcomes. Ramses: Rise Of Empire, requires you to make several decisions per level (50 levels total) which buildings to keep, which ones to destroy (and when) which buildings to build that will give you the most return, and when to upgrade. Most of the board has grid patterns, and each building, or religious item, takes up a different amount of grid space, so it may be more beneficial to destroy a smaller hut, for example, that may clear the grid and enable you to place 2 houses, which will earn more money. Strategically placing Religious items means the gods will favor those surrounding it, so you'll have to decide if the religious item will help you meet the level goals faster than placing a structure there. You also need to know when to sell the property and when to buy it back (for more money of course) There's way more to this game than simply clicking resource after resource along a given path, and building a sawmill, farm or mine. You can play this game in a Relaxed or Normal difficulty mode, to earn up to 3 stars per level, and the levels are re-playable. You will earn Utens for each level completed which allows you to build the Great Pyramid (9 different items) or study and learn the Sciences which will basically give you bonuses of faster construction, netting more money, cheaper construction, increased population, buy and sell faster etc. There are two different components to this game, and two different icons to switch between. The Building Tab has different structures to choose from, and tabs within for Huts, Houses, Villas, Estates, and Palaces. Once you construct a building, you can upgrade it to a 3-star upgrade which gives you more income and more population, you can also Sell the property, or demolish it, and they will break down and need to be repaired after time. There is also a Religion tab that allows you to buy various statues and monuments, each one has different strengths or value. There is an Icon for Production materials, that you will need to buy in order to construct buildings. The stone is available in different amounts, the bigger the quantity, the cheaper the material. You can also hire more workers, from 1-5, and again, the more workers you hire at once, the cheaper the labor. Is this a complicated game? Yep! But like all games, once you get the hang of it, it's easily navigated. It can be challenging because there are so many decisions to make, it's not a game for everyone, and really can't be compared to strictly a Time Management game, where most of the time, you can't make a wrong decision. As far as the decision to buy this Standard Edition versus this Collector's Edition, the only feature I think may be of value (because of the complexity) is with the Strategy Guide, otherwise a few cartoon picture, music, and Bios you can read about on the internet, don't seem worth paying twice as much, in my opinion. If you are tired of TM games that require very little thought and a lot of speed, you really should try this game, by the end of the tutorial you will have gotten the hang of it. The Collector's Edition version has 6 Concept Art pictures, 6 Music Soundtracks, 7 Amulets to find, 7 Character Bios, 30 Achievements to earn, and a built-in Strategy Guide, enjoy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Beautiful but Boring After reading most of the reviews for both versions (standard and collectors), I must agree with the one overwhelming theme: this game is repetitively boring. I personally loved the music, and the buildings were very beautiful, but otherwise it was the same thing each level. The ending was a HUGE let down, and makes me hope they come out with either a proper ending for it, or another game to actually finish this game. You work 50 levels for nothing?

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Deja Vu Maybe its me but lately when we finally get a TM game I feel like I have played it before. Just could not get totally into this one. A lot of instruction and dialogue for me and constant upgrading of houses etc. . I am sure many will enjoy this and that is great. It is a lot like the previous games. I will recommend this as it will be fun for some folks and it is not a terrible TM.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So So I played the CE of this game for a little while but gave up on it. I decided to give it another try today but all it seems that I do it click, click, click. It's a race to see how fast you can open a box and click a star over and over and over again. It just doesn't have enough substance to keep me going. I wanted to love this game being there are so few TM releases now a days but sadly I have to pass this one up.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bored me to death I don't know, maybe this gets better but I played about 5 levels and found it to be the same-o, same-o...really boring. I didn't see any skill needed to play except to click on homes to build. A game needs to snag you right off the bat or continuing to play just won't happen. Maybe that is the problem with this game...it just wasn't worth it to waste time waiting for it to get better. Way too much dialog which really got irritating. I would have given it a 1 star, but I dislike the word "hate".
