The Keeper of Antiques: Shadows From the Past Collector's Edition is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best I've played in 2018 I purchased the game but haven't completed it yet due to time constraints (I think it's pretty long) but I wanted to give a review because I feel like this is the best game I've played this year. It has a very good story line that progresses nicely through the game. There are whimsical features that are fun to discover. There isn't much back and forth. You have to do a little searching within the HOs and I'm really enjoying the puzzles. A few have taken about 5-10 minutes for me to solve, which is awesome. I really appreciate the attention to detail in this game. I have the others in this series, and I think this is as good as the first. It ties really nicely with the others. Great job devs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The past can never be changed After playing the main game and Bonus Chapter. I have to say I liked it. There are puzzles, morphing and Collectibles to find ( in the bonus chapter as well) I took my time playing this game to enjoy the story line. which I did. Imagine going back and meeting your parents and your younger self at the age of 5. I could hear Alexander was all choked up seeing them. . After playing the bonus Chapter. Alexandra did change the past because her parents died differently.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OLD, SHABBY, DUSTY, MYSTERIOUS with a SCI-FI vibe Available at BFG since 2018 Review based on completed game and bonus game. ****Musty, dusty books, moths fluttering around outdoor lamps and old meters and gauges in all sorts of old forgotten rooms. **** Great mix of varied scenes – you never spend too long in any one place. Find your way around the edges of a city, an abandoned amusement park, harbor-setting, laboratories and warehouses. There's all sorts of electronic equipment to fix and find everywhere. ****Ambient and very relaxing music – sort of electronic-spacey sounding. ****Artfully told storyline. Characters done convincingly. Mild and infrequent violence. Not a spooky game. GRAPHICS: Excellent. Great mix of real objects mixed in with enough artwork done on them to make them look...well, like art! Spacious and well-constructed in most scenes. HOPS: All really enjoyable. About 10 or 12 in the main game and 4 in the Bonus. Mainly equipment. There is a match-3 you can switch over to. PUZZLES: Many were a lot of fun. SOUNDS – 4 adjustments: Each important category has its own control. CHARACTERS: Regular but intermittent interaction. COLLECTOR'S EDITIONS: This had so many extra things that I enjoyed in the game itself. There are the 3 following categories to collect for: **Plain jigsaw shape **Morphing objects **Items for a collection. In addition, the BONUS game is EQUALLY enjoyable to the main game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CAN THE PAST BE CHANGED? Can the past be changed? This is the opening question at the beginning of The Keeper of Antiques Shadow from the Past that is the fourth game in the series. As always you play the game as Alexandra Anderson who is now the Keeper since your Uncle Paul retired and passed the torch to your capable hands. The beginning cutscene in the game shows you and your parents on the way to the Hilltown Winter Festival in 1985 when there is the car accident that took the lives of your parents. Flash forward to 2017 and you are sitting at the computer when you receive an urgent call from Uncle Paul letting you know that someone has broken into the Antiques Shop that contains the artifacts. When you arrive at the shop you find that it has been vandalized and Uncle Paul is being held in the back room. Unfortunately the door has been vandalized by the culprit. Will you be able to save your uncle and keep the artifacts safe? Although many gamers will find the graphics to be “old School,” I happen to enjoy the artistic style of games from this developer. The one complaint that I have is the lag time between scene changes. It is not as bad as having a black screen because now graphic pops up while the scene is changing. The lag time seems negligible and doesn’t bother me over much as it is quick and I am used to seeing it these games. There is an interactive map that I appreciate since the developer gives us a gold star when we have found all of the extras in a particular location. No gold star and you should take another look to see what you missed. As is the case in all of the Keeper of Antiques games you have the Keeper Tool that will be used to help you see things that are not readily visible. The Tool lives on the side of your UI and will jiggle and sparkle until you realize that it must be used. The HOPS in this game are excellent being well-designed and most have some interactive. One scene in particular almost had me switching to the alternate matching game that is available if you would rather not search for items. Although there is variety in the HOPS many of them are the standard list type that I prefer. The Puzzles are very good but most are what I consider easy but there are some that are a bit more challenging and I had to think a bit more to solve them. I enjoy the puzzles in this game because I dislike a game that has too many “brain drain” puzzles. If you enjoy the CE version of a game, this one includes Morphing Objects, Collectibles that will complete five collections, and 36 puzzle pieces that will be used to complete several jigsaw puzzles once all of the pieces are found. The game includes the standard extras that are found in all CE games. IMHO, this developer gives us a lot of extras that make this a great CE a great value. The Keeper of Antiques series is a favorite of mine and Shadows from the Past is a game I have enjoyed playing. Since I like the series the game was an instant purchase for me. The story becomes more interesting after the demo as we learn more about the culprit and what he is searching for that is so important. The game has moved fairly quickly for me and held my interest as I played, Even though I really like this game, as always, please try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time Machine and Doppelganger Based on the trial I just finished the last one in the series hours ago. This one is so much better. I like the storyline in this one. Going back in time. I didn't mind the gadget. I think when you battle supernatural things you need equipment. The music is good in my opinion with twenty two soundtracks you aren't hearing the same thing over and over. When you check the soundtracks note that the first one is numbered zero. It has twenty hops and twenty five puzzles in the game. I liked both hops and puzzles in this game. I love all the CE extras Thirty one morphs. Thirty six puzzle pieces to make jigsaw puzzles. Thirty one Collectibles. I kept checking the map to see if I had a star for finding all my collectibles in the scene. If it has replays I can't find how to access them. This will be a buy from me. Try it for yourself.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent Puzzles Based on Main & Bonus Games EleFun Games has put out a rather conventional game with unconventional puzzles. The quality of the game is good with regard to scenery, graphics, sound and characters. There was re-using of scenes both main & bonus games. The story is just okay, nothing new. Puzzles outnumber HOs, and are fun and clever. They were the best part of the game. HOs are traditional mostly, Adventure level is not difficult, seeing as you're limited to two or three scenes at a time. Collectibles are morphs, puzzle pieces, and sets of collectible items appearing in every scene. Collect all puzzle pieces and you can do jigsaw puzzles in extras. CE bling includes achievements plus the usual. Main game lasts about 4 hours in hard mode, bonus game about an hour. The latter is a slightly different story. Is it worth a CE? No. I'm burnt out on morphs & collectibles, plus I think the game suffers from "copy & paste" syndrome. The SE would be good enough, and only if you're a puzzler.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ...... a time machine A dangerous artifact from Uncle Anderson’s house is stolen, It could change the past, thereby the present and is now in the wrong hands. Alexandra surprised the thief, when he was attacking her uncle and got away with the artifact. But after realizing, it was the time machine, which he took, and realizing the dangerous potential of this item for many people, including her own family, she takes her chance and goes after him into the past. You play as Alexandra, since the end of the ‘Revived Book’, the keeper of antiques, including artifacts, that can be dangerous to the public. In the inroduction of the game, we meet her as little girl with her parents in a car, on her way to a festival, when suddenly a man appears on the road and provokes an accident. But we are left in the dark so far. In the first scene we are grown up, standing in front of our uncle’s house and try to be let in. The door robot won’t let us without identifying ourselves as authorized person. Finally inside, we meet our uncle, as well as the strange burglar. The first scene is cleverly used to show all the technical equipment, we can use in the game, e.g. the keeper’s device. It enables us to identify and analyse artifacts, deactivate and even follow them. By making use of the ‘following function’, we go back to the year 1985, when the thief, a William Kutcher, designed the artifact but didn’t get the award, he had hoped for. But he now wants to take revenge by using it and changing the past. It is a relatively fast paced game with a lot of collectables (puzzle pieces, morphs and special collectables) and a rich scenery. Many HOPs are on our way, but most are very well designed, creative and bring us forward in the game. Puzzles are more or less on the easy side. There is a drawback in an otherwise attractive gameplay: the ‘Loading’ screens between the scenes. The developer should indeed work on this technical detail, as it keeps lowering the overall quality. But still, a very enjoyable game.
