Wanderlust: What Lies Beneath is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Madhead Needs to Promote This Group of Developers! In 1962, in the Amazon, a pyramid appears. Did it rise from the jungle floor? Mysterious Mr. Gate hires Archeology Professor Sylva to investigate. She will be in a race against time against a competing group of investigators lead by her sister, Elsa. The two sisters have been antagonists since their father fell while at a dig with Sylva. Elsa cannot forgive her sister. All too quickly the sisters find themselves in an unknown land, forced to help each other if they ever want to return home. Good stuff: Along with good artwork and VO's there will be the usual assortment of HOPs and mini-games/puzzles. There are five levels of game play. Number five was reasonably customizable. The Sci-fi story was of the save-my-family-member type but the interesting background and locales made it seem fresher. Plot twists helped keep the drama alive. You will acquire a tool kit that will stay with you and prove very useful. Bad stuff: Not all the puzzles worked as someone expected them to, and there were more than a few times when you had to click on a target - not a fan favorite. The story advanced very slowly as each animation sequence halted movement till it was over. The toolkit all but grabs your throat to get your attention each time there is something you can do with one of the three tools in it. The game is very puzzle heavy, something to be aware of if you prefer HOPs. Bottom line: This is a nice little game for the SE price. It helped that I came to it fresh - I missed the CE coming out and so this is first time I saw this one. I could view it with clearer eyes. Try the Demo and see what you think. And have a good Spring Break.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from boring Wow, I didn't even get far into the demo before I got bored with this one. Don't understand all the great reviews. Way too much dialog and voice overs really sounded scripted. Puzzles were too frequent and I could see the storyline really getting lost in this one. Graphics and animations were really good though. Not for me, even on sale.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A movie disguised as a game Really enjoyed the puzzles and graphics/art work was crisp and clear. But the amount of cut scenes/voiceovers was so darned annoying I felt the developers had actually wanted to make a movie with 'occasional' audience interaction! Deleted after 10 mins as the storyline was, sadly, intensely boring!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from So sorry I purchased this game! I may be in the minority but I absolutely hate this game and I'm so sorry I let the name Mad Head and top reviewers sway me enough to waste one of my free game coupons on it. |No it does not get better after the demo it stays boring and has you doing things that make little sense. I also found allthough the graphics were well done the scenery to me for the most parts was just ugly. Another pet peeve of mine is having people in the game with you but nobody does anything but me! If they are going to write these people into the game they should have them doing stuff to help you, I know it can be done because they did it in my favorite all-time game Beyond Light Advent. Also, there is a whole lot of dialogue in this game, It came to a point where all 4 or 5 people had something to say and without thinking I yelled at my computer screen to shut up, just shut the (blank) up! There were a lot of mini games, I skipped almost every one of them, I also had to use the hint button way too much, I guess the game designers fancied themselves clever I found that what you needed to do made no sense! I played maybe an hour into the game after I purchased it and was bored senseless, tired of all the dialogue and lack of hidden object scenes as well as the ugly environment and I just deleted it!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from HOW ANNOYING This is nothing but one puzzle after another. No balance in gameplay whatsoever. Cartoon graphics. Could have been a decent game, but I don't want to be confronted with 2 thousand puzzles in a game. If I wanted to do a puzzle game, then that is what I would buy. What a waste.
