Picross Fairytale: Legend Of The Mermaid is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great game in original style - no guess needed I love this return to the way I first played these type of puzzles. I had to buy just for that reason alone but so far all are logically solved using the elimination method - any that were a little more tricky just took a little patience to solve. I don't take much notice of sound or story and usually turn sound off which is why I haven't marked these areas highly as I really didn't notice. Much prefer this style to the other more flamboyant offerings of the penguin and the like. Thanks to the developer for offering this - made me so happy to play!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Im fascinated! This is like a whole new way to do Picross. It challenges you to think differently. The games are easy, buy you have to rethink how you view a line or column is done, And along the way you can easily change your mind on the placement of a color or an X, and simply change it! no penalties on it. I'm excited to continue with this game,

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not Just a Paint by Number! It requires logic to solve and so it is a good stimulation for your brain. For those of you who want a challenge and not just a 'paint by number'

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Too bad about the "1 star" ratings, because so far, this game IS based on LOGIC!! Love me a good challenging Picross game. And this one is great! Reminds me of the old fashioned picross puzzles I first encountered in the back of my variety puzzle magazines. A lot of erasing and re-blocking out the squares. These puzzles were few and far between, but I loved the challenge. I was so happy to see them being created as pc games. I have completed 15 levels so far, and DID NOT HAVE TO GUESS ONCE!!! Yes, some are very challenging, and you have to search for that one square which will get you solving again, but as I must repeat... they have all been solvable logically! I have 8272 coins, enough for around 9 hints, but I have used NO HINTS so far, and I have solved 15 levels. I wish that some reviewers would not put 1 star based on having to guess, when that is not the case, because it may deter other gamers from even trying the demo. Not fair to the devs. One reason I did not give 5 stars is because of the lack of the square counting feature (numbering the squares as you drag your cursor). The music was passable, and the storyline does not interest me, but I can turn down the volume and zip past the storyline. I am just very happy that it is a true picross, with a high level of challenge. Seaserpent606 and JulieJay... agree with your reviews...enjoy the game!! :) To all others... I would suggest you try it out if you like a straightforward picross!! Happy gaming Fishies!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from During my demo time it was logical I played partway through level 6 before my demo time ended and my review is based on the demo as I haven’t purchased the game yet. I never do hints or guesses. If I had to, then it’s a no buy. I also like a really challenging picross/nonogram game. On the first level, I too was caught out by the NEW FEATURE of fills and crosses being non-permanent. Once I knew this, I didn’t see it as a problem. If the level is long and you like to get a perfect score with no mistakes, this feature is FANTASTIC because YOU DON’T HAVE TO REPEAT THE ENTIRE LEVEL AGAIN!! I also liked the OTHER NEW FEATURE of dots that show you have completed a row or column. I don’t mind that it is a one-colour game while you are solving it as they can be more challenging. (Although it wouldn't hurt to show different colours as you fill in the squares.) THE FINAL PICTURE IS MULTI-COLOURED thankfully, (and I think is necessary because nonograms made by their competitors have multi-colours). I HOPE THOUGH THAT THEY LABEL THE NONOGRAM PICTURES IN FUTURE as some were hard to distinguish what the picture actually was. The backgrounds are visually appealing. The style of music so far is not my favourite but I usually like the volume down low anyway. I have seen better nonogram tutorials, there was one in particular but I can't remember which game it was in. THIS DEV HAS REALLY UPPED THEIR GAME. It’s goodbye to their boring mono-coloured backgrounds and pictures of the past as in previous nonogram offerings. I have played their game Santa’s Toy Factory: Nonograms (2016) and demoed a couple of their other nonogram games. Unlike Santa’s Toy Factory; this game has a storyline, it is colourful and is up-to-date showing a map of levels. I HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR PICROSS FAIRYTALE: LEGEND OF THE MERMAID because there were TWO things that Santa’s Toy Factory had going for it. They were the HIGH LEVEL OF CHALLENGE in some levels. I really had to work hard to find that one square that I could fill or cross in order to progress through the level. The 2nd good thing about Santa’s Toy Factory was that I NEVER HAD TO GUESS OR USE A HINT. This is true for the first 60 levels of the game and for a while was one of my go-to games. I can’t comment on the remaining levels as I had a few crashing issues with it and so I decided to delete the game. But back to PICROSS FAIRYTALE: LEGEND OF THE MERMAID. The game description on the website sounds exciting and I am going to buy it. I am hoping for some really challenging levels, with absolutely NO guessing required like in Santa's Toy Factory. Happy puzzling!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Picross that gets you thinking I actually quite liked this game once I got into it. At first I didn't like that it didn't auto fill the blanks, at first I didn't like that it didn't cross off the numbers, at first I didn't like the single colour. However, the more I played, the more I enjoyed the extra challenge of not having the game auto play for me. I think we've been having it too easy and have forgotten what this game is all about. I didn't have to guess at all, it was pure logic, pure thinking before clicking.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just didn't get it. So this is my favorite of all game genres and I usually just whiz through even the most difficult with 0 or 1 mistake. This just didn't register for me and the instructions were, I thought, a bit vague. I thought I was using my best logic and still there were errors. Plus the one color became boring for me. I like the multi-color games. Try it but don't be surprised if it just frustrates you.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not my favourite game of this type you have to put all the crosses in yourself which makes it a harder challenge. I like this my husband wouldn't so I wouldn't buy it. The colours where not bright enough and the crosses were too big. It was easy to get lost on the grid and doing a row / column after you have already put in a block or a cross reversed what was there already. Considering that there are lots of different games of this type I'd give this one a miss.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deleted on the third puzzle Just terrible. There's no tile count, so you can't see how many you've laid down; there's no option to cross off numbers as you fill them in, and the third puzzle was ridiculously tiny. With three great series (Rainbow Mosaics, Fantasy Mosaics, nd the new PixQuest Seasons), a puzzle has to stand out to be worth my time. This one stood out, but for all the wrong reasons.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst of the genre I like this type game - the Rainbow and Travel Mosaics series in particular - but this game has none of the good features and all the bad ones. The real dealbreaker, though, is too much guessing. These games are supposed to be solvable with logic, but there is no way to do that here. Combine that with the one-color grids (if they can make the color picture show up after it's solved, why not a color grid?) and no indication of a mistake in marking a square, and I'm not going to be buying this one.
