Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really fantastic. Best HOP in a while. Really great game because it is not your usually cookie cutter HOP. I play a LOT of these and I'm always looking for the "originals". Mini-games - they took it up several notches. This was my favorite part. Different, challenging, not your usual. They were thinking outside the box on these, but they are not so weird they are unsolvable. Especially loved the combination multi-step challenges. Story took me by surprise. At one point I thought the game was over, simply by how the story was written (I bet you will too), when BAM! I was only halfway through! That made the game feel much longer than it probably was. Loved it. Extra chapter also went well with the original story. Appreciated not having to jump back 4 or 5 scenes to complete a task. Nice surprise when I happen to have an item I will need (ex screwdriver before I find the screw). Also appreciate not having to unnecessarily click the X every time you find an object or close a mini-screen. You can click anywhere outside the box and it closes. I wish HOP games would allow you to hold onto specific items throughout the game, such as the flashlight, lighter, hammer, scissors, etc.. Why would I put these items down after using them? I might need that item again. One of my favorite games had a set of lock picks to choose from on the many, many locks we find in every HOP game. Some of my favorite games were when I had like 20 items. Although it makes more sense to open a "backpack" to see all items at once when needed versus a list of 20 at the bottom to scroll through.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Great Game in the Family Mysteries Series I played the demo and knew it was a definite buy for me. The storyline keeps you intrigued. While I am not a puzzle fan, the game has good puzzles that fit in well with the flow of the game play.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes!! Actual Mysterious Historical Events As they say, truth is stranger than fiction! If you are tired of dwarves, elves, specters, ghosts, witches, other-worldlies kidnapping your relatives, haunted hotels, princesses, and having to save the world ad nauseum then you'll love this game! Granted, the graphics are well done but not particularly atmospheric. Great story line- MK Ultra: a historically CIA biggie! Thank God, the HOGs are at a minimum and lots of puzzles which I love! Great job here developers! I am loving every minute of it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FINALLY no goblins, spirits or wizards! I wait patiently for new games that are rooted in modernity. I bought this without hesitation and am not a bit disappointed! It's a good, long game, not a lot of bling (but that's ok), storyline that actually held my interest, minimal back-and-forth through the scenes. The graphics are crisp, clear, in-focus with not overly-done color saturation that I'm seeing in many of the newer games these days. I was a little put-off by previous comments in the ratings about too many puzzles, but I found the puzzles delightfully refreshing yet challenging and mostly easy enough that I wasn't almost instantly hitting the skip button. Actually, I feel there is a good balance between HOs and puzzles. All-in-all, this is a good thriller that I highly recommend if you're looking for a change from castles, witches, golems, spooks and, well, the unreal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely Loving this game! I'm absolutely loving this game and I intend on buying it just as soon as we have a good sales promotion. I normally do not buy the CE but I'm enjoying this Sci-fi-ish, medical-ish game and I don't want to wait until the SE comes out in a month. The graphics are clear and bright, the hidden object scenes are fun and interactive and the puzzles are different and a whole lot of fun, with a few that take a bit of thought. I was amazed and delighted when a badge popped up saying I had completed 5 games without skipping unheard of for me. I love games that take place in modern type environments and that's what this is, so far I've been in my apartment, and in a lab. I just finished Family Mysteries Poisonous Promises and I really, really enjoyed that game. I noticed that many people did not like it but I thought it was great. I'm in the process of playing Echoes of Tomorrow which garnered a lot of high ratings so hopefully, I'll really enjoy this game too but so far I'm not enjoying it as much as Poisonous Promises and this game, but I heard it gets better as you move on so we'll see. Yes, I highly recommend this game or at least demo it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love a good story For me I find this very interesting and at the moment I am hooked. There are some who will wish there were more hogs but for me I am a puzzle fiend and find these puzzles very appealing. I did find however that sometimes I had to click on an item more than once. I was certain I was right so used the hint and it confirmed and after several more clicks it worked. Usually I would say to skip all the banter to get the most out of your demo, not in this case, you need to know the story so bear with it. I love that you can custom set the difficulty so you can make it as easy or as hard as you want so if you want it hard but with just the odd help you can do that. Others are more descriptive about the game than I am, I just give you a few pointers to hopefully put you in the right direction. Enjoy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've Long Been Waiting For A Good Sci-Fi but unfortunately I won't be buying this one. I played and enjoyed the entire demo but another review claims there are 41 mini-games and that is just far too many. When considering the amount of time spent on games, it doesn't leave much room for the actual story/adventure. Also, there's not much in the way of extras to justify my paying extra $$ for the CE. The theme involving mind control makes a very interesting story and a more adult style of entertainment. I thought the graphics were excellent, very sharp and color-appropriate. The tasks were not a burden to accomplish. The game moved along at a good clip and ran without any glitches or stalls on my PC. I especially liked not finding demons and devilish characters along the way; just the typical villains expected to be associated with control and profit in a sci-fi based story. I am not doubting the quality of this game, this developer doesn't bring us junk. If not for the crazy amount of mini-games I would definitely buy this scifi thriller, but not the CE since it offers so few extras. If you are an avid puzzle lover, this game should be perfect for you. Even though it is not for me, it would not be right to deduct stars from my rating. It seems worthy of 5 stars regardless of my opinion regarding the games.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A SCI-FI GAME WHICH IS A MIND-ALTERING EXPERIENCE REVIEW BASED UPON THE ENTIRE GAME 5 Chapters Plus a Bonus Chapter – Strategy Guide: 52 pages (My time: 6 Hours) Enjoy a sci-fi thriller as you, Nancy Bradford, a behavioral psychologist, continue your parents’ research into the realm of MK Ultra, mind control. After accepting a grant from Neurotech Corporation, find yourself working with the C.I.A. to stop this company from using its research on humans for nefarious purposes. While on a fast-paced adventure, learn more about your parents, how they died, and battle several evildoers throughout the game, thwarting their efforts to destroy the world! OPINION: I found this a fast-paced, enjoyable game. The story behind the game is excellent with a well-written gaming script. It is somewhat thought provoking, delving into some of the consequences of mind control and altered states. It is a puzzle-lover’s delight, chock full of various types of mini-games. There are over twice as many puzzles as HOP scenes. For me, this was a pure delight to play! This game is another wonderful masterpiece by this developer. This developer does not produce many games, but the ones it produces are exquisite! MECHANICS: • Four (4) levels of play including a customized version. • 24 achievements. • Collect 14 figurines and 15 morphing puzzles pieces • 16 wallpapers along with concept art, music, and video sequences • Replay 8 HOP scenes and 8 mini-games There are two collectibles, famous scientists, and morphing puzzle pieces. The puzzle pieces are used to play a jigsaw puzzle at the end of the game. However, the puzzle is easy; the pieces jump into place just by clicking on them. There is no work involved in solving this jigsaw puzzle. Where are these collectibles and the jigsaw puzzle located? Somewhat bizarre, they are found in the Achievement section of the menu. BONUS CHAPTER It is a sequel. It is two weeks after the end of the main game. As Nancy Bradford, try to find an antidote to the mind control serum given to a family member. Return to the research center to see if you can locate this serum. I found the chapter a nice sequel to the main game. Nevertheless, I did feel this chapter was somewhat slower paced than the main game. There are no collectibles within this chapter. There are four (4) HOP scenes and seven (7) mini-games. HOP SCENES: There are eighteen (18) HOP scenes, eight (8) of which can be replayed. Most of the HOP scenes are either a list of items or silhouette scenes. There are a few storybook scenes in which items are found within a text, furthering the story behind the game. Nevertheless, they are creatively designed and interactive. Many of the scenes have morphing objects within them. There is also a game of Monaco which can be played instead of the scenes. It is a variation of a matching game in which two adjacent matching items (in any direction) are removed. MINI-GAMES: There are forty-one (41) mini-games, only eight (8) of which can be replayed! I found most of them easy. There are only a few which I would categorize as of middle difficulty. There are a couple of multiple-step ones as well. I loved the nonogram puzzle. This is one puzzle I wish more developers would incorporate into their games. There is also an incredibly beautiful puzzle involving butterflies imprinted on a stained-glass window. My only complaint is that I wish more of the mini-games could be replayed at the end of the game. SPOILERS: HERE ARE SOME OF THE MINI-GAMES AFTER THE DEMO: A. Sequence puzzle. Press red buttons on a 4 x 3 grid until all buttons turn green. Pressing on a button either lights up or shuts off the others next to it. B. Mathematical puzzle. Switch numbered fuses on a board so that the sum of two which are connected equals the number situated between them. C. Sequence puzzle. Choose safe spots on a cliff to ascend it without falling. D. Spot-the-differences puzzle. Find differences between two pictures E. Nonogram puzzle. Create a picture by filling in squares based on numbers and spacing at the top and left side of the graph. F. An incredibly beautiful counting puzzle. Use 5 knobs to display the number of butterflies on a stained-glass window. G. Connection puzzle. Click on pipes between nodes on a circular grid until a number produced on the nodes between connecting pipes is equal to the number of connections for each node. H. Sequence puzzle. Repeat the punching fist sequence by an evildoer. BONUS CHAPTER: I. Matching puzzle. Match up tokens displayed on a heart according to their association with each other. J. Maze puzzle. Move 4 boxes using a forklift to spots within the middle of a grid K. Search and Replace puzzle. Locate missing objects within a scene placing them where they belong
