Customer Reviews
Nordland Mahjongg is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got to try it for yourself There are different strokes for different folks. Regardless of other reviews I tried for myself and really enjoyed this game. I played with casual turned OFF and it was a fair amount of challenge to get the three stars in the required time if you wanted to avoid reshuffle, hints, undo ect. The higher the level the larger the layout so I think will require even more of a challenge as time goes on. I enjoy timed mahjong games the best, so this was right up my alley without the hair pulling stress of some timed games that require speedy matches. You will have time to strategize to avoid reshuffle. The only thing that would of been better to increase challenge is if they did not allow ANY of the shuffle, hints, ect.. They will reduce your stars if used too much but I think the time allowance is enough to get by without them. So you can just avoid them if you need the extra challenge and use more difficult tiles. I found the black and white tiles were challenging. If you really like fast playing mahjong timers, I recommend The Mahjong Huntress or Mahjong Forbidden Temple. This game does offer a new concept of mahjong in the duel mode. You are playing against the computer. I haven't quite learned how to beat it yet before the demo was over so I think it will be worth buying. The navigation of the game was easy. It shows quick option to replay if you are not satisfied with your score. Very good tutorial so there should not be any confusion to learn. Of course you must turn tutorial on but you can also turn back off once you've learned the navigation and instruction, also go to options to change your tiles to get a better challenge. Three types of mahjong in all so I think it is well worth it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been so much better I have to agree with the other reviews, but I did decide the Duel game was worth a free game coupon - once I worked out what the number of available moves meant - one means click on the duel master tiles top right to add one to the layout, 6 means click on one of your 6 tiles and you will be shown available spaces to put it, any other number means their are visible matches, as well as the option to place another tile.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good parts Bad parts This could have been so much better. Lets start with the classic game. Far too easy, a game for kids but not for adults.I was completing a level in less than a minute and it did not get any harder. To get to the next level you need to exit the game then select the next level. On to the duel game. If this had had a bit more thought put in to it it would have been good. A bit confusing at first but you need to make matches either on the board or by using one of the 6 extra tiles to match. Failing that the duel master will add a tile The best way to understand it is to try it. The most challenging part of this game is the parade where you need to match a tile with a tile from the parade which fills from left to right. Once it is full game over. So for me there are parts I liked and parts I did not like. It could have been so much better. There are also a few spelling mistakes in this. The colors are bright and tiles very clear but where is the challenge especially in the classic game. Try the demo and see what you think and had it had more thought put in to it I might have purchased but as it stands it is a no. As for the stars for me it is really a 2.5 as I did not dislike it but then its just a bit below ok.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Norldland Mahjongg The game just seemed too easy, the levels barely got any harder and I play about 25 levels. I was constantly clicking tiles at such a fast rate without any thought, since the choices were so very obvious. Give it a go yourself, perhaps I wasn't patient enough but after 25 levels they all felt like level 1 difficulty. You won't believe how fast you'll be clicking tiles in this game making such obvious choices with unheard of speed. You will be finishing levels in under 40 seconds. This could have been a buy for me, but certainly not at what I experienced in slightly over a half hour of trial play in terms of difficulty. I look forward to reading other reviews about this game that may dispute my opinion and perhaps tell me if I could have selected an option in the game menu that would have presented me with more challenging levels from the beginning.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sorry to give it such a bad review... What a disappointment!! Everything is beautiful about the game but the game play was just plain NOT fun! I almost bought the game just because it was all so pretty. Loved all the tile choices. All the different choices but you need to completely re do it or something. Make it challenging!! Add more different types of mahjong. Like other reviewers said...it could have been sooooo much better! Geees!!!!!!!! TRY AGAIN!! The music was relaxing and nice...give it another shot but PLEASE dig out that imagination this time!!!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from INCREDIBLY EASY AND BORING Well, the tile selections are colorful and the background wallpapers are beautiful, but I had the same experience as fellow reviewer mouseclick2. The levels are super easy and the matches couldn't be more obvious and it didn't seem to make any difference when I switched off the Casual Difficulty Mode. It literally takes seconds to polish off a level and because there's absolutely no challenge, this is just a really boring game that wasn't worth the time it took to download :( There are a lot of options, so I guess that's a good thing? There are 11 hand-drawn Mahjongg Tile options (4 Traditional Mahjongg-themed, Black & White Animal-themed, Nature-themed, Viking-themed, Emperor-Themed, Card Suite-themed, Domino-themed, Camping-themed) and 22 Background Wallpaper options. You can choose your resolution as well, but as usual for this developer, the game doesn't cover the entire screen (large screens?) and there are always bars on both sides! You can enable/disable the Auto Zoom feature and 3D View as well. There are 3 Mahjongg Games available, Parade Mahjongg with 5 different level layouts. Classic Mahjongg with 5 different level layouts, and Duel Mahjongg which has a novice and master level. All Mahjongg games can be played in a Casual or Normal Mode with the exception of the master Duel Mahjongg. The goal is to earn 3-Stars per level, you must earn a certain number of stars to unlock the preceding levels and using the Hint, Undo, or Redo features will result in a loss of points. After completing a level, I was at a complete loss as to how to proceed to the next level. There's no X, no play button, no instructions. (there are a lot of typos!) The only way I found to get to the next level was to hit the Exit tab and then click the next game I wanted to play?? Good luck on this one by: Magnussoft

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Enough Already! We have quite enough boring games without adding this one to the pile. Mahjong is not entertaining or creative to begin with and the lack of basic features that are normally included in games, such as instructions, play button and exit route are nowhere to be found. To advance to the next level I had to exit and then hit next game I wanted. There is absolutely no challenge, I breezed through 30 levels lickety-split and was less than halfway through the demo. So I knew this was a no buy for me. In addition to the above-mentioned, there were numerous typos and there are no options available to increase the difficulty level of this extremely easy mahjong flop. I tried the different game styles and layouts, but they still presented no challenge. How did this even make it to Big Fish anyway? There is a positive note, however. There is a nice selection of pretty tiles, very lovely wallpapers and a variety of options. But for me they don't really matter if the game is so void of entertainment. I guess if someone wants to just plunk away at an easy-peasy diversion from the stresses of the day, Nordland Mahjong should do nicely.
