The Myth Seekers 2: The Sunken City is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Myth Seekers 2 The Sunken Kingdom The Sunken City is the second game in the Myth Seekers series and, at least for me, it is much better than the first game. The Sunken City takes place four years after your search for Vulcan’s Hammer that was featured in the first game. As with that game there is a lot of mystery as you search to unlock the secrets of the ancient kingdom of Ys. Since anything to do with ancient civilizations is one of my passions, this game was an instant purchase for me. Even though the overall game is excellent with a storyline that kept me wanting more as I moved through the game, I still felt that the graphics tended to be sub-par. The characters seemed flat and at times rather cartoonish many of the scenes lacked the depth and detail that are found in games by other developers. That being said, the storyline and the mini-games made up for the deficit in graphics. The HOPS scenes highlighted the deficit with the graphics as they were very grainy and misty, which made the items difficult to spot. Although there is an alternate matching game available it was almost more difficult than finding items in the scenes, so it was rather useless and, as a result, I did need to rely on the hint button several times in order to complete the scenes. The MINI-GAMES were fun but once again we have a game where there are far more mini-games than there are HOPS. Some of the mini-games are challenging but most seem to be easily solvable so there is at least something for everyone. Another weakness in the game is that the Strategy Guide does not include complete information on solving a mini-game but only shows a graphic of the solution and even though you know what the solution looks like, the guide does not include the steps required to get there. IMHO, this makes the Strategy Guide unnecessary. As I mentioned the storyline is excellent and the gameplay kept me engaged. I happen to enjoy moving back and forth between scenes when playing a game so that I actually need to use my brain to remember where an item should be used. Because I enjoyed the overall game (which made it worth 5 stars) I can overlook the graphics as being a minor irritation. For me the game is quite long but I am a slow player and don’t like to rush through a game just to see how fast I can complete it. Even though I did purchase the game, I always recommend that you try the demo to see if the game is one you will enjoy. Happy gaming!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It is OK Game is ok for me. Graphics good, Level of Challenge good until I got to the combination lock in level 4, I guess I'm kind of stupid, couldn't figure that one out so couldn't finish the game. You need a skip options for us dummies I guess. Otherwise good game

Rated 4 out of 5 by from YOU WON'T MISS WHAT'S MISSING, definitely the better value Completed CE game 5 hours (including CE Bonus Chapter & all puzzles) Demo only Standard Edition When Prince Gradlon from the Lutetia Kingdom first met Princess Tehda of Y's, they fell hopelessly in love with one another. Their bond united the rocky relationship between the two kingdoms, but jealousy reared its ugly head dooming Y's and all who lived there. The mythical city of Y's has been swallowed by an unforgiving sea, decaying past the point of no return for centuries. Y's is nothing more than an Atlantian tale now, lost and all but forgotten, until today! The Myth Seekers have discovered an ancient artifact that could shine the light on the city and all its glory, or bring with it all the darkness of its seedy past! Bravo Sunward Games! I loved the storyline, puzzles, and Hidden Object Scenes. I do feel this Standard Edition version is a better choice because honestly, the Collector's Edition version didn't have a lot to offer. There were no morphs, and not very many re-playable games, etc, the only CE bling offered were Collectible Ysian Masks, and they weren't very challenging to find. They didn't even have an option to return to the scenes to pick up any Masks you may have forgotten to look for, so I really think you won't miss what's missing in this Standard Edition version! The Hidden Object Scenes are awesome! I rarely find HOP's to be challenging nowadays because the items are never hidden, they are just laying amongst a junk pile, but I found myself staring at more than one scene as I tried to find some of the objects because they were blended so well (the rat took me forever!) Although they are mostly Interactive Listed Item Finds, there are also Progressive~Interactive Silhouetted~Shape Finds, Fragmented~Shape Finds (frogs) Multiples of the same object Finds, and Pictured Item Finds. There are only 10 HOP's offered (+2 in the CE BC) not including the 3-4 Story Progression, Keywords in Sentence Finds because they are considered Mini-Games here. There is an alternate Pair~Matching mini-game available that's actually kind of fun. The Mini-Games are all doable kind of puzzles. There are 26 Actual Mini-Games (as listed by Sunward as mini-games, not Hop's) Below are brief descriptions of some of my personal favorites in this game: 1-Rotate hands/pipes to allow energy to flow from the bottom to 3 crystals on top. 2-Slide gargoyles until each row matches the gargoyles on the left. 3-Move the silver ball thru every point only once. 4-Move triangle puzzle pieces by rotating diamond-shaped sections.? 5-Use directional arrows to navigate according to the landmark clues. 6-Place colored wires into each partial symbol to recreate the color-coded symbols shown. 7-Swap & rotate circular stone tokens to recreate a picture. 8-Click up to 16 Musical notes to guide the bird to the Soul Amulet. ? 9-Flip over 2 tokens at a time to find matching pairs of symbols. The Collector's Edition Bonus Chapter wasn't very impressive, but prequels aren't my favorite, I'd much rather continue with the main story or delve into the detail of a missing link scenario. You play as a Baker's apprentice in Y's along with his Ferret Miffy. There's a lot of "Find this, place that, go here, go there's" but there's only 3 Mini-Games and 2 Hidden Object Scenes in the entire fairly lengthy bonus chapter. You will complete the Collection of the final 5 Ysian Masks as well. The Collector's Edition version has 8 Wallpapers (yeah! no character's to ruin the beautiful scenery) 8 Concept Art Pictures, 8 Movie Video Cutscenes, 8 Re-Playable Hidden Object Scenes, 8 Re-Playable Mini-Games, 18 Story-Based & 10 Skill-Based Achievements, 27 Collectible Ysian Masks (7~8~7~5 of each type) 6 Main Chapters +Bonus Chapter and a Built-in Strategy Guide. Rated 3 out of 5 by from I've been called many things, but a "Meddler"! Why I oughta! I have to say that these developers are pretty good and they have great potential but they need to improve on a few things. I just finished the SE version. The graphics were really good; many of the objects were foreign to me but I'm used to that. But some of the tasks were senseless to me. The music and chorus were wonderful and I enjoyed that a lot. What I didn't like was the strategy of the game--the same old amulets, runes; mini-games where you had to find the rune that didn't appear on the opposite side. Those are so boring, that I decided to skip a couple. I hardly ever skip puzzles or mini-games. The HOPS were okay, nothing to write home about. The flow of the game was not that great to me. I'll use the dungeon scene as an example. I managed to escape but ended up going back to it at least 3 times. This is senseless to me and quite frustrating. Complete the scene and move on. I also had to click several times on an object to complete it. If you didn't click on the right spot, it wouldn't work. Very frustrating and that takes the joy out of game playing for me. Plus you had to find several items in other areas to complete one object. Another frustration for me. I realize this is often the case in many games but this was overkill. The voiceovers were good; the storyline was meh! The characters were good-looking. This game had some pretty neat moments but not enough for me to rate this game any higher than 3 stars. I wish these developers well. They need to work on the momentum and strategy. Get the glitches out as well. Going back to a dangerous spot over and over again is silly and illogical. The puzzles and mini-games were so-so. I was becoming a little bored but then a ghost appeared named Gradlon! He piqued my interest at least for a moment! I still recommend the game. Try it out first. It just didn't float my boat.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just OK, not great The game play on this is quite awkward. I can't even really get into the story at all because of this. The music is OK, but the sound effects are really annoying. The "whoosh" sounds every time you open a new window/zoom gets old really quickly. I play a lot and I always really want to like the game. But this one is blah. If you are going to get it, follow the other advice and stick with the standard version.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Trial: Didn't finish. Lack of creativity with characterization and voice animation. Fair scenery, but poor graphics. Introduction was bad with horrid graphics which left a bad impression from start. Just same old stuff. Didn't see anything new or innovation to pull me in. Didn't finish trial. Try it yourself to see what you think.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Just a bad game . . . period, the end! I played about ten minutes of this game before the boredom became too excruciating to continue. The characters are flat in both graphic representation and in personality. The voice actors obviously didn’t put much effort into making the dialogue realistic but, in truth, there really wasn’t much they could do with the stilted, trite, banal script they were given. There are excellent, state of the art CG engines available to game developers these days, it’s too bad that none were used for this poor offering. The one or two HO sequences that I played were on a par with the dialogue. Same old stuff, same old objects. Guess what, folks, one of the items you find in a near-the-beginning sequence is a paperclip. Even if you’ve only played a couple of these types of games before you already know that pretty soon you’ll either have to use it to pick a lock or open a zipper. Excuse me while I yawn! There is nothing about this game that remotely recommends itself. Don’t even bother to download and play the demo . . . unless you actually like wasting time!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Comic Book I guess I've been spoiled by other games with beautiful, realistic CG visuals because this is like reading a comic book. Couldn't get beyond that fact so have no idea if the game was good or not. This looks like it was made in early 2000s like Edgar Allen Poe's Premature Burial. But try it for yourself, it may not bother you.
